Mortimer Quincy returned with three cups of milk tea. He handed one each to Iris Kensington and Anna Willow first, then stuck a straw in the last one and gave it to Winnie Winslow.
Seeing her flushed cheeks, he glanced at the scorching sun. "I'll go buy an umbrella." As he spoke, he pulled her a little more into the shade of a nearby tree.
He looked at Anna Willow and Iris Kensington. "Do you two have umbrellas?"
Iris Kensington and Anna Willow nodded like chicks pecking at grain. "Yes."
The boy's figure was backlit, tall and handsome. Anna Willow turned to look at Winnie Winslow and said with great solemnity, "Holly, keep a close eye on him. Don't let your handsome cousin get away."
"Yes, yes, Holly! Use all your charms and mesmerize your handsome cousin." Iris Kensington gave Winnie Winslow a suggestive look, waggling her eyebrows.
