Chapter 102 Captain America
Hearing silence on the other end of the phone, Finney Hellseg realized he'd spoken too quickly, undoubtedly making Nick Fury wonder how he knew.
However, this reaction essentially proved that Captain America had indeed been discovered.
His quick guess stemmed from his recent thoughts on how to handle the Hulk; Captain America was the first person he considered.
Meanwhile, Nick Fury carefully reviewed the conversation and noticed something amiss.
Finney had clearly asked that question with surprise after hearing his words, as if he knew Fury would find Captain America. If it were a leak, the question shouldn't have been phrased that way.
Nick Fury could only temporarily attribute this to another mysterious ability of Finney's, which further elevated his opinion of Finney and confirmed that Finney hadn't revealed his true abilities to him beforehand.
"Yes, it's Captain America. He's frozen in ice, but the investigators found he still has vital signs. I hope you can bring him back for treatment as soon as possible!"
Nick Fury put Finney's abilities aside for now; after all, they were still allies, and the most urgent thing was to bring Captain America back for treatment.
"No problem."
Finney was willing to help with this small matter and immediately asked, "Give me the specific coordinates. Do you need to come with me?"
"If it's convenient!"
Nick Fury wanted to see Finney's abilities and didn't want to miss any opportunity, so he agreed.
After agreeing on a meeting place, Finney quickly packed his things, told Skye, equipped 'Possessed', and found Nick Fury.
However, there was another person with him, a familiar face—Coulson, whom he hadn't seen in a long time. His forehead had become increasingly shiny, clearly showing signs of developing into a powerful figure.
"Mind if I bring someone else along?"
Upon seeing Finney appear, Nick Fury asked,
"I'm so sorry, Mr. Silver Knight, but if it's convenient, could you please take me with you?"
Coulson, standing beside him, looked at Finney expectantly. He was even more excited than Nick Fury when he learned Captain America was still alive; he had originally intended to apply to handle the matter.
After learning of Fury's arrangements, he had gone to great lengths to persuade Fury to agree to bring him along, and then asked if Finney could come along.
"No problem, come along!"
Finney remembered that Coulson seemed to be a huge Captain America fan, and he had a good impression of Coulson, so he didn't mind him coming along. The door was open anyway, a few more people wouldn't hurt.
Coulson smiled happily, his eyes filled with anticipation. He had never imagined he would have the chance to see his idol in person.
Following the coordinates provided by Nick Fury, Finney, with the enhancement of the Golden Grand Evolution Technique, quickly opened a portal to a location somewhere in the Arctic Ocean.
This place had already been converted into a small temporary base.
The three arrived at the base, and Finney finally found Captain America, frozen solid in ice. It was a mystery how S.H.I.E.L.D. had discovered he was still alive.
"Is this really him?"
Coulson asked Fury, peering at the sleeping Captain America from the ice. Even as an agent, and having recently encountered a god, he found this hard to believe.
"If there isn't another Captain America, it's definitely him!"
Nick Fury replied. This was also his first time seeing Captain America in person. His subordinates had reported everything to him upon discovering the location, so he was certain it was the historical figure, which was why he had called Finney for help.
Finney was also observing Captain America. It had to be said, under the influence of the Super Soldier Serum, Captain America was indeed very handsome—a sharply defined face, a beautifully sculpted physique. Although this angle didn't show his signature shapely buttocks, one could imagine they wouldn't be bad.
Steve Rogers was already a very kind and upright person, and after being modified by the serum, this kindness and justice were amplified infinitely, which is why he became the Captain America that everyone trusted.
Such a person might feel threatened by Hulk, but wouldn't harbor prejudice. Therefore, in Finney's mind, if he wanted to find a caregiver for Hulk, Captain America would undoubtedly be the most suitable.
Looking at Captain America, Finney couldn't help but think of Tony. There might not be any deep-seated animosity between them, but one person could influence their relationship:
Bucky Barnes, one of Hydra's top fighters.
Captain America's childhood friend, brother, comrade-in-arms—truly the most important person in his life.
He was also the one who, after being modified and hypnotized by Hydra, personally killed Tony's parents.
Finney knew that Tony loved his parents deeply, especially after experiencing the new elements, this feeling had amplified, but it also made him feel increasingly indebted.
If he knew his parents were murdered, even knowing the killer didn't intend to, he probably wouldn't readily forgive them.
Although the current Tony is full of justice and hope, he is not inherently a magnanimous person, or rather, he is still impulsive.
He has experienced some things, but there are many more yet to come; those ingrained traits are not easily changed.
Finney was certain that if he knew about this, no matter how big the commotion, he would choose revenge.
Faced with this problem, Finney didn't want to interfere or participate. In his view, neither side was wrong; Tony's revenge was justified, and Bucky didn't want to be controlled, nor could he resist.
The only fault lay with Hydra, and the only solution was to bring Tony's parents back to life.
Finney clearly couldn't do the latter, so he didn't want to get involved.
He'd leave the future to the future. Pulling his thoughts back, Finney looked at Nick Fury and asked, "Where do you want to send him?"
Nick Fury gave an address. Since the Ivan incident, he had investigated the department but found nothing; that incident seemed like an accident.
But this situation only made Nick Fury more suspicious. The more normal something seemed, the more abnormal it was. However, he couldn't find any clues about the other party and could only remain cautious.
This incident was the same; he no longer trusted the department as much, which was why he hoped Finney could help, giving him another trump card for Captain America in the future.
Finney opened the portal again, then lifted Captain America's ice block with both hands and stepped through it. Coulson watched anxiously, seemingly afraid Finney might accidentally drop the ice block.
Arriving at Nick Fury's secret base, Finney considered his assistance complete, finding it incredibly easy.
After watching Coulson and a group of medical personnel carefully carry the ice block away, Finney looked at Nick Fury and reminded him, "Remember, you have two more chances left."
Nick Fury nodded, offering no objection.
"Do you think he'll survive?"
Nick suddenly asked, his tone as tense and anxious as a family member waiting for surgery, seeking reassurance from those around them.
"Of course!"
However, Finney knew Nick Fury wasn't that kind of person; he simply didn't want to have paid such a high price only to gain nothing.
"He'll wake up, and he'll even bet you he'll adapt to this world quickly!"
Finney looked in the direction the group had left in. Captain America's appearance meant that if he didn't intervene, Loki opening the portal was getting closer and closer.
