Chapter 21 - CH.21

Thanos floated in space, watching coldly as the Warriors Three of Asgard advanced.

The Dark Order warriors and interstellar beasts tried to stop them, but they were all swiftly killed.

From where he hovered, Thanos acknowledged their strength—but to him, they were little more than oversized ants. He didn't understand why Odin was sending these three to their deaths, but if they were eager to die, he might as well oblige.

With that thought, he casually slid the Tyrant's Blade from his back and crossed his arms.

Soon, the Warriors Three approached in a tight triangular formation. Volstak led the charge, with Vandall and Hogan flanking him.

Excitement surged through Volstak as he saw the towering purple figure ahead. Kill the enemy leader, and the invasion would be over. He would become a hero of Asgard—and perhaps even rise to the council.

His energy flared, propelling him forward faster.

"Purple sweet potato monster, die!" he roared, swinging his massive double-bladed axe.

Thanos remained rooted in place, shaking his head with mild annoyance.

"You talk too much nonsense," he said, raising his palm.

Volstak's confidence soared. The axe in his hand was legendary—once capable of destroying a satellite a thousand kilometers wide. Surely, he could kill this purple brute in one strike.

"Repent slowly in hell!" Volstak shouted—and slammed the axe down.

The next instant, shock froze him. The axe shattered against Thanos's palm as if it were made of paper.

What… how could this be?

Before he could process it, Thanos's hand shot forward. Volstak's head was crushed like tofu, and blood exploded into the void.

Thanos continued without pause. Volstak's body was obliterated into a cloud of minced flesh, scattering through space.

"No!" Vandall and Hogan bellowed in fury.

Volstak was the eldest, a mentor and brother figure. He had been the strongest of the three, though age and weight had slowed him. His guidance, however, had forged an unbreakable bond among them.

Fueled by grief and rage, Vandall and Hogan unleashed their full power.

"Don't want!"

Thor, watching from afar, let out a roar of fury and grief. Volstak's death ignited both his anger and a desperate need to save the remaining two. But in their frenzy, they were cut down as easily as mosquitoes, blood and flesh scattering through the vacuum in a horrifying, chaotic display.

Odin watched without a flicker of emotion. He regretted only that he hadn't tested Thanos's true power—and now the three had died in vain. But their deaths also made him cautious; even he was not confident he could defeat this being. Asgard's survival hung in the balance.

Thor's disappointment at his father's inaction quickly turned to resolve. Gripping Mjolnir, he surged forward, lightning crackling across his body. The storm energized him as he flew toward Thanos. Any Dark Order warrior or interstellar behemoth touched by the lightning turned instantly to charred remains. No one could stand in his way.

"Don't go! Come back here!" Odin cried, chasing after his son at top speed. Even someone of his power could not confidently face Thanos, and Thor alone was surely no match. If Thor died, who would inherit Asgard's empire?

Seeing his son charge forward, Thanos finally took the Tyrant's Blade from his back. He had underestimated the Warriors Three, but he would not make the same mistake with Thor—or Odin.

Odin was a ruler among Celestials, and the Eternal Spear in his hand was a weapon of deadly precision, rivaled only by Zeus's Thunder God weapon. Thor, weak as he might currently be, had the potential to one day face Thanos, the wielder of all six Infinity Stones. Stormbreaker had almost done the same in another timeline.
