"See, this is exactly what I was talking about, some homicidal maniac got a core and they're killing as they please." Sarah remarked as she stood over the man's body, her arms folded and a small scowl grew across her face.
Crouching down next to the body Cyrus put two fingers against the man's neck. " He's not dead, he's just unconscious. I'm surprised you're not on her side."
" Huh? Why would I be on her side?"
" I mean woman gets approached in a dark alley by a man, isn't that like a textbook example of something women would defend?"
Hearing him Sarah rolled her eyes, " She willingly went down a dark alley with a dancer's outfit, she made herself a victim."
" I'm not even gonna comment on that."
Cyrus sighed as he stood up. Looking down at the unconscious man he folded his arms. There were no injuries anywhere on his body and yet his face was blue and his mouth had foamed up as if he had been strangled. Cyrus looked back and forth, the alley was littered with empty hanging lanterns, the smooth walls of the buildings stretching down and splitting off into an intersection. He inched his way forward step by step, his feet not leaving a single sound until Sarah and Henry Sauntered past and looked down both corridors.
" Huh, it's two dead ends." Sarah remarked with a shrug of her shoulders, just to be met with a hand on the top of her head.
Cyrus palmed the top of Sarah's head and snatched her back, " Are you crazy!? We're tracking someone with some weird ability and you're just strutting about like you own the place!"
Sarah rolled her eyes and swatted Cyrus's hand off of her head, "I'm not sensing anything besides natural mana here we're fine. Plus they'd have to be a real maniac to attack an angel." A smug grin appeared on Sarah's face, she stuck out her chest and made the blue prism that floated above her head shimmer. " I know I've been hiding my wings since we got into town but I'm still an angel."
" Yeah, yeah, my apologies your holiness." He'd sarcastically remark as he walked past her starting to run his hands along the alley walls.
" See that's better, took you long enough to- Hey! That was sarcasm wasn't it!?" As she realized the sarcastic manner of his comment Sarah quickly stormed towards him punching him in the back repeatedly just eliciting a series of chuckles from him.
Trudging back and forth along the building walls, placing his hand along it at steady intervals pushing and pulling on the various bricks that made up the buildings Cyrus clicked his teeth. The deafening silence of the night was growing by the second. Each moment a failed attempt at finding this mysterious woman, each moment more time wasted. The trail grew colder as the light of the moon filled the alley, illuminating the once pitch black hallway. While Cyrus inspected each and every brick that crossed his path Sarah had placed herself atop a stray barrel. Her feet would kick back and forth against the barrel. Each kick happening quicker than the last, her head propped up by her hand as her elbow rested on her lap. Her brow was beginning to furrow and her eyes closed shielding herself from the sight of Cyrus grabbing and pushing on random bricks. A heavy sigh escaped her nostrils as Henry had joined her in relaxing while the hunter of the group tried to track their prey but was continuously coming up fruitless. Waiting for an inkling of progress Sarah groaned and threw herself back, laying atop her barrel as her patience was reaching its breaking point.
"Seriously how did you hunt anything back in the forest." Sarah nagged and groaned and begrudgingly sat herself back up.
" I don't see you helping. Checking every brick is gonna take a while." Cyrus responded while pulling on a few bricks.
" I still don't... Wait..... You're manually checking every brick right now?" Sarah's eyes began to widen as she looked at Cyrus.
" Yeah, what else would I be doing?"
As she heard his response she buried her face in both of her hands and screamed. " Move, move, I forgot you were an actual idiot. God the first thing we're doing after this is giving you mana lessons." Hopping off the barrel she had been sitting on Sarah pushed Cyrus away from the wall he was inspecting.
" I don't see you doing any better so where do you get off calling me an idiot?" Cyrus folded his arms.
" Shut up." Sarah muttered
Sarah approached the wall Cyrus had been inspecting and placed her hand against it. Closing her eyes a faint orange almost gold like aura enveloped her hand. It grew brighter before it melded into the wall, the orange aura spreading along the entire wall, cascading over it like the sun rising over the horizon as the entire alley started to fill with that orange aura. Watching as the alley quickly filled with that vaguely golden aura Cyrus's eyes widened, his head whipping back and forth as he watched the display of power. As the alley became full with light it pulsed a few times before it all sputtered into darkness. The darkness of the night taking over the alley once again, all except for one spot. In a corner of the alley tucked away beside a large wooden box was a pink sparkly wisp. A small orb of aura emanating from the wall. Strutting over towards it Sarah had a smirk on her face.
" Who's not doing anything now?" She mocked as Cyrus clicked his teeth and rolled his eyes.
Standing in front of the small pink wisp Sarah started to trace her finger along the air, those strange orange and blue markings appearing in the air once again. Tracing out patterns in the air as if she was writing when she finished the markings and the prism above her head shimmered with a golden light, the markings jutting forward and plastering themselves against that pink wisp. As the markings enveloped the wisp it began to sparkle, small star like sparks firing off of it as it starts to spiral whir creating a small vortex. It steadily grew and with it the bricks of the wall began to get sucked in before shooting back out into the wall forming an arch, as the arch fully formed itself the pink wisp stretched itself over the space inside the arch creating a small layer that mimicked the night sky. Looking at it Sarah just gave Cyrus a smug look before taking a step forward and vanishing into the portal that had opened before them.
" You know we could just leave her in wherever that took her." Cyrus sighed as he looked down at his feathered companion.
As Cyrus addressed him Henry looked up at him and only offered him a single quack before following in Sarah's footsteps and entering the portal. Letting out another sigh Cyrus begrudgingly took a step forward and entered the portal, the bricks collapsing behind him and morphing back into the wall.
