Chapter 365 - Hiding

Uniting the majority and isolating a small minority is the essence of politics.

Divide, isolate, create conflict—as long as you abandon your principles, there are countless ways to do it; it's just that dealing with the aftermath is a bit troublesome.

But for this so-called "aftermath," Emrys had already thought of a solution.

A Primarch, a son of the Emperor, Lord of the First Legion, father of the Dark Angels, Lion El'Jonson, Lyon—how could he not make use of such a perfect "Banner"?

In short, it's just one word… wait!

The ones who should be anxious now are not them, but Avakalorn, who is currently clashing with the Chaos fleet, and governor Hal.

Not them.

Of course, Emrys also didn't plan to just stay in the room; if he remembered correctly, there was another very important key plot point after Lyon awoke.

He found the Astra Militarum officer guarding them outside the door, subtly handed over a gold biscuit, and very amiably stated his idea.

"Could you please inform lord governor that we would like to walk around the hive city? Of course, we are willing to be under constant surveillance and will never go to places that would cause lord governor any difficulty."

Gold is hard currency; this statement is absolutely true.

Because the Aquila and Throne coins promoted by the Imperium are often only usable in the Sol System, while in the dark corners of the Imperium, various locally promoted currencies are basically used, making the types complex.

Rogue Traders generally use simpler goods for trade with local merchants or Governors, such as the most scarce ammunition, minerals, promethium, and other important resources, but because Emrys' weapons were "confiscated," he could only choose gold.

The Astra Militarum officer was a little surprised but skillfully accepted the gold biscuit. Seeing his amiable attitude and lack of aristocratic arrogance in his tone, he softened and said, "I will convey your request to the governor, but whether she will agree, I cannot guarantee."

"Of course."

Emrys smiled and nodded.

If governor Hal was suspicious of them, she would certainly agree to this request.

The reason is simple: from his brief conversation with governor Hal, Emrys discovered the governor's personality. Perhaps due to her distinguished military achievements, she was very proud and conceited.

Such a person, even facing a "Trap" that might very well be set by Chaos, would not back down; instead, she would view it as a challenge.

If they truly were spies sent by Chaos, intending to infiltrate the hive city and destroy important facilities, then this governor would definitely intentionally let them out to find the breach.

Things indeed unfolded as Emrys had expected.

Soon, governor Hal from the front lines agreed to their request, but it had to be under the 'protection' of the Astra Militarum, to prevent them from being harmed by cultists within the hive city.

Emrys naturally would not refuse this point.

He called Zabriel, and surrounded by an entire company of Astra Militarum, ostensibly for 'protection' but actually for 'monitoring,' they walked out of the mansion.

However, to the surprise of Zabriel, including these Astra Militarum, Emrys seemed to genuinely be sightseeing, deliberately avoiding important facilities.

It was the same for one day, and then two days.

Even governor Hal, upon receiving the intelligence, couldn't help but feel a bit of self-doubt about Emrys' behavior.

"Could it be that he really is just sightseeing?"

Meanwhile, on the other side.

After two consecutive days of sightseeing, Zabriel, who was anxious and worried about the situation at the Rock, couldn't hold back anymore.

"Lord, I don't understand. You've been sightseeing for two days, from the upper hive to the Mid Hive, and tomorrow you're even going to the Underhive. What exactly do you intend to do?"

"It's a secret."

Emrys' light-hearted remark left Zabriel anxious but also helplessly resigned.

Who told him the other person was a 'Prince'?

"I know you're anxious, but don't be anxious yet," Emrys said calmly. "Tomorrow, when we go to the Underhive, pay more attention to your surroundings. You might just—get a surprise~"

"Can you be more direct?"

Zabriel's mouth twitched. If Emrys wasn't the First Watch Knight, the grandmaster of the Sons of the Forest, with his fiery temper,

He would have long ago punched that guy's head into his chest cavity!

Watching Zabriel's frustrated expression, Emrys couldn't help but smile.

"Some things can't be said explicitly~"

He finally understood why some people liked to be "Riddlers"; this feeling was indeed exhilarating.

In the end, Zabriel, suppressing a belly full of anger with nowhere to vent, could only sit silently beside him.

The next day.

Emrys, as usual, greeted the Astra Militarum officer, then, surrounded by them and Zabriel, left the mansion and boarded the grav-car.

"Today, I want to visit the Underhive."

Emrys stated his goal.

The Astra Militarum officer's expression was normal, finding nothing unusual, as Emrys had been very 'obedient' for the past two days, neither going to important facilities nor inquiring about secret information, just wandering around the hive city.

Soon, the vehicle entered the Underhive.

Unlike Lo'Chelle and other hive cities, the Underhive here was located on the outermost periphery of the hive city, gathered in tribal forms, providing various resources to the hive city in exchange for essential survival materials.

Although still very crude, compared to Lo'Chelle, Vigil, and others, the residents of the Underhive here could already be considered to be living in paradise, indicating that governor Hal's governance was good.

Emrys chose to walk, and the Astra Militarum accompanied him.

In the Underhive area, the Astra Militarum clearly relaxed their vigilance, as there were no important facilities here, and it was on the outermost periphery of the hive city. Even if Chaos launched a surprise attack, it would be impossible to breach the hive city's energy shield.

Zabriel, following Emrys' orders, constantly paid attention to his surroundings, secretly preparing for battle.

He thought a big battle would ensue today.

However, the result disappointed him. After visiting seven or eight Underhive tribes, there was nothing worth his attention.

"Lord, what exactly is the thing you told me to look out for?" Zabriel couldn't help but ask.

"Isn't it here?"

Emrys stopped, his brows tightly furrowed.

His gaze swept across every dilapidated house front in the Underhive, not even missing the huge pipes and the tracks laid overhead, yet he still found no trace whatsoever.

Just as he was wondering if he had truly come to the wrong place, suddenly, a peculiar mark on the front of an Underhive bar caught his attention.

Finally, he found it!

His memory was correct; after Lyon awakened his Warp essence, he encountered a 'Fallen Angel' Chapter on a world!

Emrys' lips curled into a slight smile, and he said to the Astra Militarum behind him.

"I'd like to go in for a drink. Would you all like to come?"

The Astra Militarum officer frowned, showing a hint of disdain for an Underhive bar—he decisively shook his head.

"No, lord.

We'll wait for you outside."

Anyway, there was no complicated terrain around this bar, so they probably couldn't escape. Thus, the Astra Militarum officer readily agreed.

As for why a noble lord would go to an Underhive bar, that was not their concern; perhaps he wanted to experience it?

"Wait, lord."

Just as Emrys was about to go in, Zabriel also noticed the very subtle mark carved next to the bar's main door, and his pupils suddenly constricted.

"This place—we can't go in!"

"Oh?"

Emrys' lips curved slightly, and he turned to look at Zabriel with a half-smile.

"Why can't we go in? Are you afraid of seeing your former comrades?"

"You…"

Zabriel flinched slightly.

This mark was a signal that only the Dark Angels Legion could recognize, and it was the emblem of a rebellious legion on Caliban back then!

He just hadn't expected that Emrys would also recognize this ancient emblem!

"Let's go, Zabriel."

Emrys didn't explain why he recognized the mark, striding towards the bar.

"It's been so long, don't you want to see these brothers you once fought alongside?"

No, not at all!

Zabriel's eyes twitched wildly. The Fallen Angels were a very complex group; some still adhered to their principles, but others had long since abandoned them!

Who knew what kind of Fallen Angels were here?
