Chapter 18 - 17

As noon approached, the Falvarian fleet, comprising two ships, arrived at the Cerfisian port. The general and the squad stood there with the district chief, Yalifi Wirker. The ships stopped at the harbour, and the Falvarian party got out of the ship. The royal guard marched in front, and behind them was Rinfis Falva. The second prince, Laminar Falva, was there as well, as the head of the guards and the prince. The hosts were pretty confused, as they weren't informed about the second prince.

"Welcome, prince…" Yalifi said to Rinfis.

Rinfis looked at the chief, then the squad and then at the people. The people looked at him with hatred and discontent.

"Thank you…"

The prince replied and arrogantly looked at Yalifi. Soon, their soldiers took out their horses from the ship.

"You are not going to rest here?" Yalifi asked, following the protocols of hospitality.

"No…I would like to leave as fast as possible. I have work to do. Where is our escort?"

"The escort is here…" The chief replied, mentioning the squad. "They will show you the way."

"Nice to meet you…I am the leader of the escort." Elna stepped forward and said.

"Hmph…A woman…" The prince said with discontent.

Elna looked at her with anger and clenched her fists.

"They are quite experienced." The chief replied. He was angry as well.

The prince didn't say anything, and they began to move. The royal guard ahead and the convoy behind. Laminar looked at Felmer. He knew he was the heir.

'The Cerfisian heir,' Laminar thought.

The chief signalled to Elna, and they followed them on their horses. The convoy moved through the city streets. The people looked at the Falvarians with hate and discontent. Many had the urge to even attack them. But they couldn't.

The squad hurried and took the lead of the convoy. The convoy consisted of many carts as well. They had come from Tarmil, after signing a ceasefire deal and had many souvenirs from there. They mostly had food, clothes, and some books.

The convoy left the village, moved through the central plains, bypassing the western district, and by evening, they were entering the forests of the southern district.

The time was near sunset when they were travelling through the forest. Elna and the squad led. Throughout the journey, Laminar had been looking at Felmer.

Melfer rode close to Felmer and talked.

"I think the second prince loves you," Melfer said with a smile.

"What the heck?" Felmer was caught totally off guard with this sentence.

"He has been looking at you since they arrived."

"Oh, c'mon. Correct your phrasing." Felmer replied. He had noticed that as well. But he ignored. Those eyes were of suspicion and hate.

As the convoy moved, an arrow emerged from their right and swerved towards Elna, but she stopped the arrow with her hand, and the whole squad stopped. The royal guards and the convoy stopped as well.

Then, from the bushes and the trees, several armed people emerged. They were from the biggest terrorist group in the region. The squad was about to engage with them, but Rinfis stopped them.

"Don't bother…The royal guard will handle these pesky bandits."

"They aren't bandits, they are terrorists, dumbass…" Felmer said under his breath.

The royal guard numbered 7, led by Laminar. They got off their horses and then attacked the terrorists. Their way of fighting was a bit royal and peaceful. They had spears and were fighting like they had no experience. Only the prince was fighting properly and killing the enemy.

Felmer couldn't watch it. He was getting angry and frustrated at their stupid way of fighting. He couldn't hold. He got off his sword, manifested it with magic, and unleashed an attack. A green blade emerged from the sword and killed four bandits. He walked to the one who seemed to be their leader. The terrorist attacked Felmer. Felmer parried and stabbed his heart. The time in which the guard killed three, Felmer killed five.

Laminar killed the remaining terrorist and walked near Felmer.

"I appreciate the assists…" He hadn't completed and was interrupted.

Another large group of terrorists emerged from the forest and, without waiting, attacked the carts and all the soldiers. The remaining squad got off their horses and began to engage with them. Rinfis remained on his horse and watched the blood bath.

The squad and the guards killed several terrorists. One of them ran towards Rinfis and was about to attack. But Melfer hit the attacker with a long-range magical attack and beheaded him. The head fell, and some blood drops fell on Ranfis's clothes.

"Filthy blood…" He commented.

Felmer and Melfer ran towards the terrorists attacking the carts and attacked them. They exchanged several blows and killed many. As they fought, an enemy emerged from Laminar's back. But Felmer decapitated him. Laminar nodded in thanks.

The squad and the guards got rid of the terrorists, and many ran away. They didn't pursue any. They didn't have the time to.

"Thanks…" Laminar said to Felmer, and he got on his sword.

"Hmmm…saving the prince," Melfer whispered in Felmer's ear.

Felmer smirked in response and got on his horse.

There wasn't much loss, and no one died on their side. So, they left the bodies where they were and continued their journey to the border.

After sunset, they arrived at the border. On the other side, soldiers of the Falvarian army were waiting for them. The squad stopped, and the convoy moved ahead. As they passed, Rinfis stopped near Felmer.

"You are the prince, right?"

Felmer looked at him. "Yes…" And replied in the same tone.

Rinfis called a guard, whispered something in his ear, and then the guard bought a book from one of the carts and handed it to Rinfis.

"Here…" Rinfis handed it to Felmer. It was an old history book. "A gift for saving my brother's and my life." He said mockingly. Of course, he didn't care about Felmer's action, nor did Felmer. But Felmer took it.

"I appreciate the gift…" Felmer replied.

Then the convoy left, and the squad headed back to Nolos.

'I will kill him next time I see his stupid face.' Felmer thought.

Obviously, he wasn't happy.
