Chapter 1 - Following Star, Star

The sky had gone pink; the world was made with soft clouds that were bouncy. The neon sky shined over a bed, seeming like a child sleeping on it.

The child seemed to be in a deep slumber, sleeping in peace in his own isolation, in his own little dreamscape. The child awoke in this world and didn't speak; he simply had these blue earphones connected to his ears, playing a song on his phone.

As the child scrolled through his playlist, nothing but one artist was on that playlist. The artist's name was "Glacial." This artist was incredibly famous and was extremely loved by many, including this child... The child would play the same song over and over and over and over again from the same artist; he would play one of her songs.

This song was called "waitingforyou." It was the child's favorite song to play from her. It was one of her hit singles.

As he left his bed, he could feel the soft clouds on his skin. The sky was a bright pink; the child would bounce up and down over and over again, enjoying his time in this place.

To him, this was an escape—a place where no one could bother him, where he didn't need to deal with real-life issues regarding school, his parents, his friends... even himself...

Yes, this world was an escape; the child had a name for it: a Dreamscape.

As he walked through the soft clouds, a ball would appear; then a basketball would show up. The child would pick up this ball and constantly shoot the ball into the hoop.

For a couple of hours, the noise of a ball hitting the rim would be the only thing this child heard. He would shoot the ball from various distances; sometimes it would miss, sometimes it would hit. Sometimes he would even use the bouncy clouds to dunk on the tall net.

For this child, it was one of his favorite things to do, even in self-isolation.

After a couple of hours of hitting this ball, he would change the song to a song from one of her recent albums called "eternity." This song was called "myheartbeatsforyouforever."

This song brought the child incredible joy; it made him feel happier than he already was. The pink world would be even brighter. A couple of rainbows would appear, even thousands of stars in the sky.

The world had gotten more joyous, more beautiful. The child's heart would beat faster; a smile would appear on the boy, having a happy expression. The child would start slowly walking to his bed, enjoying the wonderful clouds and the mystic air in this world.

Yes, this world was his personal escape. The child would walk but notice something on the ground.

In this neon pink world with rainbows and stars and big, puffy, bouncy clouds, there existed a tiny black area—more specifically, an area where the clouds were black. As the boy reached this area, he looked down to see the clouds make an odd shape.

It was three faces that were in the shape of a mask; three of these faces had an upset look on them. One of these faces was facing upwards and the other two were facing downwards, all with the same face.

Upset...

The boy looked at it intensely, but suddenly the clouds would go back to normal. He paid no mind to it. He would finally walk back over to his bed. He would lay in his comfy bed in his little world, inside this self-isolating space far away from everything and everyone—far away from reality's cruelty.

He would be on his bed and, all of a sudden, he heard noises coming from his pocket. Ring, ring, ring. The boy would pull the phone out of his pocket. A phone call was coming.

"Ah, yes," is what the boy had thought. The phone call was from a friend—maybe someone more. Then a familiar voice appeared—a voice he had known all too well, a voice that brought him more happiness than anything.

?: Hello. : Hello. ?: How have you been? I missed you. : I missed you too. ?: Hey. : Hmh? ?: Altair, I love you. Altair: I love you too... Glacial.

DING DING DING DING DING DING!

A loud alarm clock was buzzing in the morning. Suddenly, his eyes would open up to the bright light. Ah, yes, it was September. Altair would look at the calendar. The date said September 15, 2050.

It was two weeks since Altair had transferred to his new school. He would stop the beeping noise from his alarm clock and stare up at his sunroof.

"Altair, come down, it's almost time for school!" a voice would shout from downstairs. It was his dad. His dad was someone he always looked up to as one of the coolest people ever, and no one could ever convince him otherwise.

Altair: "Ahhh, shit."

The weekend had ended and the next school week had begun. He would put his blue EarPods out of his ears and into his charging case. Right now, he was wearing a blue shirt and some black pants. He would quickly change into his school uniform and run down.

Altair would quickly grab his breakfast and start running for the front door. It was a bacon sandwich.

Altair: "Okay, Dad, I love you. Bye!" His dad responded, "Okay, I love you too. Stay safe!"

He quickly put his shoes on and his EarPods back on. He would play a song called "racingforlove" by the artist he truly loves. He would grab his hoverboard and start gliding his way to school while humming the song. On the way, he threw out the plastic around the sandwich and put his hoverboard in a locker and put his passcode in; nowadays, everyone had one.

Altair would start walking to class and see a bunch of other students. As he was mindlessly minding his own business in his own little world, he noticed a girl walking with her friends. Oh yes, he remembered her name was Luna.

She was extremely popular here; she was joyful, fun, extremely talkative, and everyone liked her. For him, it reminded him of someone. She had blonde hair that was wrapped into a ponytail; she was about 5'10", had a white button-up shirt with a light blue tie, and had bright crystal blue eyes. She had black pants and white shoes.

Altair would turn his head around and close his eyes, mindlessly walking to his first class, but suddenly he would hear a voice really close to his ear.

??: "Hii, Alt."

"Ahhhhh!"

He would open his eyes and fall down in shock. All of a sudden, the blonde-haired girl was really close to him. Too close to him. He could see her large chest and blue eyes staring at him really closely, and could see her lip gloss sparking.

The girl was Luna. Everyone walking would suddenly turn to see what was happening.

Luna: "Hi, Altair. Could I have your phone number?" Altair: "What????"

Altair might have not realized it there, but his life would change forever from here on out...
