Chapter 31 - Shadows After Awakening

The core of the artifact still pulsed with a rhythm that seemed not quite human. Kael moved forward first, assessing the situation. The metallic walls trembled, and sparks flew between the wires, as if the station itself were trying to push the team away.

Zara, still buzzing with adrenaline, leaped across the corridor and fired at a drone that had appeared unexpectedly from a side chamber. "Long live chaos," she said, her smile cold and adrenaline-fueled.

Rex moved to the side, blocking the flank and eliminating further obstacles. His rifle pulsed in rhythm with the artifact, each shot precise and controlled. "The artifact is still responding. If we lose synchronization... we won't get out of here in one piece."

Lira approached the terminal on the wall and began synchronizing the energy fields, creating a protective filter. "The core reacts to everything—our movements, our emotions, every breath. One false move could cost us our lives."

Taro leaned over the wires, analyzing the artifact's pulse. "The variable frequency is unstable. We must move as one unit. If we spread out, the core may separate or destroy us."

Suddenly, the shadow appeared again, this time moving across the ceiling, faster than the eye could follow. Kael gave the command: "Formation! Don't let it surprise us!"

Zara rolled in the air, dodging another trap, and fired at the drone. "I really like this chaos," she said, assessing the situation.

Rex assessed the energy columns around them, which had begun to react to their presence. "The artifact is becoming aggressive. Kael, if we lose our rhythm... everything could collapse."

Kael looked at the artifact's pulse. "We stick together. Synchronization is our life. The artifact leads us; we follow."

The energy columns spinning in rhythm with the artifact suddenly changed frequency, and a sharp, pulsing sound filled the chamber. Kael felt his body respond to the rhythm, each pulse vibrating through his muscles and bones.

Zara leapt over the cable, landing smoothly on the platform. She fired at the drones that appeared from unpredictable angles. "Damn, the artifact really likes to test us," she said, grimacing.

Rex moved toward a side corridor where the columns began to generate discharges. Light reflected off the metal walls, creating chaos. "The artifact reacts to our thoughts and movements," he said. "We can't afford mistakes."

Lira focused on the terminals, synchronizing the energy fields. "The core reacts to our movements and our emotions. Hesitate, and the columns could destroy part of the chamber."

Taro adjusted the wiring settings, sparks flying more frequently. "The artifact is adaptive. It changes rhythm and frequency. Spread out, and we may not get out alive."

The shadow attacked again, surprising them from behind. Kael gave a quick order: "Form a circle! Every movement is controlled!"

Zara rolled in the air, dodging a column's discharge, and opened fire. "This is just a test, and I can already feel the artifact watching us," she said, jumping to the next platform.

Rex held his fire, analyzing the columns and opponents. "The artifact is changing the pace and strength of its pulses. If we lose synchronization... It's over."

Kael looked at the team. "We don't stray from the rhythm. Every pulse is a guide. We must move as one organism."

The walls shook harder, and the columns generated more powerful discharges. The team moved in sync, every movement precise, every shot accurate. The artifact pulsed like a living organism, affecting their senses and adrenaline.

Zara jumped toward the last column, dodging the discharge. "It's not over," she said, smiling in rhythm with the pulsing energy.

Rex covered the flank with fire, while Lira and Taro coordinated the protective fields. Kael felt the team become one with the energy, moving as a single organism
