Chapter 11 - Chapter 11

*Chapter 11: The Tower of Shadows*

Aria's eyes fixed on the tower, her heart pounding in her chest. It loomed before them, a dark and foreboding presence that seemed to suck the light out of the air. The tower's peak was shrouded in mist, its base surrounded by a sea of writhing, twisting shadows that seemed to writhe and twist like living things.

J followed her gaze, his eyes narrowing as he took in the sight. "The Tower of Shadows," he said, his voice low and serious. "I've heard of it, but I never thought I'd see it for myself."

Aria's curiosity got the better of her. "What is it?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.

J's face was grim. "It's a place where the darkness has consumed everything," he said. "A place where time itself has been warped and distorted. They say that anyone who enters the tower will be trapped forever, lost in the shadows."

Aria felt a shiver run down her spine, but she knew that they had no choice. They had to keep moving, had to find a way out of the Wastes. And the tower was the only landmark in sight.

As they approached the tower, the shadows seemed to grow thicker, twisting and writhing around their ankles like living things. Aria could feel their icy tendrils wrapping around her legs, trying to hold her back. She shuddered, feeling a creeping sense of dread.

J's grip on her hand tightened, his eyes scanning the shadows. "Stay close to me," he said, his voice low and urgent. "We don't know what's in there."

Aria nodded, her heart pounding in her chest. She could feel the weight of the tower looming over them, its presence seeming to press down on her like a physical force.

As they stepped into the tower, the shadows closed in around them, swirling and twisting in a mad vortex of darkness. Aria felt herself being pulled down, down, down into the depths of the tower, her mind spinning with fear and disorientation.

When the shadows finally cleared, Aria found herself standing in a great hall, the ceiling lost in darkness. The walls were lined with ancient, crusting mirrors, their glassy surfaces reflecting the flickering light of torches that seemed to burn with a cold, blue flame.

At the far end of the hall, a figure sat on a throne, its eyes fixed intently on Aria and J.

Malika.

Aria felt a surge of fear, but J's grip on her hand was steady, his eyes locked onto Malika's.

"You've led us on a merry chase, Malika," he said, his voice cold and detached. "But it's over now."

Malika smiled, her eyes glinting with triumph. "Oh, no," she said, her voice dripping with malice. "It's only just beginning."
