Lucas came out wearing only a silk trousers and his hair dripping wet, his toned abs exposed to the sunlight.
"When will you start wearing shirts in doors?" Kaelvryn snickered at him.
"Nah, I'll pass," he hanged his shirt on the King's stand. "So what got you all worked that you didn't even hear me when I got in."
Kaelvryn held the bridge of his nose, "the red moon..."
"You can always stay indoor as you normal do," he bit through an apple then sat opposite him.
"That wouldn't be a problem but these council hags are pestering me to out in the open for the Lunaris feast."
Lucas paused placing the half bitten apple on the table, then his face twisted, that playful demeanor had turned cold.
"What do you mean?" His tone no longer had that playful vibe in this.
"Before you go behead anyone, the day they picked seems okay so for now, we just need to watch our back."
"Is it the week of the red moon?" He asked calmly.
"Maybe..." he sipped his wine.
"It's a yes or no question Kael," his voice sounded low and cruel.
"You already know the answer then why are you still asking?" Kaelvryn shrugged slightly.
"Are you insane?" He yelled loudly, his veins popping out.
"I wish I was this time but unfortunately I'm not," he replied calmly while he refilled his wine in his silver chalice.
"You can always refuse, but when did you start listening to these people, knowing you well, you don't give a bloody damn about these hags."
Kaelvryn let out a soft chuckle, "I think I need to fill you in about everything that has happened in the past year."
Lucas finally broke out a laughter that filled the room. "I'm not going on a walk with you if you're thinking about that."
Kaelvryn's lip drew up to a smirk, "I can't believe you know me so well," he let out a mocking laughter, "now pick up a shirt, let's tour."
Lucas threw his head back and groaned lightly, "tell me why I decided to return back today," he cursed under his breath.
"Don't be such a lazy ass," Kaelvryn tapped his back, "I'll be waiting outside."
"Fuck you..."
Kaelvryn chuckled softly and walked outside when he overheard some maids discussing.
"Oh my heavens, did you see Lord Lucas...he looks so irresistibly hot..."
"We have another man to crush on, but head guard Valen is so fine."
"Let's just say the truth, the two men are apparently so fine men and we can't even go close to them."
"Who can't...sooner or later, I'll make sure guard Valen becomes mine."
Kaelvryn hands folded at the last sentence, Valen could only be his, he cleared his throat and the maids froze at the spot.
"Your Majesty..." they fell at his feet.
"Is this the job you do while no one watches, gossiping at each corner of the room." Kaelvryn gritted his teeth.
"We deserve death for this," one cried loudly, and others followed, wailing loudly.
Kaelvryn held a dark gaze for a while and calmly let out a breath, "Leave here this instant."
They scrambled to their feet amd rushed to their designated spot, Lucas threw his arm over Kaelvryn.
"You this brooding king, can't you just have a small smile on his face, maybe by now we would have been conducting a royal wedding."
Kaelvryn punched him slightly, "speaking of royal wedding, Daphne's father was here proposing wedding for I and Daphne to make an allegiance that was prosper the two kingdoms."
Lucas burst out laughing, "he must be joking, wasn't it his kingdom that sent spies to get information the last time."
Kaelvryn smiled walking side by side with Lucas, "crazy right, the worst was when Daphne abducted and tried to murder my personal guard."
"I knew that being friends with benefits with her would cause all these stunts but wait..." he stopped in his stunts, "did you just say personal guard?"
Kaelvryn stared at him and then shook his head, "you heard me the first time."
"What in the actual fuck? You have never gotten a personal guard...what's the catch?" Lucas grabbed him by the arm and snickered.
"There's no catch, he's just good at his job, too good if you ask me." Kaelvryn said gently.
"Or..." Lucas smirked while raising a brow.
"Or what, you fucking pervert..."
"Come on...I don't judge and you know that, he caught your eyes, didn't he?"
"You bastard," he tried to punch Lucas but he weaved back immediately.
"I've always known that you ramming your dick into women doesn't mean..." he turned his neck to check if the coast was clear, "...that you're into them." He whispered quietly.
Kaelvryn shook his head and said nothing, "believe what you want to believe, I have no say in what goes on in that crazy head of yours."
"Yes...your Majesty," he faked a courtesy and Kaelvryn burst into a genuine laughter, for a second, he almost couldn't recognize himself at how hard he could actually laugh.
The two strolled to the gardens, soaking into the warmth of the sun, Lucas let out a breath of relief, "damn, I've missed this..."
Lucas was about to say something when he noticed someone sitting calmly close to the pond, "I thought you said no one had access here except you and I."
Kaelvryn nodded and the both headed straight to the bench, Lucas used his power to draw out a bow, one of his powers enabled him to create any weapon from his mind and it could kill anyone who stood in his way.
They walked slowly and as soon as Lucas was about to let the arrow loose, the person stood up and turned, it was Valen, she held a small puppy in her arms.
"Valen..." Kaelvryn said calmly, a tone of worry laced in his voice.
Lucas immediately withdrew his bow and it disappeared instantly, "Valen?"
"Your Majesty..." she coughed, her voice still vividly weak.
"Who is he?" Lucas whispered.
"Why are you outside, aren't you supposed to be resting?" Kaelvryn ignored Lucas who was utterly shocked at this, Kaelvryn has never ignored him in his entire life of existence.
"I needed some air, so I came out this feline ran into my arms, it was injured so I tended to it, I was about heading back in." Valen said calmly.
Kaelvryn hummed, "you may sit, you need all the energy you can get."
"Ehem..." Lucas cleared his throat harshly, then Valen and Kaelvryn both looked his way, "I know I'm not fucking invisible."
"Pardon my manners," Valen wanted to stand but Kaelvryn pulled him back down gently.
"You can sit and greet," Kaelvryn said while Lucas scoffed at him.
"Umm...I am Valen, the personal bodyguard of His Majesty," Valen introduced himself calmly.
"Oh...he's the guard, I should have known," Lucas teased. "I am Lucas, Kael's best friend since childhood, he listens to me most of the time."
Lucas stretched out his hand to shake Valen but Kaelvryn refused to let Valen shake him back, "don't be such a dick head," Lucas grabbed Valen's hand for a handshake with mischievous grin on his face.
"It's a pleasure meeting you," he rubbed her palm gently.
"The pleasure is all mine."
