CHAPTER 50
Lucian's fingers extended into sharp, black claws as the Sentinel thundered toward him. Intent on grinding him into the tree silt, the beast lunged—but Lucian didn't retreat.
He lunged right back, he snatched up the broken trunk of the tree he had just shattered. He swung the massive timber like a club, channeling his royal strength into the arc.
The wood connected with the Sentinel's jaw with a sickening thud. The beast's head whipped to the side, teeth flying into the mist as its massive frame staggered.
Lucian didn't give it a heartbeat to recover. He dropped the trunk and launched himself forward, his claws digging into the creature's thick body.
He began to climb the monster, shredding through muscle and matted fur, pulling himself upward toward the throat.
His crimson eyes were locked on the skeletal head, his mind a roar of focused intent. He reached the Sentinel's massive shoulder, his hand raised to strike at the base of its skull and compel it once more.
