One month later, China.
At 9:30 a.m., Guan Xing walked into the headquarters of Feiyang Tower. The lobby of Feiyang Company, lavishly decorated, was staffed by several stylish and attractive receptionists, their eyes sparkling as they noticed him.
Guan Xing stood tall at 1.85 meters, with a lean and upright posture. His handsome face carried an aura of indifference and coldness, making anyone who saw him feel restrained, as if they dared not breathe freely. This was Guan Xing.
Although Tate had won wealth and glory from the boxing tournament, he had stirred up all the conflicts on Paradise Island. Not wanting to get involved, he refused everyone's invitations and farewells. Guan Xing quietly returned to his hometown, to a place he thought he would never come back to again.
Five years had passed, yet his memories remained vivid.
"Sir, may I ask who you are here to see?" Among the three receptionists, the youngest and most beautiful stepped forward confidently, her gaze full of subtle allure.
Yet the man before her remained completely unfazed.
"My name is Guan Xing. I'm here to start work." Guan Xing's eyes saw the passion in her, but women were never a shortage in his life. Paradise Island had its share of female gamblers, and a mysterious, handsome Eastern man like Guan Xing was irresistible to many. Among the world's top ten wealthy women, at least half had been with him.
But no matter how exceptional they were, they had always been one-night companions. That had never changed in Guan Xing's heart.
The three receptionists froze. Feiyang rarely hired male staff, let alone in what was jokingly called a "women's kingdom" headquarters.
"You… you're Mr. Guan?" From the elevator, a young woman suddenly rushed out. She looked pure, her face carrying a natural innocence that made people feel instantly at ease. She might not have been strikingly beautiful, but there was something instantly likable about her.
Excitedly, she introduced herself, "My name is Du Juan, a nurse at the medical office. I'll be your assistant from now on. Welcome, Dr. Guan."
Though not particularly fond of women's enthusiasm, Guan Xing showed a rare gentleness toward Du Juan. He lightly shook her hand and said, "That's right. Sorry, I'm a bit late."
For someone who lived with strict routines like him, this was normal. A minor accident had occurred on his way.
"No worries. It's your first day, and our Manager Hua also seems to be late." Du Juan leaned in slightly, her tone carrying a hint of flirtatious closeness.
"Thump, thump, thump—" The sound of high heels clicked urgently as Hua Rubing stormed in, her expression icy. Over the past four years at Feiyang, she had never been late, but today was the first time.
From a junior staff member, she had been promoted three levels to department manager in four years, working far harder than most.
"Good morning, Manager Hua!" the three receptionists greeted politely.
"Not really. I'm late today. Note it and report to the logistics department." Strict with her subordinates, Hua Rubing was even stricter with herself, never allowing mistakes. Yet even she could not hide her awkward steps from Guan Xing. He had to admit—this woman was relentless.
"It's you!" Hua Rubing's eyes finally landed on Guan Xing. Cold and sharp, a flicker of anger flashed—this despicable man had caused her to be late.
Du Juan quickly explained, "Manager Hua, this is Dr. Guan. Starting today, he will be working in our company's medical office."
For Hua Rubing, it was a frustrating day. After being taken advantage of, she realized there were men colder than herself.
Earlier, she had been on the same bus as Guan Xing. While getting off, she tripped trying to help an elderly man, her heel breaking and getting stuck. This man, without permission, had carried her off the bus. She had assumed he would fall for her beauty like all other men, but after placing her on a bench and gently rubbing her calf to ease the pain, he simply walked away.
"Hey, you just walked off! Since you helped, you should at least buy me a new pair of shoes!" Hua Rubing's personality was icy, her features beautiful. Nicknamed the "Ice Beauty" in school, she disliked men as handsome as him, no matter how cold or arrogant.
To her surprise, Guan Xing only said, "I'm just a doctor. Your leg is healed. Shoes? Find someone else."
At that moment, Hua Rubing wanted to check herself in a mirror—had she really become less attractive? She had always maintained perfect form at work, her makeup subtle, still undeniably beautiful.
Yet this man had refused even the chance to be enticed. Was he even a man?
Meeting here at the medical office—under her department's jurisdiction—was ironic. Her cold face now bore a rare, subtle smile, surprising Du Juan and the other receptionists. The manager smiling like this, indeed, had the charm of a hundred flowers in bloom.
"Dr. Guan, thank you for today. I hope you enjoy working here." Her voice was sharp yet seductive, betraying her true intent. Though a high-level executive, she was still a woman—never one to leave a debt unpaid.
As Hua Rubing left, she noticed her leg no longer hurt, but seeing Guan Xing's cold demeanor reignited her resentment.
Du Juan looked curiously at Guan Xing and asked, "Dr. Guan, Manager Hua seems… special toward you. Do you know her?"
"No." They had met only briefly, and she had just told him her name.
"Oh." Du Juan seemed skeptical but, seeing his indifferent expression, did not pursue it further. She gestured to the other receptionists and led him into the elevator.
The medical office was part of Feiyang Group's headquarters. With over two thousand employees, the office was reasonably spacious, containing six or seven rooms of various sizes.
"Dr. Guan, don't underestimate this place. Plenty of women come in with minor ailments. You know how it is—women have more health issues. Be careful. The previous doctor was dismissed for overexamining."
Unspoken, but Guan Xing understood—"overexamining" likely meant taking advantage of female patients. From the receptionists to Manager Hua, and the pure young nurse, Feiyang was indeed filled with beautiful women.
"Don't worry, Miss Du. I may not be a good man, but I uphold basic medical ethics." His skills were treasures to any hospital in China. Had he not been avoiding certain matters, he would never have come to a small corporate medical office. Women? He had seen them all.
"No need for formalities, Dr. Guan. Call me Xiao Juan. If you need anything, just ask. Please take care of me," she said warmly. Though young, she was intelligent and capable.
Guan Xing nodded and began inspecting the office. There were two examination rooms, one for males, one for females. The female room included an ultrasound machine. In addition, there were two pharmacies and a lab. Basic medical equipment was complete.
Apart from their spacious office, only one room marked "Injection Room" remained—used for IVs and minor treatments. The company had added medical facilities uncommon in typical corporate offices to reduce employees' hospital visits and simplify minor procedures.
