Chapter 3 - Episode 3: New blooms

Hours passed

And Elvin, still in his trench coat with the now-dry hem, had hauled the vampire onto the nearest sofa. He tucked a throw blanket around him. The tear-marked face looked as if he was done for the day. The hungry growls had simmered down, exhaustion dripping from his eyes like sweat. Finally, he was knocked out on the couch, listening to the ticking of the wall clock—an aged one, ticking as if an old elf man were clicking his tongue. His eyebrows knitted, and tears formed once again while he slept, probably dreaming of the harsh rebuke.

A soft warm light filtered through the soft linen curtains, creating a halo on his golden blonde hair, that laid lazily across the throw cushions. The morning alarm pinged by the dreaming elf, snoozing automatically, to buzz again after 10 minutes…

Elvin: *Blinks**Eyes squinting to adjust to the direct ray of bright sunlight falling right on his face* Hungry…*stomach growls*..ugh.. *quietly rolls off the couch* THUD. … *Yawns*...that didn't hurt… Good thing I kept the rug.. *giggles to himself* Aged wine tastes better… *stretches*

Pancakes?.. Pancakes.. hehe.. with extra syrup.. *stands up holding the tea table for support, eyes slowly dilating in the dark room*

Gradually tiptoes towards the sofa on the left, posture slightly tensed from remembering last night's incident . "I hope he's sleeping..." .. Slowly..VERY slowly, peels off a certain corner of the blanket revealing.. cushions? "Eh?"

.

.

"Careful.. You don't disturb a night creature first thing in the morning"* A deep, accentual voice rumbled from behind him, almost whispering into his pale ears* "WHAT THE-" slaps both his hands on his mouth before he could swear out loud, jumping onto the sofa instinctually as if he got electrocuted.

Elvin: *staring at him with wide eyes, a green horizon of shock and fear, freezing in his current position*...

"Listen. I woke up long before you. And I chose not to bite you. So in case you're thinking I should've sucked you dry, I didn't because I don't feed on elves." The vampire stated in a matter-of-fact tone, trying to comfort the spooked elf in his own century old way.

Elvin: *blinks for what feels like after a whole decade**Hands still clamped over his mouth*.. Eep *squeaks out, failed attempt at speaking #1*

"Why are you squeaking?"

Elvin: *face turns an unknown shade of red. Embarrassment or Anger, nobody knows* .. Mean.

"I'm trying to comfort you brat."

Elvin: .. *slowly unclamps his mouth*.. *still pressed tightly against the sofa*.. It's..not working.. I guess..

*Sighs*..." Damien. Atleast we should know eachother's names before melting onto a couch.. with questionable voicing choices.."

Elvin: ...Do you hit people?

Damien: ...With my words.

Elvin: So you don't?

Damien: Depends on how long it'd take you to unfreeze.

Elvin: I was just scared.

Damien: Fair.. Heard you mumbling about pancakes. I could have some *crouches down to be at eye level* if you're offering...

Elvin: *a pink flush rises from his neck, straight to his cheeks, blood rushing to all over his face* I.. You're good with pancakes?

Damien: Of course. Why would you think I am not.

Elvin: N-not like that, you.. It's.. *sighs*.. I'm just really nervous.. I know you won't bite me.. Trevor told me last night.. but still, no-one would blame you if you do. I'm risking-

Damien: *yawns*.. You're risking yourself by spiralling, right now. I'm really hungry and would rather eat something.

Elvin: You're really rude you know.

Damien: Oh. Did I hit a nerve already? *For the first time all morning, a full blown smirk replaced his default blank expression*

Elvin: *glaring at him but his doe eyes dimming the effect of a normal glare, to a level that looks rather endearing than threatening*

Damien: *huffs, restrained in a way that looks trained more than instinctual* Your glare is not doing what it should be doing.

Elvin: *squints his eyes*... Whatever. *Slowly gets off the couch* You know how to comfort people without actually comforting them? Real unique for a blood sucker.

Damien: You feel comforted because I never intended to harm you in the first place.

After a few minutes:

The kitchen is filled with the aroma of freshly flipped pancakes, some already plated and glazed, others? On their way to be glazed.

Damien looks out of the kitchen window brooding silently, rethinking his life's choices.. again. Vampire thing that no one questions now.

Elvin: I have heard vampires are thousands of years old. How old are you then?

Damien: Thousands of years old.

Elvin: Stop beating around the bushes.

Damien: Stop handing me sticks to beat around.

Elvin: *groans* ... You lost count, didn't you?*presses his lips together. Tight. No slips allowed*

Damien: *ears slightly reddish*.. Not your concern. Concentrate on the pancakes.

Elvin: *Snickers* I'm just teasing you, come on!

Damien: You're not scared anymore?

Elvin: You'd rather have me scared and clinging to the couch? I can do that *his voice calmer and tilting towards his teasing tone*

Damien: .. You talk too much.

Elvin: Yep, I sure do~ But here! Your pancakes are all ready, and steaming~
