Chapter 14 - Chapter Fourteen

"Mum!!!"Jasmine exclaimed.

"Calm down," Davidson tapped her calmly.

"But why?? You can't stay here all alone. Mrs Elena would hunt you down."

"You think so? I can't run away with you, Jasmine. You and Davidson are going to get married soon and you already have a baby on the way. You both need to spend quality time together and alone. I won't want to get in your way."

"But Mum….."

"Jasmine." Davidson said in a calm voice. Jasmine looked up and immediately understood. There was no one who could change her decision.

"Promise me,Mum. When you sense the slightest form of danger, you relocate immediately. I'm not ready to lose you."

"Yeah."

"Promise me, Mum."

"Fine," Jane heaved and smiled. "I promise."She added and embraced her daughter while Davidson watched on with a small smile on his face.

The day of their departure had arrived and all the people who she could call family were there. There was laughter in the air as they shared memories of past incidences that brought smiles and happy tears.

Time for boarding came and Jasmine was surprised when she saw Daisy and Jayden boarding the plane with them.

"What's going on?" She asked wide eyed.

"What do you think? We are coming with you guys. Hills need his most trusted man around and you need me."

"Come on, guys. Our lives can't be the reason why your lives are on hold."

"Come on, Jasmine. Our lives aren't on hold. We live it every second, every minute. And besides, it would an honor to be among the first people to see my pretty niece or nephew as the case maybe."

Jasmine embraced her with tears in her eyes.

"I love you."

"You better." Daisy smirked.

"What's the update on them?"

"They left the country,ma'am."

"I see." Mrs Elena smiled widely.

"They were in company of Jayden and Daisy."

"Oh. That means that Jane is around."

"Yes ma'am."

"Don't you think it's time we pay her a visit?"

The days flew fast and for once, happiness and serenity reigned among the couples. The passing moments were filled with laughter and joy. There was no time to be sad or burdened by the fear of the unknown. It was as if all their problems was washed away the very minute they boarded the plane.

Jane was in constant touch with them. Things in her own side were going on smoothly. There was no sign of her being monitored or tailed. It seemed that moving had been the best option for both of them.

"I don't know but I can feel it. My Mum definitely has some games up her sleeves."Davidson said to Jayden while the women were upstairs in their rooms.

"I don't think so. I mean the past one month has so far shown that your mother has forgotten about us. Or maybe your father has managed to pull the reins on her. Whichever one it is, I can't be more happy that we finally know some peace."

"It's so unlike my mother. It's too quiet. Too peaceful. Just like the calm before the storm."

"Stop overthinking this."Jayden said as he poured them drinks. "All is well that ends well."

"This isn't the end, Jayden. Mark my words. My mum would strike when we least expect it."

And he wasn't wrong.

The door bell chimed twice and Jane went to get it. She wasn't expecting anyone in particular but there was no way she was going to leave whoever was at the door just hanging there.

"I'm so sorry…." She apologized as she went to get the door only to meet the last person she was expecting to be at her doorstep.

Her face immediately drained of all color. She was visibly shaken but she controlled it. She couldn't show weakness in the presence of this heartless woman.

"What do you want?" She asked, the hatred in her voice was uncouth.

"Do you now lack manners,Jane?? Aren't you going to invite me in?"

"Why would I do that?"

"Because it's the wisest thing to do. Either you invite me in and we talk like civilized people or this gets bloody. Either way, I win."

Jane thought for a split second and opened the door.

"I thought as much." Mrs Hills smirked and followed her inside. About ten bodyguards followed her in while about ten or thereabout stood guard outside.

She walked calmly to a sofa and sat down comfortably.

"What are you here?" Jane asked without mincing words.

"I'm here to talk about our children."

"What about them? They seemed to be in perfect condition the last time I spoke with them."

"I'm well aware of that." Mrs Hills scoffed. "I'm here more in respect of your stubborn daughter"

"My daughter?"

"Yes, your daughter. I've told you and your daughter times without number that you should stay away from my son. Davidson must inherit our legacy and your Jasmine is the least person capable of ruling beside him."

"Because she is a normie?" Jane scoffed.

"That aside. I don't want her for my son."

"Have you for once, paused and stopped to think that maybe, just maybe, Davidson is fed up with the suffocating life of the Mafian world and just want to be able to leave a normal life?"

"His life was already normal without Jasmine in it."

"What kind of mother are you? I'm so ashamed of you. Why can't you consider the happiness of your son and let him be for once? Davidson has been nothing but obedient to you. He'd kill and burn the world for you. Why can't you just allow him just this once to enjoy his life? Many would kill for the happiness of their children but you, on the other hand are hell bent on destroying yours!!!!"

"Don't you dare talk to me like that!!! Do you know the sacrifices that I've made for his survival? For him to get to the point that he is? Your daughter just blotted in from nowhere to ruin all my years of hardwork."

Jane shook her head disappointedly.

"I can't bear to listen to your egocentric talk. Please if you have nothing sensible to say, use the door. You have wasted enough of my time as it is!!!!!"
