Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: Light in the Deep Night

Although it felt a bit strange, Maranhao and Marietta simply assumed their junior was just a bit introverted, which was why she wasn't very enthusiastic about talking or greeting them.

Therefore, after the two of them tidied their beds, they took turns going to the bathroom to shower and then went to bed.

Actually, at first, they had wanted to show some concern for their junior by asking Lynn if she wanted to shower first and get some rest early.

After all, the first day of school for a first-year student is always the most exciting, and by comparison, the most mentally draining, so they need proper rest even more.

But then they saw Lynn, who had already finished tidying her things, placed her books on the desk, set her schoolbag aside, and sat down to read.

The two of them tacitly swallowed their questions as they looked at Lynn's simple, even spartan, desk and bed.

Maranhao and Marietta couldn't help but look at their own desks—filled with photo frames, calendars, and alarm clocks—and their beds topped with plushies, falling into a subtle silence.

Compared to the rich inner thoughts of Cho and Marietta, Lynn didn't have any psychological fluctuations.

Organizing things takes time, so she never prepared redundant items for herself.

Although the suitcase given to her by the HP world consciousness contained many desk ornaments and cute plushies, she only had one thought when looking at them.

"They might interfere with my study time." Therefore, she naturally didn't take those things out; instead, she left them in the suitcase and shoved it under the bed.

Immediately after, she sat at the desk with her History of Magic textbook and began reading, subconsciously ignoring the sound of splashing water from the bathroom.

After finishing her shower and drying her hair, Maranhao blinked as she looked at Lynn, who was still sitting at the desk reading, and then turned to her friend Marietta.

"Has she... been reading this whole time?"

Marietta, who had also dried her hair, nodded while hugging her teddy bear. "Yes, and she's already finished the History of Magic textbook and started on the Potion Class one."

"Merlin..." Maranhao sighed, turning back to look at Lynn.

This junior was truly too fond of studying; she would definitely be the top of the grade this year.

Silently drawing their bed curtains, Maranhao and Marietta's beds were instantly plunged into darkness. Closing their eyes, they soon drifted off to sleep.

Lynn, still engrossed in her books, didn't notice that her two roommates had already gone to rest.

It wasn't until she finished the Potion Class textbook and set it aside to switch to the Herbology Class textbook that she noticed her two roommates were already in bed.

Lowering her eyes, Lynn glanced at the watch on her wrist; to better control her study time, she had specifically prepared a watch for herself.

This was also the only "accessory" on her entire body.

At 12:30 AM, it was still far from time to rest, so Lynn turned back and picked up the Herbology Class textbook to begin studying.

Whether others studied or not had nothing to do with her, just as she could calmly watch armed personnel drag students who needed to be destroyed out of their homes, or even calmly allow armed personnel to drag her away. She only knew that she should study hard and cherish every bit of study time.

Turning the book to the next page, Lynn rapidly memorized the contents.

After some sleep, Maranhao was woken up by the urge to pee. She sat up, rubbed her eyes, and was stunned the moment she pulled back her bed curtains.

The lights in the Dormitory were still on, and Lynn was still sitting at her desk reading. Every bed curtain in the Dormitory was enchanted with magic.

They could block out external light and sound to ensure everyone's rest.

So, before opening the curtains, Maranhao hadn't expected, nor did she know, that Lynn was still reading. She thought Lynn had gone to sleep long ago!

With a face full of shock, she picked up the nearby alarm clock to check the time, and the shock on her face immediately intensified.

3:30 AM?! It was 3:30 AM and Lynn was still reading!

Maranhao swallowed hard, got out of bed, slipped on her slippers, and walked over to Lynn.

Lynn sensed someone nearby, but since the other person didn't speak, she couldn't stop studying. Thus, as if she hadn't seen her, she continued reading.

"Lynn... are you too nervous? Why haven't you rested yet at this hour?"

Hearing Maranhao's question, Lynn placed the book face down on the desk and turned to look at her expressionlessly.

"This is my normal study time. It isn't time for me to sleep yet."

Maranhao's eyes widened instantly at Lynn's answer, and she looked at her in disbelief.

"Normal study time?! It's not time for you to sleep? No, then what time do you sleep?"

"Four o'clock," Lynn replied without any fluctuation in her tone.

"Four o'clock?!" Maranhao exclaimed. "Do you only sleep for four hours?"

Hogwarts' first class starts at nine, so most students generally get up at eight to go to the Great Hall for breakfast.

Lynn flatly denied Maranhao's guess about her sleep duration.

"No, four to five is my sleep time. It ensures my body's most basic needs."

"That doesn't ensure anything at all!" Maranhao felt like she was going crazy hearing about her sleep schedule.

Sleeping only one hour a day?! It was a miracle this child, Lynn, had even grown up!

"Aren't... aren't you sleepy during the day?"

"No," Lynn shook her head, then stated a fact. "I don't get sleepy."

Maranhao pursed her lips. "You..."

Though she wanted to offer some advice, seeing Lynn's expressionless face and considering they weren't very close yet, Maranhao ultimately gave up.

She only gave a worried instruction: "Don't push yourself too hard. Get some rest early."

She turned and went into the washroom. After using the toilet, Maranhao returned to her bed, drew the curtains, and went back to sleep.

However, in her subsequent dreams, she seemed to dream of a person with a blurred face.

Holding a wand and waving it constantly behind her, they shouted loudly.

"Sleeping so much every day! Are you a pig?! Get up and study, now!"

The terror of it was enough to make a study-loving Ravenclaw like Maranhao shudder violently in her dream.

It wasn't until 4:00 AM that Lynn closed her book, lay down on the bed with her clothes on and shoes off, and closed her eyes. Although she didn't feel sleepy, her body, which was always kept in a state of extreme exhaustion, allowed her to fall asleep the moment she closed her eyes.

Just one short hour later, Lynn's biological clock woke her up precisely on time.

Moving nimbly, she got out of bed, grabbed a change of clothes from the foot of the bed, and headed straight for the washroom to take a quick shower before heading out for morning self-study.
