— Scar? -someone called. — Scarlett! - She hit me, and I fell off the bed.
— No one would die if you just called one more time,- I said as I got up from the floor and sat back down on the bed.
— I called four times! And I'd really like to know what's causing your distraction lately."
Well, one of Acasha's biggest problems is that she can't do without knowing everything that's going on around her, and in the minds of the people around her.
— The right question would be, 'Who's causing my distraction?- I murmured.
— What?
— What were you talking about? You don't know who to go with?"
— If you paid attention, you'd have a clue. I don't think I have enough time to do that, and so far I don't have anyone to go with. Are we really obligated to show up with a date?
— What about your boyfriend?-I asked, not really interested.
— Ian isn't my boyfriend, not in the same way Brandon isn't your boyfriend. - she finished with a mischievous smile.
— The difference between Brandon and me and you and Ian is that Brandon and I know we're not dating. In your case, fortunately or unfortunately, no one knows, since that "no one" spreads the word throughout the university that you two are dating."
— Really? I already asked him to stop doing that.- She collapsed on the bed next to me.
—Being one of the most popular girls here isn't that wonderful, is it? - I said, smiling.
—And you?
— And me?"
— You're going with Brandon, aren't you?"
—I don't even know if I'm going. He didn't ask anything, and neither did I, and in fact, I'm thinking about someone else if I were."
—Someone else? Who?
Thank God we were interrupted by the bell signaling the start of classes, and Ian walked into the room without even knocking.
—Thank you, I can't imagine if I were naked here, - I said as I got out of bed.
— If you were naked, I'm pretty sure you'd be much more comfortable than me.- he said as he passed me, and I patted his shoulder slowly.
It wasn't a lie.
Ian's a good guy, but Acasha is a bit confusing and complicated. What woman wouldn't give the world for a man who loves her, says he loves her, shows he loves her, and still wants everyone to understand he loves her?
I definitely wouldn't give the world; I don't think I would give anything at all. But I know Acasha would, maybe she already has.
— Good morning, my love. - he said as he lay on the bed on top of Acasha.
— Good morning, my love again? - she replied.
— You have to find at least one other name I can call you, especially when we're making love. What am I going to say when I'm coming? - he said as he kissed Acasha shamelessly.
— God, you two are so disgusting.
— The devil talking about sinners?- Acasha asked, rolling her eyes under Ian's.
— Devil, my love? I'm an Angel, too holy to be true. - I turned on my phone and saw four missed calls from Brandon. — Oh, have you seen Brandon around, Ian?
—I was already heading toward the classrooms when I passed him, and he asked me to let you know he was looking for you. - He glanced at me and went back to what he was doing.
— Oh, then I'm leaving.- I walked toward the couch and grabbed my bag and a pillow, throwing them at Ian's head. — For God's sake, don't get my friend pregnant, I'll kill you with my bare hands.- He laughed and tried to throw it back, but I had already left the room when the pillow hit the door. —Don't miss class, kids! - I yelled as I closed the door. I walked toward the classroom. I wouldn't have classes with Brandon today, so we wouldn't see each other until the end of the day.
When I arrived, the teacher was already in the classroom, but I entered without receiving any lectures.
Perks of being a good student.
Class was normal, and honestly, I was a little distracted. I only came back to pay attention when I heard my name, and a name that hadn't left my mind lately.
— Scarlett Rose and Theo Delahaye.
— Present.- I replied, and then Theo, who was standing in the doorway, answered.
—So late, Theo?- Mrs. Ingrid Meirelles, the after-school activities coordinator, asked.
I didn't even notice when she walked in.
—I...ah...woke up very late," he said with his head down.
— Well, at least you arrived at the right time. I've just been informed that we need two students to help us prepare for the "Modern Ball" to raise perishable goods for the orphanages, which I don't even need to mention because you already know them."
I nodded.
—And who better than the two best students at the university to fill this position?
Two best students? The two best students here are..."
—Yes, Miss Scarlett and Mr. Theo, you two should go to the ball organizers after class. You'll find me there for any further clarification.- She looked at my professor. —Thank you very much for your time, Professor, that was all.- And when she left, the bell rang.
I left the room, leaving a completely edible Theo explaining his tardiness to the professor.
I didn't even know why he was late. Like me, he lived here in the university dorms. The difference is that his dorm is on the opposite side of mine. That means I'd have to take a long detour to get to the left side of the university. Even if I didn't want to ambush someone in the middle of the night, I'd have to have a lot of willpower to make it around the university.
But it's not such a bad idea.
I was heading towards the updated calendar to find out what class I had next when I was suddenly pulled into a dark room and my killer sense activated.
I kicked my attacker in the legs, and he fell. I jumped on top of him and pressed my elbow into his neck when the light came on.
After all, there was more than one person there besides me.
— Shit! I told you I didn't want to be a guinea pig for this. - Will said from beneath me.
— When did you get so aggressive? - Jahyr asked as he helped me up.
— What's your problem? I could have killed him.- I pointed dramatically at Will writhing on the floor.
—And how would we talk to you?- Jahyr asked as I helped Will up.
—I don't know. Maybe if you guys, like normal people, came up and said, 'Scar, we have to talk!.- I said sarcastically.
—I really never believed you took self-defense classes. Right now I owe Jahyr two hundred bucks."
I snorted as I opened the classroom door and walked into the hallway.
—And what's this important talk? I have a class now.
—Oh, Duncan's having an after-school party at his uncle's house. Brandon still can't get a hold of you. He said he'd call, but you didn't answer. He just asked us to let you know.
—And you guys couldn't have done it like normal people?
Well... I still had ten minutes until I had to check the calendar and find the classroom."
They simply shrugged.
— Okay, I'll talk to Brandon later, I have classes now.- I said and turned around.
— Goodbye, babe.- they said in unison.
— Five minutes late, Miss Rose, it seems.- The teacher said when I arrived, out of breath from running across campus to get there.
— If the classroom were close, I wouldn't have needed to be late, teacher."
—You guys have a fifteen-minute break, that's enough time for you...- She stopped and looked behind me. —Wonderful, the two best students took the day off to be late."
I looked behind me and saw a similarly out-of-breath Delahaye.
—I...um...sorry, I had to run to get here,- he said as if it wasn't obvious.
—Well...it was for nothing, you're not getting in.- She said and closed the door in our faces.
—Unnecessary bitch.- I snorted.
—That... doesn't make things any better.- I heard the demon that's been distracting me lately speak.
—Delahaye, it's been a while.- I turned gracefully to him, even losing my breathless tone.
—Y...yes, it seems... We're together in a lot of classes this semester.- He said timidly.
Was that boy afraid of me? He couldn't possibly be that shy.
—Courses and stuff.- I said slyly.
—What? - He blushed.
—Apparently, we're organizing the "Modern Ball." I think you were in the room when they announced it."
— Yes... Yes, I was.
—We can go there now, this class doesn't end in an hour,- I said, not even waiting for an answer.
—Sure...
The coordinator's office was downstairs, so it would be quite a walk to get there.
Theo was beside me, and I was blatantly staring at him, which made him blush. I was so immersed in his body when I bumped into someone that he grabbed me by the waist and kissed me.
Brandon.
—That's an indecent assault, Brandon,- I said without much emotion when I let go of him. Theo had stopped too, and of course, he was blushing.
—Is this something that bothers you?- he asked, trying to kiss me again.
—When I have viewers, yes.
And he looked at Theo, who pretended not to be paying attention to us.
—Hey.- He extended his hand in greeting. — Delahayar, right?
— Delahaye.- He returned the greeting.
—Your name is really weird... no, maybe weird isn't the word...- He looked thoughtful. —Unique, I have to sit down one day to hear his story. - Brandon said, all smiles.
Mister Simpaty.
— It's not that incredible a story,- he said and adjusted his glasses.
There was no sexier move than that.
Brandon nodded and looked at me
—You're not running away from me, right?-he asked as he pulled me further away from Theo and nibbled on my ear, and I closed my eyes.
When I opened them, Theo was looking at me. I winked at him, and he quickly turned away and walked back toward the coordinator.
Enough.
I let go of Brandon and was about to walk with Theo when he grabbed me again and kissed me.
— Don't you have classes now, Brandon?- I asked as I pulled away from him.
—It's not that important, not today, not with you in a deserted hallway with no one to hear you moaning but me.
—Yeah, but I have things to do. Can we see each other later?- I asked, distressed. Theo must have arrived at the coordinator's office by now.
—I won't have time afterward. Duncan needs me to prepare for the party.-He huffed dejectedly.
—We'll see each other there then. Don't worry, I'll be there early to be with you.- I kissed him, and he left skeptical.
He knew I wouldn't show up.

—You two won't be working alone - Mrs. Meirelles said. —I won't be able to stay here this week or next. I have... other things to do right now.
— So the after-school activities coordinator won't be there to host an after-school activity?"
—Yes, Miss Rose, I can't leave two useless people here; this activity is important."
— You won't leave two useless people here, but you will leave two idiots who can't even choose whether to accept or not.
—I saw your advanced math tests; you got a 96 and he got a 95. I'm talking to everyone but idiots. Now about choosing, you really don't have a choice."
—But what if we don't have time? - Theo asked.
— I've already arranged everything. You have the afternoon and evening shifts. If you don't have time in the afternoon, you'll be in charge of everything. You'll be the hosts, you know? You'll have the help of the student union, as well as any student you want to bring in. The name is simple, "Modern Dance," but that's just the name; you're in charge of thinking of everything."
— So, you practically did nothing? Not even thinking about the standard attire?"
— I didn't have time,- she said simply.
— Of course you didn't- I said, narrowing my eyes sarcastically.
—I think that's all. The rest is already prepared in the hall. I really have to go pack my bags."
When we left, I saw that Theo was deep in thought. This floor, and specifically this corridor, had no other rooms; it was like that forgotten room that shouldn't even exist in a university.
— Why is it only now that I realized you're a Greek god, Theodore?"
He gasped... And it was a wonderful excuse for me to lean against him.
— Please don't die... yet, there's so much of you I haven't been able to have yet,-I said as I patted his back.
Body firm.
— Are you drunk, Scarlett? - he asked timidly.
I pushed him against the wall and got very close to his face; I could feel his breath.
— Oh, I don't have the luxury of getting drunk around you. There are certain things i need to be very serious to do..." I said while our face pressed together, inches from our lips touching. "So i can remenber." I winked at him and walked away, leaving Delahaye frozen against the wall.
Will it always be this easy?
