Chapter 20 - Chapter 19

Kaelvryn made his way slowly to his chambers, when he met Lord Valor at the entrance, "to what do I owe this pleasant meeting."

Kaelvryn didn't bother giving him a glance, "the red moon is slowly approaching," Lord Valor spoke up calmly.

Kaelvryn froze in his steps, "I am aware," he finally turned towards him.

"I am not sure you are aware because of your unruly behavior you have been showcasing these days."

"Lord Valor mind your tone..." Kaelvryn growled.

"If you want me to mind my tome then start acting like a ki..." Lord Valor choked on his words.

Kaelvryn wore a small wicked on his face, them tilted his face sidewards, "what were you saying again?"

Lord Valor face almost turned pink because of his lack of air then finally he gasped for breath, Kaelvryn relaxed back.

Lord Valor gritted his teeth, his hands on his neck, "we are only trying to protect you..." his voice was choked, "but you keep doing..."

"Doing what?" Kaelvryn said calmly but his tone was fiery.

Lord Valor took in a calm breath, "your Majesty, I think it's better we take this inside."

Kaelvryn maintained a calm gaze with him before heading inside, Lord Valor cleared his throat while rubbing his neck.

Kaelvryn sat on his bed facing Lord Valor, who still had a pale look on his face.

"Continue...if I were you, I'd choose my words wisely," Kaelvryn said calmly.

Lord Valor raised the side of his lips to draw out a small smile but failed, "Your Majesty, as the red moon is approaching, we need you not to use your powers frequently."

Kaelvryn chuckled softly, "we both know I won't do that."

"It is for your safety..." Lord Valor's voice raised a bit but he brought it down the moment Kaelvryn shot him a nasty look, "...and for the safety of the people."

"The people haven't interacted with me in a very long time, why are you suddenly bringing them up?" Kaelvryn raised a brow.

"As per customs, we would be celebrating our reign as Lunaris with the people of our kingdom by throwing a feast."

"Close to the red moon...?" Kaelvryn sat up right now, he couldn't believe his ears.

"It won't be the night of the blood moon or the night after but..."

"So you want to celebrate the feast the night before the red moon," Kaelvryn cut him off immediately.

"Your Majesty..."

Kaelvryn raised his hand and stopped him then he tilted his head, "I genuinely want to believe it's because there's currently lack of air in your brain, that is why you are thinking so lowly."

"But..."

"But nothing, absolutely nothing, as long as the red moon is slowly approaching, even a glance of it can make me go mad, I would not be taking any chances."

Lord Valor folded his fists in anger and let out a sigh, "Your Majesty, if you would just listen to me..."

Kaelvryn folded his arms, with his two fingers, he signaled for Lord Valor to continue.

"We have meet with our astronomers and they have already picked a suitable date for the feast where there would be no harm," he brought a piece of paper and handed it over to him.

Kaelvryn collected it and opened it calmly, he stared at it for a while, "two days before the red moon appears."

"Yes your Majesty, the astronomers said that the red moon would not have any effect on you and with the help of the rightful healers, we would able to conduct the feast without any problems."

Kaelvryn looked at the paper in his hands then back at Lord Valor, something inside him knew they were planning something but he couldn't pinpoint what.

Finally he let out a defeated sigh, "but I have my own condition."

"Go on, your Majesty," Lord Valor bowed gently.

"I would be out for only three hours and once it is up, I return back to the chambers, that gives the people enough time to see and interact with me, nothing more and nothing less."

"Alright your Majesty, if that would be all, I need to take my leave to start preparing for the feast."

Lord Valor bowed slightly, made a turn and was about to head out.

"But..." Lord Valor stopped in his tracks and slightly turned to Kaelvryn.

"If anything goes wrong even in the most slightest way, your head would be served on a platter to the beasts."

There was a sudden wave of chill that ran through Lord Valor's spine, he simply nodded and went out from the chambers.

"Guards..."

He was about to tell them to get Valen but stopped immediately.

"Your Majesty, what do you need us to do?" One of the echoed from the outside.

Kaelvryn needed a proper spy but couldn't trust anyone in the palace apart from Valen and one more person who hasn't been back from his travels and now that she was bed ridden, he dared not involve anyone else.

"It's nothing continue with your work," he said out softly.

Kaelvryn stood from his bed and went straight to his balcony to take a breath of fresh air to cool his head.

There was a lot on his plate and he couldn't share it with anyone, his mind traveled to his most trusted companion...Lucas.

"That bastard prefers travels than to be here when I need him the most and he has the nerves to say I don't care for him."

Kaelvryn mumbled under his breath then turned only for him to meet someone on his bed with a silly smirk on his face.

"What can make the almighty King Kaelvryn mumble so hard that his forehead squeezed to resemble an old hag?"

Kaelvryn chuckled softly, he directed his two fingers to a jar on his table and it moved straight to his head but he caught it in seconds and tilted his head to Kaelvryn.

"I thought you that trick when we were young, do you really think it can work for me?" The young man chuckled.

"Lucas..." he finally breathed out.

He dropped the jar and went straight to Kaelvryn, opening his arm wide, "give me a hug..."

Kaelvryn moved away from his hug but was pulled back immediately and Lucas snuggled him into a bear hug. Kaelvryn tried to escape from his grip but couldn't.

"Can't you just be emotional that your best friend have returned after a whole year, have some emotions...you bastard."

Kaelvryn used the tip of his finger to push Lucas away and he stumbled a bit, "at least get some suitable cloths to wear, not this human stench."

"Hey..." Lucas faked a hurtful gasp, "my human friends would not be happy that you said, this is what we call a trend in the human world."

"Do I look like I give two fucks about what these puny creatures think?" Kaelvryn rolled his eyes at him.

"Tsk..." he made a sound between his teeth, "you're still as grumpy as ever."

"And you're still as chaotic as ever, get yourself a bath at least twice, you need it, I smell human all over you and then we discuss about serious matters."

Lucas groaned deeply, "I just came back, you motherfucker, cut me some sl-"

Kaelvryn threw a cloth at him, "go...now."

Lucas raised the middle finger amd proceeded to leave while Kaelvryn finally raised his lips up to a smile, "he is back...finally."
