Chapter 6 - Chapter 6: Not Fond of Virgins

The next morning, when Guan Xing walked into the clinic, there were already four or five people inside, whispering among themselves. Seeing him enter, Du Juan was the first to stand.

"Good morning, Dr. Guan. These sisters have been looking for you."

Guan Xing immediately noticed a familiar woman—the sultry young lady from yesterday, the one Du Juan called Fang Jie.

She stepped forward, a little embarrassed, and spoke softly: "Dr. Guan, I wasn't very polite yesterday and may have offended you. Please don't be angry. I sincerely apologize."

Despite her temper, she was straightforward and had a strong character. Guan Xing had no grudge and replied calmly, "It's fine, I wasn't angry. By the way, how is that employee doing?"

Du Juan explained, "Dr. Guan, Fang Jie and the others came to see you for this. Here's Lin Jie's diagnosis notice. Please take a look."

Guan Xing took the medical file, sat down, and opened it. It confirmed his previous assessment: Lin's gastric function was failing, an early symptom of stomach cancer. However, there were signs that the cancer cells had already begun to spread. The doctor's recommendation was to schedule surgery within a week—delaying even one day would decrease the chance of success.

The final section bore the doctor's signature and noted the high surgical risk: only a fifty percent chance of success.

"Dr. Guan, we all know you are an extraordinary doctor. Since you detected Lin Jie's illness, could you give us some guidance? A fifty percent success rate is too worrying. Even if all of us together begged you to save her life, it would be a great merit," said Fang Jie, stepping forward eagerly, ignoring Guan Xing's usual cold demeanor. She just wanted him to give them hope.

Guan Xing remained silent. None of the women spoke again, not even Du Juan. Their concern was genuine—it was a matter of life and death.

Closing the file, Guan Xing looked up at the women, their hopeful faces stirring a rare warmth in him. In all the years on Paradise Island, he had almost forgotten that genuine concern still existed in the world.

"If you can arrange for me to perform this surgery, I can raise the success rate to eighty percent. That's the best I can do," he said finally.

Fang Jie was deeply moved and thanked him, then led the other women away, leaving Guan Xing to prepare for the surgery alone.

After a busy morning, Du Juan felt exhilarated. As a nurse, she always deferred to the doctor. Watching this new doctor gain the trust of Feiyang employees in just two days, even with twice the usual workload, she felt no fatigue.

"Dr. Guan, I've been here three years and worked with four different doctors. You are the best," Du Juan said sincerely. Yesterday, she had been cautious; today, she trusted him completely.

"Dr. Guan, I need to apologize. Yesterday I almost thought you were a pervert."

Guan Xing paused, then said, "It's okay. I'm just a newcomer here. It's normal for someone to doubt my skills."

"No, it's not that. Yesterday… I nearly thought you were a pervert, but I realized you didn't take advantage of Manager Hua. You know, she's one of the three most beautiful women at Feiyang. That you remained disciplined shows you are a true gentleman. Dr. Guan, I will trust you completely from now on."

So that's what it was. In truth, he had glimpsed some of Hua Rubing's private self—but she probably wouldn't mention it.

As if on cue, Hua Rubing appeared at the door.

"Dr. Guan, I'm here for my dressing change."

Perhaps due to yesterday's awkwardness, today she wore only a simple knee-length dress. Her long, graceful legs, fragrant and supple, black hair like a flowing cloud, and her cold, mature gaze made anyone who saw her momentarily stunned.

"Manager Hua, you're here. How's your leg?" Du Juan asked, standing quickly. Pleasing the clinic's superior had its benefits.

"Xiao Juan, apply the ice treatment and massage for five minutes. Once the ice has absorbed, she'll be fine," Guan Xing instructed without looking directly at Hua Rubing. Yesterday's intense temptation had nearly broken his control; he had no intention of repeating that.

"Dr. Guan, I still feel some ache in the leg bone. Could you take another look?" Hua Rubing asked softly, her willow-like figure moving closer.

Du Juan sensed the underlying hint and urged, "Dr. Guan, please check. I'm not very confident with these pathologies." She was just a small nurse; though she had seen minor fractures before, Hua Rubing's shy and suggestive demeanor made her want to help.

Could it be… Manager Hua has developed feelings for this new doctor?

Guan Xing didn't refuse. Confident in his skills but aware of possible complications, he felt reassured by checking personally.

On the same examination bed, Du Juan prepared the necessary materials and ice, then left, leaving Guan Xing and Hua Rubing alone. A strange tension filled the room.

They said nothing, avoided eye contact. Hua Rubing lay down, and Guan Xing sat at the bedside. Without prompting, she voluntarily rolled her skirt up to her waist, revealing pink lace underwear, exposing her full, enticing upper thighs. Compared to yesterday, this smaller, cuter pink pair revealed even more, the virgin allure emanating a teasing energy that sent a shiver through Guan Xing.

Today, a simple exposure to the knee would have sufficed for the dressing, but he had no way to intervene without offending her.

Hua Rubing turned her head, cheeks flushed with deliberate embarrassment. She was testing him—if her beauty couldn't tempt this "small" doctor, she would force him and then call him a pervert, reclaiming her pride. She didn't believe anyone could resist her allure.

"All done. Ice applied, five-minute massage, no need to come back tomorrow," Guan Xing said with great effort, focusing on the leg, suppressing the desire sparked by her exposure.

Glancing at him, Hua Rubing felt a pang of disappointment—no trace of bewilderment in his eyes. Could this man really be indifferent to women?

"Dr. Guan, do you think I'm beautiful?" she asked, taking the initiative. In the company, she was icy and elegant, but her true personality was passionate and fiery.

Guan Xing's cold eyes revealed a faint, mischievous smile, almost imperceptible.

"You are indeed beautiful, and your figure is fine, but unfortunately, you're not my type," he said.

Hua Rubing's eyes, full of curiosity, fluttered like spring water. Not his type? Then what was?

"I don't like virgins," Guan Xing added coldly.

Hua Rubing was stunned. What kind of man says that?

Every man desires a virgin, don't they? She had maintained her purity through four years of university and four years at Feiyang—no kisses, no hand-holding.

Unable to tolerate this, she jumped off the bed, shouting, "Guan Xing, you pervert!"

A man who doesn't like virgins—wasn't that the ultimate perversion?

Yet she didn't know the truth: Guan Xing avoided virgins not out of perversion, but because he didn't want responsibility. Casual encounters were fine—compatible, stay together; incompatible, part ways. With virgins, a man's sense of responsibility would complicate things, and he preferred not to be burdened by that.
