Chapter 1 - Chapter 1

So let me tell you about the best thing that ever happened to me.

I died.

Weird, right? I didn't even make it to high school graduation. And just to make it better, I was taken out by a thunderbolt. No dramatic final stand, no last words—just zap while I was asleep. I remember waking up groggy with a splitting headache, and then… realizing I was dead.

Honestly, I'm not sure whether to be grateful it wasn't a truck. Considering my personality, dying in a way that completely ignores the standard reincarnation clichés feels oddly appropriate.

When I finally shuffled off this mortal coil, I didn't wake up in darkness or flames. Instead, I found myself walking alone through endless green fields, sunlight warm against my skin. No heavenly choir. No wise old spirit guide—definitely no Russell Crowe.

Disappointing.

I shrugged and kept walking, wondering if this was the afterlife. It was peaceful, sure, but also painfully boring.

Maybe purgatory?

"Nope. Not purgatory," a voice said. "More like the universe's waiting room."

I spun around, half-expecting to die again.

Instead, I froze.

Standing behind me were three breathtakingly beautiful women, all with curly brown hair, flawless white dresses, and smiles that screamed we know something you don't. The kind of smiles poker champions wear when they're holding a royal flush.

"Uh… hello?"

In my defense, eloquence doesn't come easily after death. Apparently, they agreed, because all three burst into laughter like I'd just told a joke.

"Welcome, young man," one of them said cheerfully. "To the beginning of your new life!"

"…Reincarnation?" I asked.

"Oh! He got it on the first try!" another clapped her hands. "That's better than most."

"Well," I said slowly, "I'm still not convinced this isn't a hallucination caused by hunger and sleep deprivation."

They laughed again.

"Don't worry," the first woman said. "We're very real. Now—business. Since you died completely at random, your soul was… up for grabs. And we got to you first."

"…Yay?"

"Relax. Just be glad you didn't end up with Ares or some other idiot deity. They like dumping people into Warhammer 40K. Gross."

I was too stunned to fully process that, but the part of my brain that was functioning latched onto something important.

"So… it's not reincarnation exactly? More like… being sent to another world? And you're not throwing me into something horrifying, right?"

More laughter.

"Don't worry!" the lead goddess said brightly. "I'm Laima, and these are my sisters—Krta and Dkla. We've decided to send you to the wonderful world of High School DxD!"

I almost sighed in relief.

At least it wasn't Attack on Titan or some nightmare universe where death was a daily hobby. DxD was dangerous, sure, but it leaned more toward supernatural chaos and light romance. If you weren't an idiot, survival was very doable.

Then they dropped the bomb.

"Now, a technical detail," Laima said. "Fictional worlds like DxD, Harry Potter, or Warhammer are static. The story won't change unless something external interferes."

Their smiles sharpened.

"Like someone reincarnated from another world."

"Here's the deal," Krta said. "We send you to DxD with a generous package of gifts and abilities. In return, you shake things up. Break the status quo. Give us something new to watch."

I didn't even hesitate.

Even if this was a dream, I had zero interest in waking up.

DxD—a world of power, chaos, and beautiful insanity—where someone with mild social maladjustment could actually thrive?

Sign me up.

"So," I said, "what kind of gifts are we talking about?"

"Oh, basics first," Dkla replied. "A hidden mansion, teleportation circles, loyal maids, a fully equipped training room—"

"A training room?" I repeated.

"Yes, a training room."

…If this was a dream, I never wanted to wake up.

"And now," Laima said, "your wishes."

I thought carefully before speaking.

"First, I want a system—something that lets me evolve and acquire a wide range of abilities."

"Ohoho~ A popular choice," she nodded. "And second?"

"I want the bloodline and powers of the King of Heroes—Gilgamesh."

All three goddesses paused, then smiled wider.

"Ambitious," Krta said. "With that alone, you'd rank among the strongest."

"I just really like the character," I said, scratching my head.

"So honest~!" Dkla laughed. "And your final gift?"

"I want a Longinus Sacred Gear."

"I see," Laima said thoughtfully. "Then we'll choose one for you."

I nodded. They were already giving me more than I deserved.

"Excellent. You'll arrive a few years early—plenty of time to master your powers and adjust. And perhaps… handle a few other matters."

I smiled crookedly. "If this is real, then thank you, Miss Goddesses. I think this new life is going to be fun."

Their final laughter echoed strangely—playful, amused… and more than a little perverted.

"Oh, one last thing," Laima added. "We made a few… adjustments. Things we think you'll enjoy. Have fun~!"

Before I could ask what she meant, the world dissolved—

And my new life began.
