Chapter 15 - Chapter 15

*Chapter 15: The Shadow's Edge*

Aria's heart was racing as she strained to hear the faintest whisper of J's presence. The darkness seemed to be playing tricks on her, making her think she heard the soft rustle of his clothes, the gentle whisper of his breath. But she knew it was just her imagination, her mind desperate for any sign of hope.

And then, she heard it again. A faint scratching sound, like fingernails scraping against stone. Aria's eyes widened as she realized that J was trying to communicate with her, to let her know that he was close.

The sound grew louder, more insistent, and Aria felt a surge of hope. J was here, and he was coming for her. She tried to call out to him, but her voice was trapped in her throat, her vocal cords frozen with fear.

The scratching sound grew louder, more urgent, and Aria felt the darkness around her begin to shift and swirl. She was being pulled towards J, her body moving involuntarily towards the sound of his voice.

As she emerged from the darkness, Aria saw J's face, his eyes locked onto hers with a fierce intensity. He was crouched beside her, his hand reaching out to grasp hers, his fingers warm and strong.

"Aria, come on," he whispered, his voice low and urgent. "We have to get out of here, now."

Aria nodded, her mind still reeling with the shock of being rescued. She stumbled to her feet, her legs weak and trembling, but J's grip on her hand was like a lifeline, holding her up.

As they moved through the darkness, Aria heard Malika's voice, screaming with rage and frustration. "You'll never escape me!" she shrieked, her voice echoing off the stone walls.

J's grip on Aria's hand tightened, and he pulled her closer. "We're not going to let her win," he whispered, his voice filled with determination.

But as they moved deeper into the darkness, Aria felt a creeping sense of unease. They were being led deeper into the heart of the labyrinth, further away from the world above.

And she wasn't sure if they would ever find their way out.

The darkness seemed to be closing in around them, making it harder to breathe, harder to think. Aria stumbled, her foot catching on the uneven stone floor, and J caught her, holding her up.

"We're almost there," he whispered, his voice low and reassuring. "Just a little further."

But Aria wasn't sure if she could make it. The darkness was suffocating her, weighing her down with its oppressive presence. She felt like she was drowning, trapped in a sea of blackness.

And then, she saw it. A tiny pinprick of light, a distant star in the darkness. Aria's heart leapt with hope as she realized that it was their only chance.

J followed her gaze, his eyes locked onto the light. "That's it," he whispered, his voice filled with excitement. "That's our way out."

But as they moved towards the light, Aria felt a sense of trepidation. It was too easy, too simple. Malika wouldn't just let them escape.

Or would she?
