Under the shimmering lights and constant cameras, he wore a smile—a perfect, practiced one. To the world, he was Chen Zheyuan, the rising star, the flawless actor with a captivating charm. But beneath that mask was a man quietly drowning in silence.

She didn't know how she got past the walls he'd built so carefully, but one night, when the city had gone quiet and the world had stopped watching, he let her in.

They sat on a rooftop, the wind gentle against their skin. No fans. No flashing lights. Just them.

"I envy people who live normal lives," he said suddenly, his voice barely above a whisper.

She turned to him, surprised. "You? Why?"

He looked out at the stars. "Because they can walk the streets without fear. They can cry without a camera capturing it. They can be themselves without disappointing thousands."

She saw it then—not the actor, not the celebrity—but the man behind the fame. His eyes held weariness. Not from work, but from pretending.

"Do you ever feel…lonely?" she asked gently.

"All the time," he replied. "It's strange—how I can be surrounded by people and still feel completely alone."

She didn't know what to say, so she simply held his hand. He squeezed it, as if silently thanking her.

For once, he wasn't Chen Zheyuan, the star.
