"You all go ahead and eat. I'll go get the dishes," Vivian Lee said with a cheerful laugh. She made two trips back and forth before Cecilia Adler had even completed her first. Just as Cecilia reached the door to the main hall, carrying the braised pork with cabbage and vermicelli, Vivian Lee took the platter from her. "All the dishes are here now!"
Cecilia Adler: "..."
"Wow, braised pork with cabbage and vermicelli! Your family eats so well."
"It's only because you're here, of course," Vivian Lee, ever the sweet-talker, replied. "Please, eat while it's hot."
Aunt Tate lapped it up, feeling important. She gripped her chopsticks, eyed the dishes, and secretly swallowed. "I won't be polite, then."
"Please, don't."
Before the words had even faded, Nick Hughes was the first to move his chopsticks. The vermicelli was soft and smooth yet chewy, and the pork belly was so fragrant it was mouth-wateringly delicious.
