The voice that answered belonged to Ian Quincy. "I just dropped it off."
Cecilia Adler opened the door. He was standing right outside.
A smile immediately lit up her face. She stepped aside, letting him into the bedroom. "When did you get here?"
"Six o'clock," Ian said. "I can't sleep soundly when you're not with me, so I woke up before dawn."
Cecilia Adler raised an eyebrow. 'Is he telling the truth?' "So you're saying that for the entire week you were away on business, you didn't sleep soundly for a single night? If you were sleeping so poorly, how are you in such good spirits?" she teased. 'He's certainly learned how to sweet-talk people.'
"Business trips are different."
Cecilia smiled. 'He's full of excuses.' "Did you see the gift I got for you?"
"I saw it. It's very nice," Ian Quincy complimented, though he didn't mean it.
She had given him a necktie.
