Chapter 20 - Double Cases

"Me?" Heimfher replied while pointing his own finger to himself.

Dumbfounded by the sudden order from Murph, Heimfher was unable to say his answer.

'Just the three of us? Is it really enough? W- well i guess there's enough strength? Duskiell is good with his fire magic.. And i have a lot of mana in my body so i can keep spamming fireballs.. Bentley will be the one that guide us to the kidnapper's hideout– So that means he's the one that we need to protect—

'It should be doable if the culprit were just a few people, if they have more than 10, then it might be a little troublesome.'

As Heimfher was thinking deeply about all of the possibilities that might happen, Duskiell and Bentley instead accepted the order without much hesitation.

"Aye aye." Duskiell said.

"No problem, it should be easy.. Atleast if the kidnapper weren't an advanced awakened." Bentley added with a chuckle as he scratched the back of his head.

Seeing as how his colleagues was quite confident, Heimfher eventually also decided to accept.

"Okay."

Murph smiled at the three and appreciated them, he expressed his thanks before he walked towards the opposite direction of where they were walking, moving back to where they came from.

Step!

Step!

Step!

"All of you don't mind right if we work with the capital?" Murph asked, his question specifically targeted at Carlessa, Lena, and Harith.

"Fine by me.. But that old geezer always piss me off– Fighting someone from Dead Deity Order huh— That sounds fun." Carlessa answered, her pupils constricted and her lips was shaking in excitement.

"Well, if those from Dead Deity Order can be caught within my strings trap, it won't be that much of a problem.. Its probably not going to happen though." Harith also replied, he laughed as if trying to hide his anxiety.

Other than them, Lena being the shy girl she was, spoke only a few words, though even if she was bad at showing her emotion to others, Heimfher could still clearly see the fear in her eyes.

"It will be fine with my heal.. Right?" She said.

A while later, above the sewer—

Heimfher stood beside the hole that was made by the chimera, he had gotten out of the sewer and realized that it was already night time, now that the sky had turned dark, all of the houses was shining with yellow as their lamps brighten the surrouding with their flickering flame.

The first thing that Heimfher noticed when leaving the sewer was the fact that almost every division in the Protection Bureau was gathering around him to seal the area completely, multiple carriages had arrived when they were inside the sewer and all of the civilians that lived in the area had also been relocated by the bureau.

"Good work, Murph." A man wearing similar outfit to Murph was seen approaching him from the crowd of officers.

"Ah, Leader.. Nice to meet you." Murph replied calmly, he shook the hand of the man that had approached him and they soon talked with each other.

Ignoring Murph, Heimfher was also approached by Duskiell, he touched his shoulder and gave Heimfher a thumbs up while the other officers are cleaning up the area.

"Good job for today kiddo, and looks like you and i will still be together for quite some time." He said with a smile.

"R- right.." Heimfher then brushed off Duskiell's arm from his shoulder.

"Do we continue tomorrow?"

"Huh? You want to rest now? Come on, there's a lot of people waiting to get saved by us, we can't just sleep and forget about them until the next morning." Duskiell replied, his face was obviously mocking Heimfher, and it angered him for a few seconds.

"U- Ugh!.. Fine! Let's go save those missing people and go home." Heimfher said out of frustration.

"Bentley! Where should we go?"

Heimfher was starled to be asked by Heimfher, but he quickly calmed himself and nodded, he then pulled out the necklace that was owned by the woman that previously complained in the bureau building before chanting out his magic.

"Findelve, Bless this ignorant soul with thy wisdom, show me where this dearest piece belongs to!"

Soon, the pendulum in his right hand began to be pulled by some mysterious force, and Bentley pointed towards the direction of where the pendulum was swinging.

"Okay, then let's get started." Duskiell said as he took a step forward, following the direction given by Bentley.

"Ah wait for me!" Heimfher shouted, he jogged his way to get close with Duskiell and Bentley.

While Murph and the others were busy handling with everyone else in the area, Heimfher had already left from there and was heading into the location of the hideout of the kidnapper.

"Hoohh.. Looks like they still have some energy left." Carlessa said after she saw Heimfher and Duskiell separating from them.

"Maybe its because of his monstrous mana veins.. He doesn't seem to be tired.." Harith added.

As the two was watching Heimfher disappear from their vision, they suddenly heard a shout from behind.

"WHAT?!" The voice sounded like a middle-aged man.

When Carlessa and Harith turned their head around, they saw Murph talking to an officer about their findings in the sewer. The officer that was talking to Murph turns out to be the leader, or commander to the Protection Bureau in Monetre, his name is Lock Yorthat.

"A Dead Deity Order symbol?!.." Lock said, his face was baffled by the information he just received.

"Are you certain!?"

Murph's shoulder was being swayed repeatedly by Lock as he demanded for further explanation.

"It's TruUuEEe.." Murph said whilst his head was oscillating.

"A scythe cutting a bleeding wilted rose, who else could it be if it isn't the Dead Deity Order.. Im serious about this, that's why i need you to send a help request to the Capital Branch of the Bureau.. It may not be just one person, if there's multiple members of the Dead Deity Order, then there's a huge risk that a portion of the city may be destroyed—

"That chimera corpse too, you think a chimera would appear in the city randomly in the middle of the afternoon? In the first place, a chimera isn't a natural creature, it was created by sick people to fulfill their wicked wish."

Lock was left stunned by the information he heard, he let go of his hands from Murph's shoulder and frowned seriously.

"I understand, i'll do my best to get help from the capital.. They have stronger detector awakened after all, so finding a few members of those cult would probably be not that much of a problem– But what about the kidnapping case? You're going to ignore that?" Lock asked.

His question was answered almost immediately by Murph as if he had already expected him to ask that.

"I've sent a few of my members to continue the investigation, that's also one of the reason why i need people from the capital to help me, with this much cases involving an awakened, its impossible to deal with them at the same time."

"I- is that so, understood.." Lock replied with a nod.

"Sorry, that you had to deal with all this.. The truth is i wanted to add more awakened divisions, but gathering materials for a ritual isn't easy.. And they costs way too much money to be bought."

At the same time, in the South district of the city—

The night was still young, the two moons shone with blinding light as they slowly rises to the sky, owls and nightly birds howled, unknown creatures lurked in the shadows of the city edges, roaring and grunting as they searched for prey.

The city of Monetre glowed in yellow hue, few people roamed the night, few people worked in the night, some lured customers by exposing their beauty, while others lured customer by their captivating scent of delicate dish.

However, underneath all of those lively atmosphere, was a secret society that sells and distribute expensive materials and items to be used as a god ritual.

A certain building in the south district looked like a normal tavern, yet everyone that had entered always seems to be showing some sort of a ticket to the tavern owner.

A few minutes passed by, and three figure covered with hooded cloak entered the same tavern, their entire appearance was covered from head to toe by their cloak, and they only revealed their voice as one of them spoke to the tavern owner while showing a ticket.

"A trade for faith."

The tavern owner, which is a man in his 50's and has a thick beard, saw the ticket that the cloaked figure was holding and nodded.

"Go through that door." He said while pointing his finger towards a wooden door on the side of the room.

The three cloaked figure didn't say anything after that, they only nodded back before they walked towards the door silently.

After opening the door and walking through a long set of staircase that headed down, the three figure arrived at a place that was an underground market, filled with people in suits, coats, and the same plain cloak they were wearing.

Shady figures sells various strange materials, while the others confidently shouted to everyone that they were selling a rare ritual material for an unknown God.

The three hooded figure stood still for a few seconds, then they moved. Looking at one store to another, until they found a vendor selling something that piqued their interest.

"Ohh! Welcome! what do you want mister?" The vendor said with a smile.

"How much is this?" One of the cloaked figure answered, he grabbed a glass bottle that contained a floating ball of light.

"T- thats.." The vendor suddenly turned nervous as he didn't expect the customer infront of him to choose that product specifically.

"That's a fairy soul.. Mister are you sure about it?"

"Yes." The cloaked figure replied in an instant.

Left with no choice, and also the fact that a customer is always right, the vendor ultimately had to sell the fairy soul to the cloaked figures.

"It's 1800 Golds.." He said, confident that the price was too high.

But he was wrong, the hooded figures soon pulled out 18 large gold coins. In this world, coins are separated into copper, silver, and gold. 10 copper equals a silver, 10 silvers equals a gold. However, what if theres something that was priced at thousands of golds? It'd be inconvenient to bring a whole sack of gold coins, so the king created a new form of ultimate currency for the rich, a large gold coin, worth 100 gold coins per 1 large gold.

Unlike normal coins which is only the size of a normal coin, a large gold coin was roughly 8cm in diameter.

The cloaked figures collected exactly 18 large golds and gave it to the vendor, shocking everyone around the area as an exchange of that much money was rare even in this underground market.

While the whole market was surprised, the three hooded figures quietly smiled, their smile looked demonic under their hood, and when a portion of their skin was revealed under their sleeves, a symbol of a scythe and a bleeding wilted rose was carved on it.
