Chapter 6 - The Office II

The whole ride to the office, I rack my brain to any possible excuse, running on constant simulations that to be honest seems possible but at the same time terrible.

Among all those simulations I either got reprimanded so badly or worse loss my job and all the studying i did before will be all for nothing.

I guess Professor Winston, That guy really wasn't lying when he said all the book and achievements will be all for nothing when you got into the work industry.

When i reach the office, i was taken aback to see all my coworkers from the homicide division packing up their things even the one i been seeing in the corner of my eye always sleeping was awake at the whole thing.

"Come with us" Anthony said to me with a firm expression and i couldn't even brace myself for what to come.

Ridding by the passenger seat next to Anthony the whole hour of long ride caused by heavy traffic was excruciatingly suffocating. I could even hear the sound of my heary breathing through my ear.

Finally after multiple turns to the road i whispered to Anthony, "Where are we going?"

"To a crime scene, There are seventeen bodies found near the outskirts of the city One men and Sixteen Women" Anthony replied with a stiff tone.

My eyes widened at his words, "That's a lot.."

Seventeen bodies? How was that possible and how did so many people die all at once and even if they didn't die all at once how can someone kill seventeen people and manage to hide it?

At the crime scene, We entered a decent looking house by the suburbs. The flowery potted plants were thriving filling the place with color. It makes your brain refuse to register that inside it is where seventeen bodies were found.

Standing in front of the house, Chief Simon begun to bark out orders, "Johnson, Angela you two search the area. Miguel, Juan go to the back and the rest of us will search the house"

"Yes sir"

"Alright Sir"

The inside of the house was very clean and neat, it's like walking into a model house. "The owner must be a germaphobe" I muttered.

"Must be what they call an ocd this days" Anthony said behind me with Chief Simon leading us in front.

Scanning the whole place, i can't help but mumbled out, "It's like a doll house"

Suddenly I bumped into something hard and i took a step back noticing who i bumped into. Chief Simon placed a hand on my shoulder, "What did you say?

"A doll house?" I replied, "It's just way to clean and neat like a doll house"

"Did you read the file?" Chief Simon asked me once more, "The sixteen bodies and their states"

"Yes? It's-"

Chief Simon pulled his hand away and sight, "Youngsters this days, can you believe this?"

Anthony only shrugged his shoulders, "Selective reading, Very typical trait for us"

"Wha-" I tried to understand what they are talking about only to realize my mistake, "I'm sorry" I did indeed not read the whole thing, only hovering my eyes to what catch my eyes.

Like the man found dead here was the owner of the house we are stepping into.

"Let's continue" Chief Simon Said to us and the three of us walked into this small room with one single chair placed in the middle, a hanging light still on.

"That's where the man's body was found" Anthony explained taking out a small brown envelope towards me but before i could grasp it he let go and it fell scattered on the floor, making me flinch in response.

I let out a shaky breath when i saw it, The bodies, The Gore and the empty stares of what once people. The seventeen of them.

I took a step back processing my thoughts, I did hear, read and talk about crime scenes, a crime, murder and a victim. But to see it and be within the same room where all those people have lingered.

"I told you he wasn't ready yet"

"It's his first time"

"This is horrible" I said, putting a hand on my mouth.

"What you knew one of them?" Chief Simon asked me but i only replied with a question.

"No, But this is horrible wasn't it? This people there dead. Everything just gone"

The Chief and Anthony looked at each other and back at me.

"You'll get used to it" They both said in unison.
