Chapter 4 - #4 The beginning of the war of unification

Information regarding the Emperor is extremely scarce; people only know that the Emperor existed long before the first human city was built, and that he is a Perpetual with powerful human strength.

He possesses countless titles: the "Emperor" of humanity, also known as the "Emperor of Mankind," the "Immortal Emperor," the "All-Father," "The Accursed," and the "God-Emperor."

But for now, he is simply the Emperor.

The Emperor is an extremely powerful Psyker, and he is also a Perpetual.

An immortal being possessing infinite knowledge, power, and the ambition to wield them.

According to the Emperor himself, the catalyst for his journey on this great path was his uncle murdering his father.

This event made the strongest human child in the entire Milky Way realize that humanity needed order, and good order required a good leader to create it.

From then on, the Emperor embarked on a path of self-righteousness and conquest.

The Emperor loves his own race; throughout the development of history, he has remained hidden among the masses, silently accumulating all kinds of knowledge and guarding his species.

He held a grand vision for humanity and assisted civilization's past lives in different eras under various identities; sometimes he was a scientist, sometimes a politician.

Sometimes he was also a religious leader. Throughout his long life, he learned how to strengthen and skillfully manipulate his psychic powers, making him the most powerful Psyker among humanity.

The Emperor knew the truth of the Warp; the Warp was far from as simple as humanity had previously perceived.

Yes, it is like a mirror of the real world, reflecting all the thoughts, emotions, and spirits of all intelligent beings.

In the early history of the Milky Way, various species had not yet developed to be too powerful; their various thoughts and emotions churned and receded in the Warp along with the flow of energy.

But as more and more intelligent races rose, their various emotions also increased.

Ultimately, because of a war that swept across the entire universe, several independent personality entities formed within the Warp; they are the Gods of the Warp, the Chaos Gods.

These evil Gods are all composed of a certain pure thought from intelligent beings.

What they pursue are also the strongest and most extreme expressions of desire and emotion in intelligent beings: the craving for life, the obsession with knowledge, the addiction to slaughter, and so on.

Under normal circumstances, these Warp creatures—Daemons—composed of the emotional will of beings are confined within the mirror of the Warp.

But whenever intelligent beings in the physical universe, for various reasons...

Such as being affected by extreme events like large-scale wars or frenzied religious fervor, their thoughts and emotions fluctuate violently and are mirrored into the Warp.

The Chaos Gods and their subordinates might use this power to break through the barriers of Realspace, opening the gates to the Material Universe to seek more emotion and excitement.

At the same time, Psykers, who are connected to the energy of the Warp, are also gateways that the Chaos Gods can exploit to enter reality.

Due to their unique constitution, whenever Psykers use their powers, their projection in the Warp shines as brightly as a flame, thereby attracting the attention of Warp creatures.

Some Psykers with insufficient willpower or skill might be invaded by Daemons from their Warp projections into their physical bodies in the real world, turning them into gateways connecting the two planes.

And now, with the collapse of civilization, a large number of Psykers have suddenly emerged in various human worlds, and humanity, spread throughout the galaxy, is radiating all kinds of intense emotions.

This is exactly what the Warp creatures want to see. As human reason collapses, the Chaos Gods will only grow stronger, devouring more and more worlds and planets; this is precisely what the Emperor needs to prevent.

Through his profound knowledge, he has realized that for certain reasons, the Warp storm that has lasted for thousands of years will soon subside.

The Emperor will once again step into the spotlight of history to help humanity avoid the destruction brought by the Warp. To this end, the first thing the Emperor must do is unify ancient and scarred Terra.

Iron Man turned to Thor and asked, "Thor, are there any records of him in Asgard?"

Thor shook his head: "No. There are no records."

"I'm wondering just how strong he must be to be worthy of that title."

Dr. Banner, with a shy smile on his face, pointed at the screen and said somewhat stutteringly, "Didn't the screen just say, uh... that this 'Emperor' is the most powerful Psyker?"

"The most powerful Psyker?" Thor curled his lip dismissively, his eyes revealing contempt for such a title. "I don't even know what their definition of a 'Psyker' is."

"Besides, I remember the description of Psykers on the screen."

Thor lightly tapped the handle of Mjolnir as if reminiscing, "If it's just about destroying planets..."

The heroes did not object; they knew Thor's power and understood the implication of his words.

"My father could do it quite easily," Thor said with pride.

"But in any case, with the appearance of this... Emperor of Mankind, our fellow humans at least won't have to suffer under the rule of tyrants, right?" said Captain America, Steve Rogers, a glimmer of hope in his voice.

"You might be overthinking it," Thor replied.

"When Perpetuals like them come to clean up such a mess, their methods will only be more tyrannical than those of the Techno-barbarians."

Thor, who had fought in the War of the Nine Realms alongside his father Odin.

Unlike Steve's relatively brief experience, he believed that the Emperor's appearance would not simply allow humanity to escape tyrannical rule.

"If Perpetuals like them haven't been in the spotlight all along, when they do step out to clean up a mess,"

Thor's voice was low, as if recounting a cruel truth, "their methods will only be more ruthless than those of tyrants, because only then can they minimize the casualties that would have resulted from the chaos."

"It's just that the deaths of innocents and civilians in the short term will reach an unprecedented number." Thor knew the difference between how Perpetuals and mortals perceived death and time.

"For Perpetuals like them, they never look at death tolls over a decade, but rather death tolls starting from a century."

As Thor's words fell, the heroes lapsed into deep thought; they began to realize that the appearance of this "Emperor" might not be a simple salvation.

In a dark alley in London, shrouded in smoke, Constantine leaned against a damp wall and took a heavy drag of the cigarette in his hand.

"What the hell is all this?"

Constantine expertly exhaled smoke through his nose.

"They've even brought out an 'Emperor of Mankind'."

"This world is getting crazier and crazier..."

"First, all sorts of superheroes flying everywhere, then this mysterious screen playing on its own..." Constantine took a step back, leaning against the wall with a mocking smile, pointing at the screen: "Who the hell asked you? Who are you showing this to?"

Then he shook his head helplessly.

"Emperor of Mankind? If it's true, I hope you can help me deal with my creditors; otherwise, your flock is going to be snatched away by wolves."

Constantine spat out the cigarette, a smile that was hard to tell if it was mocking or self-deprecating on his lips.

He fished a new Silk Cut cigarette out of his pants pocket, put it in his mouth, lit it, and took a deep drag:

"Can he compare to the Old Man Upstairs? Or to Satan?" Constantine's laugh held a hint of bitterness.

"Better think about how to deal with old Satan; he's been pressing for his debts lately."

As Constantine spoke, he walked casually toward home, not caring if he would see the screen again.

"Emperor of Mankind? I hope you don't fail that name," Batman said, looking at the "Emperor" on the screen.

"Guys, there's no need to be so sentimental."

Green Lantern chuckled: "What I mean is, the Green Lantern Legion is perfectly capable of protecting the peace of the universe from intrusion. Things like what's on the screen simply won't happen."

"There's no need to acknowledge such a..."

Green Lantern raised an eyebrow, "...'dictator'."

The heroes did not respond.

"Humanity's future is better off relying on humanity itself."

Batman said firmly: "If help is truly needed, we would still prefer to rely on humanity..."

The other human heroes, including Cyborg, did not object.

On this issue, everyone's stance was unanimous.
