Sophia's eyes widened as she stared at the figure standing in the shadows. It was Lady Emily, and she was alive.
"Lady Emily?" Sophia whispered, her voice barely audible.
Lady Emily stepped forward, her eyes locked onto Sophia's. "Hello, Sophia," she said, her voice low and husky. "I've been waiting for you."
Sophia's mind was racing as she tried to process what was happening. Lady Emily was alive, and she was involved in whatever was going on in the palace.
But why? And what did she want with Sophia?
"Sophia, I know you're confused," Lady Emily said, her voice gentle. "But I can explain everything. Come with me."
Sophia hesitated, unsure of what to do. But Lady Emily's eyes were kind, and Sophia felt a strange sense of trust.
She nodded, and Lady Emily led her to a hidden door behind the mirror. The door opened onto a narrow staircase, and Sophia followed Lady Emily down into the darkness.
As they walked, Lady Emily told Sophia about her past. About how she had been a part of the palace, and how she had discovered secrets that threatened the royal family's power.
"I knew I had to leave," Lady Emily said, her voice barely above a whisper. "But I was caught, and...well, you know the rest."
Sophia's eyes widened as she realized the truth. "You faked your own death," she whispered.
Lady Emily nodded. "I had to, Sophia. I had to protect myself, and I had to protect the truth."
Sophia's mind was racing as she tried to process everything. She was in over her head, and she knew it.
But she was determined to uncover the truth, no matter what it took.
As they reached the bottom of the staircase, Sophia saw a figure standing in the shadows. It was Detective James, and his eyes were fixed on Lady Emily with a mixture of surprise and suspicion.
"Lady Emily," he said, his voice firm. "I thought you were dead."
Lady Emily smiled, her eyes sparkling with amusement. "I'm not dead, Detective. I'm just...hidden."
Detective James's expression was skeptical. "I don't know what game you're playing, Lady Emily," he said. "But I'm going to uncover the truth."
Lady Emily's smile grew wider. "I'm counting on it, Detective," she said. "I'm counting on.
As Sophia watched, she felt a strange sense of unease. She was caught in the middle of a game she didn't understand, and she was starting to realize that the stakes were higher than she had ever imagined.
