Chapter 2 - 2. Dissapointment

Olivia was shocked, realizing there was something she didn't know about. "Sir, you are suffering because of Luna's presence. Why do you still long for your Luna even when you can't be close to her?" asked Olivia.

"You wouldn't understand. There are some things in this world that you can't just get. Sometimes, there is a high price to pay to get them. And I don't mind that."

Leizac looked at his own bloody hands, he was lost in his complicated thoughts, and pulled back the red thread of fragments of memories of his past life that filled his mind. Vague memories of several lives that always ended with his Luna dying under his hand.

On the other hand, Olivia took a box from one of the cabinets containing office supplies. At the top was a storage compartment for simple medical supplies for first aid.

Olivia approached Leizac and placed the medical kit on the table, opening it. She took some alcohol-soaked cotton. Then, without asking permission, Olivia grabbed Leizac's right arm and carefully and attentively cleaned the wounds.

Olivia's actions drew Leizac's attention away from his chaotic thoughts. "You don't need to do that, Olivia. I can do it myself." Leizac refused, claiming it was a trivial matter.

When Leizac was about to take the cotton from Olivia's hand, she held his hand and shook her head.

"It's my job as the person by your side, Alpha. I'll do anything if that's what you want." Olivia spoke as she cleaned the wounds diligently.

Leizac gave up. He let Olivia do whatever she wanted to his injured arm.

The excessive attention Olivia had shown him for the past five years did not mean that Leizac did not understand the meaning behind it. He remained silent precisely because he appreciated Olivia, who had contributed greatly to him and the progress of his Pack in the field of external economics.

But now it was different. He had found his future Luna. So, without guilt, Leizac asked her directly to the point. "Olivia, my silence doesn't mean I'm unaware of all your kindness towards me. I hope you'll stop."

Olivia's heart seemed to stop beating. She reflexively stopped her hand, which was bandaging Leizac's arm with gauze, and looked up at the Alpha's eyes.

"W-what do you mean, sir?" Olivia asked, stammering.

The question made Olivia lose focus, causing Leizac to pull his hand away and continue bandaging his own wound, though not as neatly as Olivia usually did with the wounds on his body.

"I didn't mean anything by it. Even though you're silent, it doesn't mean I'm insensitive. I know you're attracted to me."

Once again, Leizac spoke bluntly. Olivia's mind, unprepared to hear this, caused her to unconsciously stand up and take a step back.

"S-since when did you know that I had feelings for you, sir?" Olivia seemed unable to accept the reality in front of her. She shook her head and looked at Leizac with a disappointed gaze.

"Since you started acting differently, Olivia. That's when I became suspicious, but I chose to remain silent."

"Alpha! If you already knew my true feelings, why did you remain silent and let it happen?" Olivia raised her voice slightly. Her figure, which always appeared strong both physically and mentally, seemed to disappear, replaced by a sad gaze and tears.

"I thought it was just a momentary feeling because the Moon Goddess would surely give you your destined Mate. I'm sorry. I didn't know that my silence would give you hope."

Unable to bear seeing the girl he considered his secretary and close friend crying silently, Leizac turned his face away and closed his eyes.

Behind her disappointment, Olivia laughed bitterly. "Haha... are you going to throw me away now that you've found Luna?" Olivia asked hoarsely.

"That won't happen. You are my best friend and my loyal secretary. How could I throw you away, Olivia?"

"So... all this time, your kindness and making me your right-hand woman was just for work? How foolish of me to think you did it because you cared about me, Alpha! Well... from the beginning, I should have realized this, that you have a cold heart. But I still hung my feelings on you. I was really naive." Olivia turned around and grabbed the doorknob.

"Where are you going, Olivia?" Leizac asked. He panicked as Olivia seemed ready to leave the room. If Olivia left, what would happen to the business he had entrusted to her?

That selfish thought unconsciously crept into Leizac's mind.

"From now on, I will stop being your secretary, Alpha. I don't want to live with a cold-hearted man who has broken my heart and feelings. I need some time alone. Goodbye, my dearest Alpha!" Olivia left the room and walked away without looking back.

In an instant, everything fell apart. Leizac even lost the best secretary who always replaced him in managing the business due to his busy schedule at the Pack.

"Damn it!" Leizac shouted. He slammed the table to vent his emotions. The wolf blood in him stirred.

Leizac was in a difficult position. Actually, from the beginning, he wanted to clarify Olivia's feelings for him, but he put it off because he thought it was just a momentary feeling. Olivia herself didn't even show any more than a flirtatious attitude towards him. Therefore, Leizac had no reason to reprimand Olivia and set boundaries between them.

Unexpectedly, his silence only made the situation worse. Leizac sighed. "Olivia, I hope you don't hate me too much. After all, you are my friend."
