Chapter 10 - He Always Believed in You

Nami was completely confused. She had no idea what Logan was talking about and urged him again, anxious and angry.

"I'm serious! If you don't leave right now, you're really going to get into trouble!"

Logan remained seated on the ground, eyes half-closed, looking as though he hadn't fully woken up.

Enraged, Nami swung her staff at a nearby Marine. Caught off guard, the Marine was struck and sent crashing to the ground.

Moments later, Colonel Nezumi shouted furiously:

"What are you idiots even searching for? I told you to find one hundred million Berries! Is that really so hard?!"

The instant Nami heard one hundred million Berries, her entire body froze.

Her pupils went unfocused. Her face turned deathly pale.

At that moment, no matter how naïve she might have been, she understood everything.

"…Did Arlong send you?" Nami demanded through clenched teeth.

Nezumi let out a sinister laugh.

"Who told you that? I never said anything like that."

A Marine at the side reported,

"Colonel, there's a white-haired swordsman lying on the ground. I think that spot looks suspicious. The stolen goods might be buried underneath him."

"What are you waiting for then?" Nezumi barked.

"Drive him away!"

"Yes, sir!"

The Marine acknowledged and walked toward the white-haired swordsman.

Nami grew even more frantic.

"I told you to leave and you wouldn't listen! Now even if you want to go, it's too late!"

"Nami," Logan said calmly as he stood up and casually lifted Zhenhai,

"do you know how kind you are?"

"Your one hundred million Berries are about to be taken away, and you're still worried about a complete stranger like me."

"I won't allow it—

I won't allow kind people to be the ones who suffer this world's injustice."

In that instant—

Logan's presence changed completely.

He stood there like a peerless divine blade embedded in the earth, vast and overwhelming.

He raised his eyes and calmly glanced at the approaching Marine.

The man froze in place.

His body stiffened, legs trembling, unable to move even a single step.

"Useless trash!" Nezumi cursed.

Without hesitation, he pulled out a revolver and fired directly at Logan.

Bang!

The gunshot echoed violently.

The bullet tore through the air toward Logan.

Nami stared in horror.

Logan remained perfectly calm.

He raised Zhenhai horizontally—

Clang!

The bullet was deflected away effortlessly.

"Don't embarrass yourself with toys like that, you little piece of trash," Logan sneered.

With a flick of his wrist, he brought the sword down in a single, clean arc.

A razor-sharp sword wave ripped through the ground and surged forward.

Nezumi's face changed instantly. He turned to flee—

But in the very next moment, his head separated from his body.

He died with his eyes wide open.

The surrounding Marines hadn't even had time to react before they saw their commanding officer decapitated.

Some instinctively raised their weapons, wanting to avenge Nezumi.

Others let out a long breath and collapsed to the ground.

Two of them were so shocked that the blades slipped from their hands and fell into the dirt.

Logan planted Zhenhai into the soil with a downward motion and spoke coldly:

"I know some of you were forced into this."

"I won't slaughter the innocent."

"Go back the way you came."

"But—

anyone who steps forward dies."

Silence fell.

Absolute silence.

Every Marine stood frozen, staring at the white-haired swordsman. In the end, not a single person dared to take a step forward.

"Who… who is this guy?"

"He killed a Marine colonel with one strike!"

"That rat bastard colluded with Arlong for years!" one Marine suddenly shouted.

"We've been oppressed by him forever—don't tell me you don't know it yourselves!"

"That's right! Nezumi committed countless crimes. He deserved to die!"

"There's no reason to risk our lives avenging a scumbag like him!"

"Let's go—let's report the truth to headquarters!"

With that, more than a dozen Marines turned and left in a group.

Logan turned back to Nami, who was still standing there in a daze, and smiled.

"All done."

"And about the oranges—consider them paid for."

"You—!" Nami stared at him in shock. It took her a long moment to react.

"You… you already knew everything?"

Logan waved it off.

"That's not important."

"More importantly—how much money are you still short? I've got some here. I can help you make up the difference so you can complete your agreement with Arlong."

Nami didn't answer.

She walked up to Logan and suddenly wrapped her arms around his neck, burying her face deep into his chest.

Her shoulders trembled as she silently sobbed.

Logan gently patted her back.

"It's okay. From today on… everything will get better."

"…Mm." Nami nodded softly.

Logan continued,

"If you trust me, then come with me now and find Luffy. He'll help you defeat Arlong."

Nami abruptly pushed him away, shaking her head urgently.

"No! There's no need anymore!"

"The money for my agreement with Arlong is already complete. As long as I give it to him, he'll definitely keep his promise and free everyone in the village!"

As she spoke, she picked up a shovel from the ground and began digging.

Soon, a large wooden chest emerged from the soil, secured tightly with a heavy iron lock.

Nami skillfully pulled a key from her chest and carefully opened it.

Inside were countless gold coins and stacks of banknotes.

"Look," she said with a bright smile, her reddish eyes sparkling with hope.

"This is everything I've saved over the years."

The moment Logan saw the money, his fists clenched tightly.

An uncontrollable rage surged in his chest.

A terrifying aura burst forth from his body.

If he hadn't restrained himself with everything he had, he would've gone straight to slaughter Arlong on the spot.

Every coin—

every note—

Was soaked in blood.

If Arlong dares to take this money, Logan swore silently,

I will hunt you to the ends of the sea and kill you myself.

Suddenly, Nami seemed to remember something.

"You should leave," she said urgently.

"You killed a Marine colonel. The Marines won't let this go."

"I'll be fine. With this money, Arlong will keep his promise."

Logan knew better.

Arlong would never keep his word.

But no matter how much he tried to persuade her now, she wouldn't believe him.

Completing that agreement had been her obsession for eight long years.

If she wasn't allowed to see it through herself, she would never truly give up.

"…Alright," Logan said at last.

"I'll leave."

"But promise me one thing—

if Arlong breaks his promise, go find Luffy."

"Let Luffy beat him to death."

Logan flicked his wrist, sheathed Zhenhai across his back, and turned to leave.

As he walked away, he raised his voice:

"Luffy has always believed you never betrayed him."

"He's been waiting for you the whole time."
