Curious, she walked over and lifted the lid of the largest pot. Sure enough, it was a pot of fragrant chicken soup. The other dishes were simple stir-fried vegetables, all prepared with care.
Her heart warmed instantly. Without hesitation, Mary sat down and began to eat, the satisfaction spreading from her stomach all the way to her heart. The chicken soup was rich and fragrant, and before she realized it, nearly half a chicken and most of the vegetables were gone.
She leaned back, patted her stomach contentedly, and let out a long sigh. "Being full really is the greatest happiness in life."
Just then, the door opened. Ryan walked in and heard her words, his brows lifting slightly. "You're full, but I'm still starving," he said, half amused and half aggrieved. "I only went out for a bit. I didn't expect you to wake up so soon. Do you know how long you slept?"
