Chapter 7 - 7

Freya's POV

Everywhere became silent.

Oh my parents are so dramatic, I mentally roll my eyes and head to the door.

I open it and Samantha was standing in front of the door in a blue denim jeans and jacket and a cropped shirt beneath with some lettering like

'SKZ'

wow.

Never knew she was a k-pop fan.

"Hi, hope I came on time." She said casually as she curled an eyebrow at my long stare.

"What happened?" She questioned my stare.

I shake my head, " sorry... Come in please."

She stepped in and as I closed the door the sight that greeted me was ridiculous.

Of course mum and dad love to act super classy in front of new people when inside they are such goofballs.

Cause tell me why I turn and see my mum cross-legged with a straight face with a glass of wine in hand.

Where did it even come from?

Don't get me started on dad right now. He was also sitting like mum at the dining tables with his hands pressed together.

"So..dad, mum this is Samantha...my friend." I gestured towards Samantha who was standing there awkwardly.

Wow, such a nice first meeting.

"Hello Mr Drevan, Freya's mum." She greeted me.

"Hello, what do you two plan on doing today? Dad asked as he twirled the wine in his grasp.

"Dad –we are just gonna stroll out and–

"I just intend to show Freya around, since she told me she haven't seen how the city looks like, so I thought maybe we could go a few places and then head back home "

Samantha cut me off and rushed the explanation, not a twitch in her voice.

Wow.

"Yeah mum I promise to not talk or walk stupidly on the road." I added although I didn't necessarily have to put 'stupid' in it.

Mum and dad glanced at each other and like some sort of telepathy power they had agreed at the same time.

"Fine but be back before 4 pm." They both said in unison.

I couldn't help my smile and thanked them immersively and dragged Samantha and myself out the door and ran before they changed their minds.

It's not hard though and I wasn't risking it.

Outside I wheezed so hard that Samantha had to laugh.

"Why did we run though?" She asked, confused.

I glanced at her, shaking my head "nah you don't wanna know."

We left my porch, and as we took a corner, I couldn't help but ask.

"Samantha how did you know where I live...just curious cause I didn't remember giving you my house address?"

She glanced at me, smirked and simply shrugged, "magic."

I was very much not impressed by the joke and she saw it in my expression and sighed.

"Fine, chill...I sneaked into Miss Alia's office."

I was dumbstruck, "you what!?"

"Yeah..no biggie it's not like I stole anything now." She shrugged.

"Well I guess..but wouldn't you have been in trouble if caught?" I have a question.

Although Miss Alia seems kind and all, I know for sure she is not the kind of woman to mess with.

Samantha snickered at my question and threw her arm around my shoulder in a playful manner almost taking me off balance.

"You think too much girl.. chill a bit would you?"

I rolled my eyes and sigh. This is what I'm really signing myself up here.

Oh well.

"So...where are we heading off to?" I glanced at her, having no clue of where she was taking me."

"Nah, nowhere special just hanging around." She replied as we just strolled aimlessly, until I had this question I've always wanted to ask.

"Samantha, if you don't mind me asking...what happened that day at the school cafeteria?"

I'd sworn I saw her eyes flicker an emotion for a split second but didn't question it.

Was it...fear?

What.

"No silly, you were just a newbie. I didn't want anything to happen to you so I had to put you in that closet. I didn't want any injuries on the first day."

That didn't even answer my question but I still persisted.

"Okay...if it wasn't as serious as you said," I air quoted, "then why didn't any teacher come out to stop the fight or something?"

"You worry too much – we're here!" She exclaimed.

Such a way to diversify the topic.

"This is my best place in town." She gestured at a small diner.

I didn't mean to be rude but what's so special about a diner.

"It's not what you think girl –this is my best eating spot in town. I give it a five star rating, trust me." She exclaimed really excited as she bounced a little.

Wow.

It was a small restaurant with multiple colored signs on its top 'Buddy's diner'

It looked simple but classy, might not be bad–

"Common girl, you're staring too long." Samantha exclaimed as she dragged me towards the diner.

Someone sure is sugary today.

"This is the first spot before we continue on the stroll," she smiled, "besides what's the point of a stroll with no food." And added.

I had no choice but to smile brightly at her tactics, she sure loves this place.

We both chuckled as we went inside the diner.

Both my mind is still on that fight incident.
