Chapter 1: Shu
Everything was black, but for some reason, he only felt intense cold. It was like being encased in a block of ice. Then, for some reason, he heard a voice that said something curious.
"I know you can hear me. Every now and then, I observe various humans who I find interesting, and you were one of them. You died, and I was presented with the opportunity to help a world that will go to hell in a couple of years. I've decided to give you a new body and powers so you can prevent that, either violently or peacefully, through words. Your new name will be Shu, Todoroki Shu," the voice said, prompting him to close his eyes. He simply felt twice as cold as before.
The first thing he saw when he opened his eyes (don't ask how) was a rather burly man with short, red hair, which reminded him of someone he had seen in his past life. Shortly after, he saw a woman with long white hair and gray eyes.
At one point, he saw himself in a window thanks to its reflection. His skin was very pale, making him look like a corpse (ironic). His hair was very short and white, like his mother's, and his eyes were gray, also like hers. Shu didn't know the reason for his extreme coldness and assumed it was normal. The white-haired boy realized something after a couple of minutes: there was another baby, but this one had mixed hair. He had white hair and a gray eye in the right side, and red hair with a blue eye in the left.
That triggered something in his mind. He remembered an anime/manga he had seen and read. A character matched that description: Todoroki Shoto. He was that character, and now he was that character's brother. The gray-eyed boy's thoughts were, —Damn it, I had to get stuck with the most traumatized family in anime. One positive thing about this is that I'm not the invisible one's brother, or I'd be practically useless.—
Four years later
Four years had passed since Shoto and Shu were born. The reincarnated boy showed intelligence, but not enough to avoid overexertion. Today, both brothers went to the doctor to find out about their Quirks. The mixed-haired boy turned out to have a dual Quirk, "half hot, half cold," while the boy with two lives' Quirk was rare in the family because of his ability to manipulate ice. Neither Shoto nor any of his brothers with ice Quirks had such control over the frozen element.
—To be honest, Mrs. Todoroki, your other son, Shu has a Quirk that allows him to control ice and create weapons— said the doctor who was treating the family.
—Is it as powerful as Shoto's Quirk?— she asked, curious about the information.
—Is it as powerful as Shoto's Quirk?— No one in his family had ever possessed such an ability, and the fact that Shu had it made him seem special in Rei's eyes. She asked about the power because she didn't want the older twin to hate his younger brother, and she knew Endeavor would train Shoto until he was number one, but with the white-haired boy, she wasn't sure he'd train him to the point of exhaustion.
—While Shu's quirk is powerful, in terms of raw power, Shoto's quirk is several times superior— the doctor said, answering Rei's question.
—Oh, I see. I think it's time we went. Thank you for your time— Todoroki said, taking her two sons' hands and starting to walk toward the exit.
—I think it's time we went. Thank you for your time— They started walking towards the building's exit, talking about what they wanted to be when they grew up (only Shoto, since Shu didn't like to talk much). When they got home, Rei, unable to hide her sons' Quirks from her husband, told him, and Endeavor took Shoto away to train so he could carry on his legacy. The white-haired twins were just standing there. Rei was saddened by her inability to do anything and by the fact that Enji was training one of her sons to the point of exhaustion. Shu could only watch as, despite his existence, Endeavor took Shoto away to train, and he was sure Shoto would become an emo.
The gray-eyed boy remembered all the injustice in the world he lived in, as shown in the manga. From that day on, he vowed to help change things as much as he could on the planet. He began training to overcome every adversity that came his way, practicing swordsmanship and martial arts, all so he could fight without using his Quirk and being discovered.
Nine years later
A man in a suit with dark skin could be seen. His physique didn't reveal his age, but he appeared to be at least 18. He was surveying the entire city from a building, and then he began running across the rooftops. The reason? He was a pro hero, but not just any pro hero. It was Eraserhead, the future eraser hero and teacher of Class 1-A at U.A. High School. The hooded figure ran toward an area clear of people, and upon arriving, he leaped into the air, where he would face Aizawa Shouta.
—You're under arrest for multiple murder, Black Noir— the underground hero said, his hair standing on end and his eyes glowing a bright red.
—You'll have to beat me before that, Eraserhead— the dark vigilante said, assuming a fighting stance.
Eraser launched himself at the dark man, throwing his tapes, which were cut by some kind of ice knife. The underground hero was surprised by this but tried to strike, but Eraser dodged and landed a punch to the stomach. He then jumped and delivered an upward kick to Aizawa's head, sending him sprawling backward. The man in black landed on his feet, and Shouta got up to try to strike, but his blow was deflected and returned by the vigilante in black.
He had a bad feeling and instinctively moved to the side. Seeing what had happened, he found fire that would likely have left him badly injured, hindering his escape. The cause was the hero of flames (I don't know why I pictured Enji on top of a llama), Endeavor.
—I guess our fight will have to wait. Goodbye, Eraserhead— said the vigilante, starting to run, followed by a flying Endeavor.
While Black Noir left with the flaming hero, Aizawa collapsed to the ground, injured and exhausted. This was the worst beating he'd ever received (too bad he doesn't know the Nomu is coming in two years 🗿).
With Black Noir and Endeavor.
The number two hero had lost sight of the dark vigilante while still searching the air for him. He was then kicked far away, having been caught off guard. Black Noir used the shadows to hide and attack while Endeavor was unaware. Some might wonder how the number two hero was caught off guard. The answer is simple: the flame-headed hero greatly underestimated the dark vigilante, something the man in black didn't let slip by.
In one of his surprise attacks, he managed to blind the number two hero, who used this opportunity to start running to escape the heroes approaching his and Endeavor's positions. This wasn't a misguided move, as minutes later the nearest heroes arrived at the scene of the confrontation.
Elsewhere.
A young man with white hair and gray eyes, dressed in a suit, could be seen arriving home after a long day of "school."
Upon opening the front door, Todoroki went inside and closed it behind him. He headed to the kitchen to find something to eat, as his long day at school had left him hungry. He found a note from his sister, Fuyumi, which read: "Little brother, if you're reading this, you must have just arrived from your friend's house and you're hungry. I left a plate of dinner in the microwave; just reheat it. Love, your big sister, Fuyumi."
—(What the hell did I do to deserve such a good sister?)— Shu thought, observing his older sister's actions.
After heating it up, he simply sat down to enjoy the dinner the older Todoroki had prepared. He'd been thinking about it lately: he was wasting his time taking down criminals when he could be spending it with his brothers. But instead, he went to school, left, and went straight to beating the crap out of delinquents. At only 13 years old, maybe he should give up this vigilante thing and enjoy his life. He'd already changed so many events that could have cost his younger brother his life. After all, he'd taken down Muscular when he was distracted and had killed several assassins. Maybe, just maybe, the attack on the U.S.J. wouldn't happen, nor the attack on the camp. If that were the case, he'd be altering the timeline enough to have it in his favor. And let's not forget that his father was probably trying to arrest him. After all, he'd humiliated him without a Quirk. He doubted that Endeavor, upon arriving, wouldn't train Shoto to exhaustion just to release his stress by beating him up.
It was official: he would stop being a vigilante to improve his life as Shu, not his life as Black Noir. After all, just like Peter Parker, being Spider-Man was ruining his life. The only good thing he had, unlike Peter Parker, was that he came from a wealthy family and didn't have to worry about working, but even so, it was only ruining his life, and he wasn't even 15 years old.
The next morning.
He went downstairs and was already dressed in another suit similar to the one he'd worn the night before. This was because his school didn't have a predetermined uniform, and students could wear whatever they wanted. When he went downstairs, he saw his older sister and Endeavor having breakfast, and across from Fuyumi, there was a place with a plate of food. He sat down and started eating.
—So, Shu, how's school going?— Fuyumi asked, interested in his academic performance.
—I guess it's okay, considering it's not my biggest concern— Shu said as he continued eating.
—I guess it's alright, considering it's not my biggest worry. If it's not your biggest worry, then why are you coming home late every night?— The Todoroki Woman asked, curious about what he'd said.
—I'm just going to hang out with my friend— the white-haired boy said, a little afraid of being found out.
—Oh, then I suppose you won't mind bringing him home this weekend— the white-haired girl with red markings said.
—(But damn it, why is she so insistent about coming home late every night?)— he thought angrily and fearfully, but without showing it on his face. —I guess I could bring him over, but I don't know if his mother would let him— the gray-eyed boy said, trying to save himself.
—Oh, then you could give me his mother's number so we can talk about him coming over— Fuyumi said, trying to prevent her brother from getting away with it.
—I suppose so, but I don't have his number, and I don't think he'll give me his mother's number— Shu said to his sister.
Endeavor, upon hearing everything, would simply slam his fist on the table, clearly fed up with the conversation. —Who the hell cares if you have friends or not? That son of a bitch Black Noir got away from me, and I don't want to hear about your life— the patriarch Todoroki said angrily, clearly unwilling to hear about his second-youngest son's life.
—Stop complaining about him getting away. I couldn't care less that he escaped. Stop throwing your childish tantrums. You're over 40 and the number two hero, but you act like you're five— the younger Todoroki told his father, unafraid of any repercussions.
Enji would hear that and stand up, followed by Shu. They stood face to face, their eyes locked. With a 20-centimeter difference in height, the gray-eyed boy would have to look up to see the number two hero, while the flame hero would look down. The adult Todoroki would begin generating fire, while the reincarnated Todoroki would begin generating cold, which in turn caused him to fall to the ground, creating frost.
—Tell me, who the hell do you think you are, brat? You only live in my house because I allow it— the number two hero said, glaring at his son.
—So what? You expect me to thank you after the miserable life I had for being your damn son? You sent Mom to a psychiatric hospital! If you expect me to thank you for things like that, then you're even more of an idiot than I thought— Shu said angrily to his father.
—I'd like to hear it. Then leave my house right now before I beat you up and leave you stranded in the street— the hero threatened the student.
—Fine, I'm leaving, but not because I have much to lose here. The only good thing you gave us was Fuyumi— the white-haired boy declared, starting to walk toward the exit.
Fuyumi wanted to say something, but she couldn't, fearing what Endeavor would do to her little brother. As the older of the Todoroki twins left the house, he was already thinking about where to live. No longer being in Endeavor's house meant he would have to work, which was a disadvantage, but he still wouldn't abandon his decision to give up the mantle of Black Noir. That suit and everything it represented had been ruining him, especially with his sister, something he didn't want.
"(I doubt I'll find a free place to sleep, so I guess I'll have to sleep on a park bench)," the gray-eyed boy thought resignedly as he continued walking.
4 months later.
A large crowd gathered in front of a giant screen in the city. Among them was our protagonist, who paused for a moment out of sheer curiosity. The television displayed an advertisement for a villain. He was green-haired with green eyes; little else could be discerned from his clothing and the dim lighting.
—Listen carefully, citizens of Musutafu. Today I come before you to warn the charcoal-colored vigilante to come before me, or else...— the villain declared, as the camera focused on a woman known to the gray-eyed man. — She will pay the consequences for your murdering my father. And while many may find this motive foolish, tell me, why should someone like him decide who lives and who dies?— He paused, giving the crowd time to ponder, but then the camera returned to him. —He had, and has, no right to decide who lives and who dies. That's why I dare you to come to me. Come find me and surrender so I can kill you and she can live. The location is the last place you appeared and faced Eraserhead. You have 24 hours to show up, or you know what will happen to her— with that, the green-haired man cut the transmission, leaving all the viewers in suspense.
Seeing how he threatened his best friend, Shu quickly went to Endeavor's house to retrieve the box containing his vigilante suit. He would quickly go and retrieve his suit, using his stealth skills to avoid being seen by anyone in the house. He went home; he needed to recover the memory of where his last fight had been, a fight from at least five months ago. He had 24 hours to remember the location and appear there. How the hell did that villain find out about you, Ayako?
Flashback
You can see the gray-eyed man walking on his way to school, luckily for him he had already resolved the issue of where to live and where to get the money to pay for housing. Not counting the social part, his life was improving, having an average of 9 in all subjects, according to his teachers he seemed more focused than before, but of course who would be focused being the number 1 security guard? Obviously no one could and Shu was no exception to that.
He had been thinking about everything that had happened in the last month and was thinking about whether to go and talk to his older sister, since he doubted that Endeavor hadn't broken Fuyumi's cell phone and made him buy another one so that he wouldn't be in her contacts and so he would lose all contact with the family, but he didn't really care if he was in contact with the rest of the family.
darkness, its reason for being and living.
At school, the teacher announced that they would have a new classmate. He gave the signal, and a rather pretty girl with long black hair and bright red eyes entered the classroom.
—Good morning, my name is Mitarashi Ayako and I am 12 years old— that beautiful girl introduced herself to her new classmates.
— Well, Mitarashi, go sit next to Todoroki— the teacher told him and seeing that the girl was confused he proceeded to speak again.— It's the white-haired boy in the middle near the window— the sensei clarified when he saw Ayako's confusion and Shu raised his hand to know which one it was.
So the preteen approached where the gray eye was and sat next to him, turning to look at him to talk to the boy. — what's your name?— the new girl asked the eldest of the Todoroki twins.
—My name is Todoroki Shu, nice to meet you Mitarashi— the white-haired boy introduced himself with finesse.
— And what is your quirk? Mine is sphinx and it allows me to make that if they don't answer a riddle correctly they have a random punishment, for example going bald— asked the girl with ruby eyes, fearlessly saying her quirk.
— My quirk is an ice quirk, and you shouldn't say things about your quirk so easily, you never know who might be listening —Todoroki answered her question and warned the black-haired girl.
End of Flashback
—Where the fuck was that?! —
Was what Shu asked himself angrily in his mind, his lack of memory would make Ayako suffer from something that has nothing to do with it, now apart from having to put the damn suit back on he has to rush to save one of his loved ones who are very few.
When he finished thinking about that, he began to use the internet and searched about his fight with Eraserhead and his escape from Endeavor.
It took her a while to find information about that night but she did and with 22 hours left, she just had to put on that suit to go save her friend, she had to be brave and wear the suit again even if it was one last time and just to save her friend. He did not want to put on the suit but remembering that he was doing it for his friend made him put on his entire suit without fear. The suit not only consisted of an outfit similar to that of a ninja but also had a kind of black suit over his entire body except in the area of his eyes which had holes to see through them. When he put on the suit he made ice weapons and kept these weapons in the suit.
When he did that he opened the window of his apartment and went out through it, jumping from building to building towards the part where his last fight had been months ago, on the way I can think of a plan, obviously I would have to fight if I wanted to get out alive but that could put Ayako in danger and the villain could not keep his word and kill her anyway, he had two plans, one in case he kept his word and let his friend go and another in case he didn't keep his word.
Upon arriving at that location he searched the nearby buildings until he found it.
—So now your life depends on a guy who seems to have retired 4 months ago, but maybe he's good and comes out of retirement just to help you— said the green-haired villain to the raven-haired girl who was tied to a chair.
—Congratulations, you're right, I'm here— Black Noir would say while standing in the door area.
— Well, it seems that Black Noir deigned to come out of retirement for the beautiful damsel— the emerald-eyed villain spoke in a mocking tone.
— Let her go and I will kneel so that you can have your long-awaited revenge, just let her go— proposed the black-suited guard.
— Well, it seems that you were only here for three hours, congratulations, now go— indicated the villain in normal clothes to cut the ropes that they had tied to the one with ruby eyes.
—Thank you— Ayako whispered as she ran past Shu's side.
—Now returning to you, thanks to you my family lost their husband and father, all because of you, damn vigilante— revealed the teenager to the pre-adolescent and then threw himself on him with a knife that would be blocked with another but made of ice.
The villain was surprised by this but still did not back down and threw himself again with the knife but this time he would be dodged and they would throw an ice shuriken at him, which he dodged but received a cut from the ice knife in the leg, that generated pain and cold, pain from the cut that the knife produced and cold from the temperature of the weapon mentioned above. The guard threw a kunai for Emerald to repel and tried to lunge at the black-robed one to stab him, but some sai's would block the cut. The odd-haired young men fought for an hour until they stopped while breathing heavily.
—Why can't I kill you?— The green-haired man asked while breathing heavily.
—I guess it's because I'm good— replied the white-haired man while also breathing heavily.
At that moment they heard one of the doors of the building being broken down. —I suppose we'll have to keep the desire to kill ourselves— said the gray-eyed man when he heard the sound of the door being broken down.
—The damn heroes saved you— Emerald Eye would say as he put his knife in his pocket.
—Anyway, I'm leaving, I only came out of retirement to save that girl not to face heroes— Black noir told the villain while putting his sai's in his suit.
When the heroes and the police arrived at the place where they had previously kidnapped Ayako, no one was in the place and there was only the chair and the ropes cut, seeing the lack of both violators of the law endeavor was angry, because for the second time the vigilante number 1, Black Noir, had escaped him. Aizawa sighed in defeat at the lack of the villain and the vigilante, the same vigilante he had promised to catch to prevent him from murdering again but didn't even find him.
When he arrived at his house the Todoroki took off his complete suit and put it in that metal box with locks, he hoped not to have to come out of the retreat again, since he had enough to leave the retreat once, hopefully the problems would end but this will not be the only change in the timeline and it will not be Shu's last time with the cloak.
