"Cecilia, Ian's leaving on a business trip tomorrow. Let me pick her up from school," Grandma said.
"How would you get there? You've never been before."
Grandma said, "When I came last time, you took me past the school. I remember the way. You just go out, turn left at the intersection, and there's a minibus. It's very convenient."
"No." Cecilia didn't agree.
'Grandma's new here, and her eyesight isn't what it used to be. What if she's not paying attention, misses her stop, panics, and gets lost?' "Grandma, why don't you wait until she starts first grade to pick her up?" Ian Quincy had already found a school for her nearby.
It was only a five-minute walk away. They had chosen it because older kids from the neighborhood also went there, so she could walk home with them. That way, if they couldn't pick her up one day, she could still get back on her own. And so, they had enrolled her.
