The phone battery percentage showed 6%. Anisa quickly dialed Yugh. He answered, and she said, "Yugh, I'm alone…" but the moment she mentioned the name of the city, her phone died. 😖
"Asshole!" she exclaimed, stomping her foot on the ground in frustration before putting her phone back in her bag. Standing alone on the deserted road in the darkness, her heart raced with fear. Her wristwatch showed the time as 12:30 AM.
"Yugh must have heard my message clearly, right? He'll come, won't he?" she thought, waiting and watching the road. About an hour later, a vehicle stopped in front of her, its lights causing her to squint. Seeing Yugh step out and approach her brought her immense relief. 😭
"You only said the city's name. I called back but your phone wasn't working. I've been searching this entire city for you," he said as he reached her.
"Sorry for troubling you so late. I had no other option—my phone died too," she told him. Looking at her, he saw her shivering from the cold and, as usual, draped his coat over her. 😥
"If you're going out at night, can't you at least wear a coat?" he said, his voice a bit stern.
"Sorry, I forgot," she replied, looking down and putting on the coat he gave her. 🙃
"Hmm… but didn't you say you were going to meet your fiancé? Where is he?" Yugh asked, looking around.
Anisa didn't answer, just kept her gaze fixed on the ground. Realizing this wasn't the right time to discuss it, Yugh took her arm and led her to his car. 😩
The moment she got into the car, Anisa let out a deep sigh. Though she could still feel Yugh's warmth from the coat, her heart felt completely cold.
Yugh started the car, but for several minutes, no words were exchanged between them. As the streetlights passed by one after another, Anisa stared out the window, as if to hide the turmoil within her mind. 🌆
"Anisa…" Yugh began, lowering his voice slightly.
She didn't look at him.
"I don't want to scold you. But being alone on a road at night like this… it's not a good thing." 🗣
She nodded slightly.
"I understand…"was all she said.
That answer wasn't enough for Yugh. He looked at her with eyes mixed with concern and a hint of pain.
She also looked at him and spoke.
"I really had no one.I thought… I could handle it." 😔
Yugh fell silent for a moment. Then, in a calm voice, he said,
"Don't think you have to handle everything alone.Everyone needs someone at some point."
Those words fell heavily on Anisa's heart. She had rarely, if ever, seen Yugh speak so gently since Zahra's death. 😑
"About your fiancé… we'll talk later," he continued. "Right now, what matters is that you're safe."
The car moved forward silently. Anisa sank into the seat with a deep sigh.
Only one thought remained in her heart,no matter how much she tried to escape reality, Yugh always found her. 💝
