Chapter 16 - 15

Felmer was in the living room of his house, and Anna was beside him, reading a storybook. He was thinking about the unexpected support Terizia had shown him. And more surprisingly, after he challenged them in the council.

"Should I trust them?" Felmer thought, "But that would be betrayal of the whole nation."

Felmer was hesitant about trusting a foreign force in matters of his country. Half of him wanted to trust Terizia to overthrow Raftin, but half of him loudly declared that it's the worst decision possible. As he thought and looked at his sister, Elna, Melfer, and Irnik entered the room. They walked near him and sat on the sofa.

"Went smoothly?" Felmer asked Elna.

"Yes, nothing special happened. We had just cleared the road from threats, so it was expected to be safe."

"What will you do?" Irnik adjusted and directly faced Felmer.

"About what?"

"Terizia's revolutionary support."

"Oh, that…I was just thinking about it when you came."

"I advise that you refrain from any kind of foreign support and do things for the country in the country." Elna stared into his eyes.

"I wouldn't trust him. You openly challenged their loyalty in the council, and then, outside, he says that to you. He has an ulterior motive." Melfer said as he placed his sword on the table.

"I was thinking the same. I think that he will be with the victor and is just trying to heat the fight." Felmer replied.

"I will only say that you use the assets you have. Any kind of foreign involvement will worsen the situation and lead to either your exile or execution on the basis that you abandoned the national code and betrayed the people. You should know the law more than anyone." Elna stroked her hair.

"Okay…" Felmer nodded and sighed.

The squad rested, and the time passed. Later, Elna headed back to her office, and Irnik got busy with his other duties. Only Felmer and Melfer remained in the room.

"It's hard, right?" Melfer asked as he gazed at the ceiling.

"Politics?"

Melfer slightly nodded.

"Yes…Uses a lot of brain. You won't know when you will make an enemy. And then the heirship, and then this squad. It is hard." Felmer's empty eyes looked at a picture hanging on the wall. The frustration was visible.

"I am not very good at this field, and I can't be the heir as I am adopted. I can only support you with this." He said, pointing at his sword. Then he picked it and got up. "But, remember…I don't know about others…I am always with you. Don't forget that. Whether I turn bad or not." Melfer smiled.

Felmer smirked. "I won't forget, brother." He said with his hand on his heart.

Melfer left the room, and then Felmer dozed off on the sofa.

Time passed by, and Felmer opened his eyes as Emilia shook her. He looked below and saw Anna sleeping on his lap. Emilia picked her.

"If you are gonna sleep for a long time, then go to your room. That's more comfortable.

"Everywhere is comfortable when you are tired," Felmer said while half asleep. He picked up his sword, went to his room and slept.

Larnet sat at the dining table and ate his dinner. A maid came and placed sweets in front of him. Laminar was there as well.

"Anything you are interested in?" Larnet asked.

"In what regard?"

"Anything."

"It can be politics, the skill of the sword. Depends…"

"Hmmm…Those two are very common. You ever thought about ruling?"

"That's also an uncommon dream. I can't currently, but if I get the chance, I would."

"Why can't?"

"Because you are."

"That is your excuse?" Larnet stopped eating and looked at Laminar.

"I don't understand."

"I talked about ruling. I didn't ask what. If you can't rule this nation, then what would you do? Sit and give up? Our enemy has a small land. They also have a leader. He rules as well." He looked at Laminar, who couldn't understand. "You will understand as time passes."

"I slightly understand. But my dreams are big." He wiped his face with a handkerchief and got up from his chair. "If I can't rule this. Then I will take it and rule." He said and was about to leave.

Laminar smiled from his reply. He barely understood. "Your older brother is coming."

"Rinfis?" Laminar stopped.

"Yes…"

"The shortest path is through Cerfis…You think they will allow passage?"

"And you think they will oppose?" Larnet stared at Laminar.

Laminar shook his head, and then he left the room.
