Chapter 1 - Fareword

In the lands of Rubrum Vallem, under the reign of Samir Lapis-Griseo, many unified colonies coexisted, sharing their culture and customs in the tranquility of the mountains and plains. Prince Fortis would inherit his father's throne, having been born before his twin brother, Emer.

For years, Emer harbored resentment toward his parents for not considering him. He wished they would divide the kingdom in two so they could both rule over equal portions of land, but this was never considered. Instead, he was betrothed to Princess Meralda of Bourness. This dispute with his parents did not seem to affect the brotherly bond between the siblings, who continued to write letters to each other for years until Fortis's coronation, when he joyfully invited his brother and sister-in-law to the celebratory feast.

Fortis had just married Princess Manady Carresme of the Valgon kingdom when Emer and his wife arrived. The King of Bournes couldn't help but be captivated by Manady's beauty, but his attempts to approach her were unsuccessful until he found her alone in one of the halls away from the festivities and gave her the belt that adorned the hilt of his sword. Fortis, finding them alone, easily recognized the belt Manady wore on her wrist. This caused a fight between the twins, which ended with Emer being banished.

During the following years, the rumor was still heard that the love letters Fortis found in Queen Manady's room were what sparked the war between the two kingdoms, causing the death of thousands and the great migration.
