"I'll love my little brother or sister just as much as I love you, Mom."
"Good girl. I knew you'd be a wonderful older sister."
The little girl beamed at the praise. "Mhm, I'll give her my favorite dress."
Cecilia Adler said, "You don't have to do that. The things you love, you must hold onto them tightly. You don't have to give them up, not even for your own brother or sister. Do you know why?"
The child shook her head, looking puzzled.
Cecilia Adler continued, "If you give away something you love, that's called doing yourself a disservice. You must never, ever do things that make you feel wronged."
"What if my little sister wants it?"
"Even if she wants it, you don't give it to her. You shouldn't give in to her just because she's your little sister," Cecilia Adler said.
"I'll remember that." The little girl touched Cecilia Adler's belly. "How will the baby sister get out?"
Cecilia Adler: "..." 'How was she supposed to answer that?'
