The Double-headed Eagle Study Society of the Tower of Ten Thousand Techniques occupied a small study room. The space, about twenty square meters, was furnished with several life-sized bronze sculptures—mostly of heroes with swords or knights on horseback. The decor emulated the style of the Empire Court, and it also housed many genuine artifacts and documents, such as the genealogical records of former Empire Nobility.
In other words, this Study Society was full of so-called "retro" enthusiasts. The core members would even give themselves the middle name "von," without a second thought as to whether their own surnames originated from a noble fief.
The true Empire Faction looked down on them with contempt, but they had to rely on these "enthusiasts." They needed them to flock together, providing cover for the Empire Faction's anti-Alliance activities and gathering intelligence on the Tower of Ten Thousand Techniques.
