Chapter 1 - Character Files

Aria Vale — 22 years

Aria Vale sat alone at a table, her eyes fixed on the glowing screen of her laptop. Lines of data scrolled past as her fingers moved fast, searching, tracing, hunting.

Her jaw tightened.

"One day," she whispered, barely audible, "I'll find you. I'll arrest you… and I'll show you what pain really feels like."

She didn't realize it yet.

Hurting him would end up hurting her far more.

Kian Drake — 26 years

Kian Drake pressed the cold barrel of the gun against the man's forehead.

"I'm sorry—please," the man begged, his voice shaking. "Please let me go."

Kian didn't answer.

His finger tightened on the trigger.

The gunshot echoed sharply through the air.

As the body fell, a slow, dangerous grin curved over Kian's lips — calm, controlled, unapologetic.

Lena Moore — 22 years

Lena Moore stepped closer to Aria, standing beside her in silence for a moment.

Then she looked down at the floor and spoke softly, almost carefully.

"Aria… I know it hurts," she said. "But maybe—just maybe—he had a reason for what he did."

Her voice was gentle.

But the words were heavy.

Evan Cross — 23 years

Evan Cross sat across from Aria and Lena, relaxed, stirring his tea.

"You know what?" he said casually, taking a sip. "I think I'm in love."

Lena leaned forward instantly. "With who?"

Aria looked up too.

"With my citrus tea," Evan said, grinning.

Lena laughed. Even Aria's lips twitched slightly.

He never said more.

And he never needed to.

Noah Vale — 29 years

Noah Vale sat at his desk, buried in work, when his eyes drifted to a photograph lying beside him.

He froze.

His fingers brushed the edge of the picture.

"Someday," he murmured quietly, "you'll come back. Maybe."

Pain sat clearly in his eyes — and in the way his voice broke.

Rowan Hale — 29 years

Rowan Hale entered the room and stopped when he saw Noah staring at the photograph.

He walked closer, clearing his throat.

"I've got movie tickets," he said lightly. "Wanna come?"

No answer.

Rowan sighed and rested a hand on the table. "She'll be back one day," he said firmly. "I promise. I'll fix everything… even if it costs me my life."

Victor Crowe — 35 years

Victor Crowe swirled the wine in his glass slowly, watching the deep red liquid move.

"When everything falls into place," he said calmly, "I'll snatch everything from you, Kian."

His smile was quiet.

And terrifying.
