Chapter 4 - 4. Betrayed and destiny

Shortly after they sat down, the waiter came to give them the menu, and they both agreed to order light meals to fill their stomachs.

Hana was busy with her smartphone, and Avrora was looking at the view outside with her chin resting on her hand.

As she was enjoying the view of the small garden outside the cafe, her eyes caught sight of someone familiar talking to a woman outside a car.

Her eyes widened, she sat up straight and looked closely at the person she thought she recognized.

"Why does that man look like Steven? But Steven hasn't come home yet, has he?" she muttered.

She was now overcome with anxiety. Previously, she had trusted Steven completely without a shred of suspicion. But hearing Hana's words and seeing what she had just seen, other thoughts began to disturb her.

She got up from her seat and walked toward the corner of the cafe, which was not far from the highway, so she could confirm her suspicions clearly.

Now Avrora stood in front of the glass that separated her from the street. From outside the cafe, people couldn't see anything inside, but from inside she could clearly see that the man was indeed Steven talking to the woman, and they seemed close just by looking at Steven's rare smile that Avrora had never seen before.

Her suspicion grew stronger when Avrora's attention shifted to the bouquet of flowers in the woman's hand that Steven had just given her, and soon they got into the car and drove away.

"Stev... why? Why is it really you? What did I do wrong that you could cheat on me?" she muttered.

She leaned her body against the window. Everything she had seen in just a few minutes had broken her defenses.

Tears fell down her cheeks, which Avrora couldn't hold back. She cried silently because she realized that she was still in a public place, and surely many people were watching her.

For a moment, Avrora was silent to calm her chaotic heart. She didn't want to be the center of attention. Avrora quickly stood up straight and wiped her tears with the back of her hand. She fixed her expression so that Hana wouldn't worry.

In the blink of an eye, Avrora was back to her old self, as if nothing had happened to her. She returned to her seat and saw that Hana was still busy with her smartphone.

Hana looked up when she realized Avrora had returned to her seat. "Av, where have you been?"

"I—I was just in the bathroom," Avrora replied nervously. She glanced to the right and left, confused about how to divert Hana's attention if she asked too many questions.

"Oh... I was wondering where you were, because our order has arrived. But when I looked, you were gone."

Hearing Hana's answer, Avrora was relieved that her friend wasn't paying too much attention to her.

"What are you doing? You haven't eaten anything, you're just busy with your smartphone. Who are you chatting with anyway?" Avrora stood up a little so she could peek at her friend's chat, but quickly turned off the screen.

"Nothing. It was just a friend who accidentally messaged me to work on an assignment together."

And Avrora didn't ask any further questions. The two of them now enjoyed breakfast together. Just a few pancakes and caramel milk coffee that melted in their mouths.

Avrora was already in a bad mood, she wasn't even interested in the food in front of her and only ate a few bites so that Hana wouldn't nag her.

After finishing breakfast, they both left the cafe and got back into the car that was parked on the side of the road.

Before starting the engine, Avrora turned to Hana, unsure of how to bring it up.

"Hana, it looks like we won't be going out today. My uncle suddenly called me, and I couldn't refuse. You... aren't mad, right?" Avrora asked carefully. She was the one who invited Hana in the first place, and she was also the one who canceled.

"It's okay. I'm not mad. Besides, I'm not busy or anything. Just take me back home, because I don't feel like looking for a taxi."

"Okay. Thank you and I'm sorry, I was the one who invited you, and I'm the one who canceled."

Avrora drove her car back to Caroline's residence and dropped Hana off at the gate.

Avrora rolled down the window and leaned her head out a little to say goodbye, "Sorry, I'm in a hurry so I can't come in. Just say hi to Uncle and Auntie for me. Bye..."

She waved and closed the car window. Hana responded with a nod and a wave. After that, the car sped away from Caroline's residence toward wherever it could find peace.

As Avrora drove the car, she couldn't hold back the tightness in her chest. Her tears finally spilled over and wet her cheeks.

She drove the car at high speed without regard for her safety. All she could think about was how to relieve the tightness in her chest that wouldn't go away.

"Damn you, Stev... if it's really what I think it is, this time I will never forgive you!" She gripped the steering wheel tightly. Her face was bright red, contrasting with her fair skin.

Avrora drove to a secluded beach that few people knew about. She parked her car not far from the shore and got out to enjoy the fresh sea breeze.

Still wearing the same outfit, the only difference was that this time she took off her high heels and chose to go barefoot to enjoy the warm white sand.

She sat alone, bending her knees and hiding her face there. She was accompanied only by the gentle breeze and the sound of the waves crashing on the shore, a soothing sound.

"Hiks... Mom, I've been betrayed again," she muttered between muffled sobs.

Avrora cried over her misfortune alone for a long time without anyone hearing or disturbing her, until someone suddenly covered her body with a coat.

Feeling someone approaching and draping a cloth over her, Avrora lifted her head. The first thing she saw was a tall man crouching in front of her.

Their eyes met instantly. Avrora was momentarily stunned by the dark eyes that slowly turned golden as they stared deeply at her.

"Be careful not to catch the flu. The wind at sea with bad weather can give you a fever," said the man.

After saying that, he stood up and was about to leave Avrora, but first he grabbed her wrist.

The man turned his head, without a word, without a smile, only a faint trace of sadness that was barely visible.

"Thank you for the jacket. I'll return it later."

The man released Avrora's wrist, "No need. I still have things to do and I won't disturb you crying."

The man, who was none other than Leizac, left Avrora without explanation. But behind his sturdy back, he held back an indescribable longing. If he could, Leizac would have wanted to embrace and comfort Avrora, who was in such a state of despair. But now was not the right time for them to meet properly. He still needed time to control himself from the curse of reincarnation that bound him.

"Avrora… be patient. We will meet again, my Luna."
