Chapter 143 - Chapter 143 - Lana's Rage

Lana locked eyes with her enemy, "this bitch is mine. No one touches her."

Barica laughed maniacally, "thank you dear. I'll make this swift."

Lightning cracked and Lana deflected it once again, "do you only have a single trick in you?"

Her face twisted in anger and disgust, "surely a monster such as yourself, who terrorized her family her whole life would be more gifted than this…"

Her eyes grew harder and the green sparkles became more intense, "Please. Give me a reason to fear you."

Her voice was dangerous, "fight me, you cocky bitch!"

Barica's eyes twitched. Suddenly she was on her knees, "Lana, it's me Bianca! Please don't' kill me!"

Lana laughed with murder in her eyes. The memories all came flooding back. The things she saw and heard in the orphanage. Pucket terrorizing her in school.

The vile things Barica forced her family to do, those she was supposed to protect and nurture. The most innocent of them all mistreated in the most horrendous ways.

She thought it was laughable that Barica allowed Bianca to come out so she decided to voice that as well.

"Bianca, don't think you're innocent in this. You didn't stop it. None of you did. You all have a lot to make up for. Since she's in your body with no way to get her out, I suggest you just let her take back control. One of us dies today."

Lana had no whip in her hand. She had no weapon ready at all. She hadn't even put any armor on. This was a far different woman compared to the last time she faced Barica. Kyle watched her beaming with Pride.

Dobin wondered where his sister was and who was this amazingly strong woman who replaced her. Tanisha grinned with pride that her brother picked such an amazing woman.

Barica regained control of the body with a growl, "you little upstart! This is my family. Mine! I built this! I'm stronger than you!" She screamed the last few words and put all of her MC into the next lightning strike.

Again, Lana deflected it back to her.

An ear-splitting scream erupted from her throat as Barica absorbed a lightning strike created by herself. Their family naturally had a lot of magical energy. They believed it was a result of being bred with a magical race.

Never did she anticipate encountering someone stronger than her. Her mentality was skewed. Barica's power was stronger than the others, but she never flexed her mindset to the fact she was in a far weaker body.

She would have been better served to bide her time, get stronger, then reveal herself.

Lana stared at the charred remains of her mother-in-law and realized she was still very much affected by what had happened in the past. At the same time, she never once used an offensive skill in the fight. How strong is this new power?

Lana slowly walked toward what was her enemy just moments before. She refused to touch the book because they didn't know if the soul was still partially in there.

She formed a small ball of energy, shaping her hands the way she wanted the energy to form around Bianca and the book. She thickened the walls of the sphere then created multiple points of energy from the inside of the sphere all pointed at the book.

Within the sphere, the book hovered in the center all on its own. It was starting to glow and pulsate the more energy went into it. Lana started to strain herself with the amount of energy she was using.

"Get back! Everyone! To the cage!" she screamed.

Not a single person headed that direction. Kent tried to run to her, but Kyle scooped him up. "She's got this, Son."

"Get Back!!!" she screamed again.

This time they listened. They entered the cage and noticed how all the birds flew to the top of the aviary as well. They watched as the spell on the book making it indestructible fought the energy Lana was using to destroy it.

They watched as the book collapsed into itself. A maniacal laughter echoed throughout even though there should have been no echo. The sound abruptly stopped as the energy within the bubble became too much to be contained.

Lana was knocked off her feet, flew back 20 feet to the wall, and wasn't moving. The perches for the birds, the trees, everything in a 30-foot radius were destroyed. There was a small crater where her sphere once was.

Kyle didn't wait for the debris to settle. He raced to his wife's side and cradled her. He could feel breath on his cheek, so he carried her from the bird-poop room.

Dobin opened and held the cage door for him, made sure no birds joined them, then Tanisha opened the outer door. While carrying his wife to bed would have been more appropriate, Kyle needed to have a conversation first.

"Let's go to the drawing room on the second floor," he said.

Tanisha stiffened at the emotions in his voice while Dobin liked him more and more very day.

It took several minutes getting there. They could hear coughing and even throwing up on the other side of doors they passed.

As they approached the room, Tanisha ran ahead to get the door. She knew Kyle would kick it in based on his mood. She didn't want to have it repaired.

He walked in carrying his wife as if he did it every day. Dobin wouldn't have doubted if he did. He sat on a couch so he could lay her legs out straight, making her comfortable while spoke.

"Prismatic Poison. We learned about this the day we rescued the werewolves from the company. There was a room…." He sighed, "there is no cure as of the last time we were there. Dobin, I need you to contact Cece Techno. We need to know what she thinks could result in a cure. Tanisha, I need you to see how many were infected."

He caressed his wife's cheek, "I know we should be at school right now. But I don't give a damn. I know this family has its problems, but we are all victims of Barica. Based on what we learned about this poison, there's no way she infected the whole house. We find out how many are still healthy and they help tend the sick."

He looked Tanisha in the eyes, "this is deadly and painful but it's prolonged. It's created with suffering in mind. This isn't going to be easy on you. I'll get the family card from Gerald to handle expenses. We'll come back on the weekends to deal with that while we search for the cure."

Tanisha's face turned more and more pale as her brother spoke. Cooking, cleaning, everything… "Any other instructions for me?"
