Mr. Quincy could tell she'd made up her mind, so he didn't press the issue. "Just be sure you know what you're doing."
"Yeah, we're heading back," Cecilia Adler said, saying her goodbyes. She and Ian Quincy led their daughter toward the back courtyard. Along the way, she sent Ian to grab the little one's pillow and a change of clothes.
The little girl had calmed down. "Mommy, I'm all better now. I can sleep by myself."
"Wow, you bounced back so fast. You're amazing."
The little girl nodded emphatically. "I'm all better." On the way home, her dad had promised that if she could sleep on her own, he would take her to see a movie once a month.
Cecilia Adler said, "Alright. If you get scared, you can come over to our room."
"Okay!"

Cecilia Adler gave her daughter a bath and tucked her into bed. She waited until the girl's eyes were closed and her breathing had evened out before quietly leaving the room.
