Chapter 32 - A Knight's Behavior

The Commander appeared beside the Lady of Chains and Whispered Vows again, bowing lightly.

He said, "The royal carriage is already ready, Lady of Chains and Whisphered Vows."

"Mhm." The Lady of Chains and Whispered Vows nodded. "Have you already informed the abyssal scribes? Did they already finish the armor?"

Even when the Commander's face was covered with a helmet, their crimson eyes conveyed he was smiling.

He said, "Yes, Lady of Chains and Whisphered Vows."

The Lady of Chains and Whisphered Vows nodded and smiled.

She turned towards her daughter and said, "You should go and wait for the royal carriage now. Me and your auntie will have a brief conversation first."

"Oh? What do we have to talk about?" The Guardian of Scarlet Bond was deeply intrigued.

Nyxara nodded and bowed. "Thank you, Mother. I will see you soon."

The Lady of Chains and Whisphered Vows gazed at her daughter affectionately and pulled her for a long embrace again.

The Guardian of Scarlet Bond smiled at them, feeling guilty she tried to interrupt their conversation earlier.

Afterwards, Nyxara and Myles left, following the Commander.

The Commander soon arrived outside of the gate of the city mansion. There was a royal carriage waiting outside.

He led Nyxara and Myles on the royal carriage.

He stopped beside the door of the royal carriage, turned around, and bowed.

Nyxara nodded and said, "Thank you, my Bloodsworn."

"You're welcome, Mistress." The Commander bowed deeply.

Nyxara walked and touched the door. The door magically opened like curtains parting ways with each other, and the stairs descended.

Nyxara stepped upon the stairs and entered. Myles followed behind her.

Although from the outside, the royal carriage space inside might not be massive, but when he entered, he was awe struck by how spacious it actually appeared.

There was a cabinet, dressing table, and four long chairs surrounding a table. At least, one long chair could cover four people.

Nyxara sat at one of the long chairs as she turned towards Myles and said, "You should place the Velour Coffin Satchel there."

Myles turned his head where Nyxara was pointing at and raised his eyebrows when he saw an area where there were chains around the empty space. He walked towards there, placed the Velour Coffin Satchel on the empty space and the chains suddenly locked it.

Nyxara said, "We will get our things later. For now, we should take a rest and wait for my auntie."

Myles sat beside Nyxara and asked, "Should I even remain here? Or accompany the Commander outside?"

Nyxara furrowed her eyebrows and was about to say something when she paused.

She sighed. "I see. You're wary of my auntie. You're right. You should act like an actual knight. You should ask my Bloodsworn how to act."

Myles nodded. He gazed at Nyxara and grabbed her neck, pulling it towards his face, as he smacked her lips.

Nyxara closed her eyes and reciprocated passionately, and they kissed for quite a long time, until Nyxara pushed Myles away from him.

She said, "You should restrain now."

Myles was surprised by her words. He then recalled his previous promise to himself—to conquer his lust.

Now, he was being conquered by lust and it left a bitter taste in his mouth.

He smiled at Nyxara and nodded.

Without hesitation, he turned around and left the royal carriage.

In the outside, the Commander was standing beside the door. Strangely though, when Myles turned back and glanced at the open door, he could see nothing inside.

He did not dwell on it longer as he stood beside the Commander and asked, "Are there any space at your seat?"

The Commander immediately replied, "Yeah. You can sit there later. I'm surprised that you really went inside. Have you forgotten you are a knight? You're bypassing our master's privacy, you know."

Myles smiled and said in an apologetic tone, "I apologized."

The Commander thought for a while and replied, "I think the Mistress doesn't mind anyway."

Myles didn't say anything.

Soon, they waited in silence for the Guardian of Scarlet Bond to arrive. Once she left the gate and walked towards the royal carriage, the Commander and Myles bowed deeply, waiting for her to disappear inside the royal carriage.

Once she went inside, the royal carriage closed and the stairs disappeared.

The Commander turned around and walked towards the box seat followed behind Myles.

Myles glanced at the horse and was surprised there were two of them. It appeared he would really have to accompany the Commander for being a coachman.

Once she sat at the box seat, he scrutinized the horses.

They were tall jet-black abyssal horses with smooth, obsidian-like hide and faint crimson vein lines running beneath their skin. Their eyes glowed softly like banked embers.

Myles grabbed the reins and they were perfect on his hand size. He turned towards the Commander and read his actions.

When the Commander raised the reins, he did so with a less than a second delay.

And when the Commander abruptly swung the reins, he immediately imitated.

When the Commander shouted, "Hoo! Hah!"

He shouted, as well.

The Commander turned towards him and said, "That wasn't necessary at all."

Myles smiled. "I see. So, you're just playing with me."

The Commander chuckled and nodded.

The horses soon led them towards the Runemaker Quarters.

When they arrived at the Runemaker Quarters, the Commander instructed Myles to leave the box seat and followed him.

Myles asked, "Shouldn't we inform them?"

The Commander shook his head as he continued walking.

"They are already aware and it's our business. Furthermore, the royal carriage can handle even demon nobles attacks. Furthermore, the horses can sense danger ahead of time. Their single neigh can stun the attackers' attacks and will immediately inform us."

The Commander soon led Myles on the Runemaker Quarters.

The Runemaker Quarters was heavily isolated. It lacked windows and there was only a single one person door.

The Commander touched many times the different parts of the door with his index finger before grabbing the door knob and twisted it.

They entered the Runemake Quarters and the door closed by itself before Myles was about to do so.
