Chapter 4 - Livestream Aftermath

Even as the livestream ended, Elias' eyes remained glued on the screen, his face was one of disbelief.

"Video games," he uttered to himself. Then again, it somewhat makes sense. They could try it in games and see if there are any problems in the softwares. Once software passes the test, it will be easier to connect the system to robots and droids.

Then, they just have to repair the bugs in the movements and connections for the future that the President envisioned to be viable.

Yet, he could scarcely believe what the woman said near the end of the livestream.

"Since this is revealed in the livestream, then, will InterCorp sell this VR system?" Lian Jian asked.

To their surprise, the President shook his head.

"Instead of selling it, InterCorp will hand it out to everyone."

Silence filled the room before a collective 'WHAT!?' filled it seconds later.

Elias shook his head at the memory. No doubt the President will be badgered by InterCorp's board. The VR system is a great way to make money and they will grumble over the President's decision to just give it for free.

"Well, not my problem." He muttered to himself. Connecting to InterCorp's website, he quickly inputted the number he received from his account.

In seconds, he received a reply; that the system will arrive tomorrow.

'Does the President intend for everyone to receive the gaming system on InterCorp's anniversary?' he wondered before deciding to not think much and just head back to sleep.

President Paige looked at the Board of Directors with a bored look on her face. Seeing how she treated them like they were airs, one of the directors slammed his palm on the table.

"Miss President! I hope you understand the severity of the issues!" He yelled. The man quickly regretted his action when the President glared at him, her red eyes promising painful retribution.

Other members of the Board of Directors thanked themselves for having greater patience … and being slower than the other guy.

"And, what is so severe with my decision?" She asked, her voice sweet yet sound sharp enough to cut through both steel and soul.

The aggressive one (as Paige dubbed him) opened and closed his mouth like a fool, yet no sound came out. It's the person that was next to him that answered for them.

"It's about the decision to hand the system to the global populace. Sure, it is now a gaming system, but it could be something more. Plus, the profits from selling it will be substantial, even for InterCorp."

Priestess Paige did her best to not roll her eyes. Of course it's profit for these lots.

"My decision is final and I have already made the plan to hand it out even before the livestream." She replied.

The Board of Directors looked like they wanted to continue pushing, so she played her next card, "Do all of you want to ruin InterCorp's reputation?"

Her words silenced them. As much as it hurts them to be denied such a huge bankroll, it is not worth it if the price is InterCorp's near stellar reputation.

"The shareholder will be noisy during the next meeting," one of them pointed out.

"Let them be noisy. In the end, they are the one to ride our coattails, not us being supported by their money." To that, the Board of Directors could not disagree.

The shareholders only invested a lot of money once InterCorp rose to the top. Before that, it was mostly self-funded by the founder of InterCorp, who remained a mystery to this day.

"In that case, I will let you handle them, Miss President," the calm one told her. She already planned on doing that, or she won't be chosen as the position of President of InterCorp/Head Priestess.

Elias woke up, did some light stretches before heading outside, ready for a quick job. Yet, as he opened the door, a box appeared in his vision.

 "What?
