Lionel equipped "Use Flame Fist on Me" and then patted each corpse in the living room.
After he patted them, the corpses suddenly spontaneously combusted. Starting from the spot Lionel hit, orange Fire engulfed the entire corpse, burning without a sound.
"This!" Matt Jona was stunned. So you're not an exorcist, but a Grand Archmage.
"Such magical Fire. It's burning fiercely, yet I can't feel any heat at all, and there's no sign of the house burning down!"
The Fire produced by the Entry "Use Flame Punch on Me" is only effective on the target it acts upon; it will not burn other objects, nor will it even transfer heat to surrounding objects.
"Burning them like this should free their souls, right? I feel like something's missing?"
Lionel looked at the burning Fire. He always felt something was lacking in this scene full of redemption.
"The bound souls are finally free!" Matt Jona sighed, his wish also fulfilled.
"What's that sound?" Matt Jona suddenly heard music that shouldn't exist.
Lionel put his phone back in his pocket and smiled at Matt Jona, "Oh, I felt a little music would make this scene better."
Matt Jona was startled, then smiled, "It's very fitting."
The flames continued to burn. Just as the corpses were about to be completely consumed, an anomaly suddenly appeared.
Dozens of bandaged ghosts suddenly appeared, densely filling the entire house, surrounding the two men and staring intently at Lionel and Matt Jona, who had started the Fire.
"Are these evil spirits going to resist? Annabelle, what are you doing? Didn't I tell you to keep an eye on them?"
Annabelle looked at him with innocent eyes, as if saying she couldn't stop them either.
"Hey, all you ghosts, don't repay kindness with enmity. I won't show mercy!"
Lionel raised his short knife horizontally before his eyes. His Mystic Eyes of Death Perception, full of meaning of Death, gazed at the many ghosts.
"Mr. Lionel, they mean no harm." Matt Jona pressed Lionel's shoulder, signaling him not to act rashly.
"Tha… Thank… You!"
The ghosts spoke intermittently, then all stretched out their scarred hands and pointed at the two men.
"What are they going to do, a thank-you convention?" Lionel didn't understand what these ghosts were trying to do.
"This… is… a… reward!"
"What does that mean?" Lionel was still puzzled by the ghosts' confusing actions, but Matt Jona beside him cried out in pain and fell to his knees.
"Ah…!"
Lionel suddenly saw an [Entry] appear on Matt Campbell. As for why it wasn't Matt Jona, it was because the ghost Jonah had already left the other's body and was now standing to his right.
Jonah whispered, "These ghosts are curing Matt's cancer."
[Entry]—[Gift of Many Souls]: Souls tormented receive salvation, and in return, a gift is bestowed, removing physical ailments, enhancing spirituality, and granting a Soul Affinity physique.
"This is an Entry describing a state; it can't be taken away. But it seems I also have a few more Entries on me."
[Entry]—[Light of Redemption]: Gain power by redeeming others. The Light of Redemption can accomplish various incredible feats. The more redemption, the stronger the Light of Redemption.
[Entry]—[Soul Power]: A gift bestowed by souls. Soul Power originates from souls and can be enhanced by refining souls, burying souls, or even absorbing souls. Current level lv2: 121/1000.
"These two Entries just appeared on me. It can be confirmed that they were produced by performing rites for these wronged spirits. This should count as performing rites, right?
This trip was truly worthwhile. I gained two versatile Entries. With this Soul Power, can I cosplay as the God of Death? I don't know the effect of the Light of Redemption yet; I can find something to test it with."
After closing his Mystic Eyes of Death Perception, Lionel could still clearly see the ghost Jonah beside him. This was an effect of Soul Power.
"What will happen to you? Will you leave with these wronged spirits?" Lionel asked Jonah beside him.
Jonah showed a relieved smile: "I died long ago. For so many years, I stayed here just to save these souls. Now that they are saved, my time in this World is running out. It's time to leave. It's just a pity that your song was so good, and I also wanted to see the World thirty years later."
"Want to see this era?" Lionel mused, then said, "Perhaps I can help you stay in this World."
Lionel greatly admired this spiritualist named Jonah. His soul was not trapped in the house, and he had continuously tried to save those souls for thirty years, disregarding his own condition, which earned his admiration.
"Really? Thank you so much, Master Lionel!" Jonah was very excited.
Lionel said, "You deserve it, but I need to use your ashes."
"No problem."
During their conversation, the flames had already burned out, leaving no ashes on the ground. The bandaged ghosts had also disappeared, leaving only Matt Campbell gasping on the floor.
Lionel asked Matt Campbell, "Young man, are you alright?"
"I feel great. All the pain in my body is gone, I'm just a little weak." Matt Campbell felt his body return to its pre-cancer state; he hadn't felt this comfortable in a long time.
Helping Matt Campbell to the sofa, Lionel called in the two people who were anxiously waiting outside.
The Old Priest leaned over and asked, "Is it resolved? This time it took much longer than before. Was it very difficult to resolve?"
Lionel smiled and said, "Of course it's resolved, and look who handled it! This time it took longer mainly because the process was very complicated, but the difficulty wasn't actually as great as when I was dealing with it."
As he spoke, Lionel shook Annabelle in his hand.
The Old Priest's smiling face suddenly froze, and he stammered:
"Why did you bring this… this… this thing with you?"
"It's fine, she's very obedient now and won't cause trouble again. Oh, by the way, Father, give me Jonah's ashes; I need to do something with them." Lionel asked the Old Priest for Jonah's ashes.
The Old Priest handed the cloth-wrapped ashes to Lionel and then asked, "This is it. What do you want to do with it?"
"Make it into an amulet, to serve as Jonah's anchor in the human World."
Opening the cloth, Lionel looked at the handful of ashes and used the newly acquired Entry [Light of Redemption]. A light full of redemptive meaning emanated from Lionel's hand. Under the illumination of this light, the ashes in his hand began to transform, becoming a White-grey token with Jonah's large portrait on it.
Feeling the consumption of the Light of Redemption, making such an amulet did not consume much of the Light of Redemption he had obtained; the consumption was not great. Of course, it was also possible that he had gained a lot of Light of Redemption from performing rites for the many ghosts earlier.
"Alright, Jonah, if you attach your soul to this, you can stay in the human World for a long time."
