The day of the entrance test came, Lucious was humming walking through the gates of the colloseum, It was where the test of the knight department was take place it. Lucious was so sure of himself, that his hardwork will pay off, seeing cadets from around the country coming to the capital hyped up Lucious even more.
Lucious walked into the colloseum, around him, thousands of spectators came, some come to watch their children, some come to scout for future mercenaries, and some just come for amusement. The crowd was roaring as an old man showed up, just a flick of a finger, fireworks from his hand shot up to the sky, as he announces himself.
"I am Cornelious Grinsaw, and I am the principle of the Aethelgard Royal Academy, I am here to annouce, that the 427th entrance exam of the knight department, BEGIN!!!" There were two dragons behind Cornelious flying to the skye and shoot out flames in a X shaped as Cornelious begin the entrance exam.
After that, another man behind cornelious showed up, he looked much younger but still showed out the aura of a true knight, Lucious didn't know who he is, but people was cheering his name, the crowd, the cadets.
"Greetings young prospects, I am the Sir Florian De Ciel, the captain of the Royal Knights of the Aethelgard kingdom, and I have been entrusted by dean Cornelious to host this entrace exam and be the judge of every single one of you. I will explain the rules of the entrance exam now, so please listen clearly." Everyone around was cheering on to him, Lucious watch him with sparkling eye, this is who he wants to become in the future.
"The entrance exam, will take a span of a month, me and other judges will pair you all up, but you young knights can still choose to challenge each other, and if the other side accepted the challenge, you two will come to inform me. The 100 student with the most wins will be the official student of the royal academy." As he finished his sentanced, people around the stadium was clapping like crazy.
'That man is something huh' Lucious don't know who he is, but he sure is popular. Each competitors were given a piece of paper that showed them who and when they have to face their opponents. Lucious first fight was today, schedual around afternoon.
Because his fight was in afternoon, he decided to join in the colloseum sits and watch the first fight, to see who his opponent will be.
"The first battle will be between Kaelen Valiant against Julian Thorne" Florian screamed out
"Let the battle beginnn!!"
"Isnt my first opponent also Julian?" Lucious scrambled the paper to search for it, his first opponent is indeed Julian, this is a good oppotunity for Lucious to gather information about his opponent, as Julian suddenly summoned a firery bird creature above him, Lucious was baffled.
"what is that thing, is it legal?"
"That bird is a spirit, Julian is a spirit knight, and yes, it is legal." a voice sitting next to him explained to him.
"My name is Felica Thorne, Julian older sister, a third year student from the mage department, nice to meet you." Felica reach out her arm to shake with Lucious.
"What is a spirit knight ?" Lucious asked when he reach out his hand as well.
"Our family is quite famous for using spirit, as I am also a spirit mage, a spirit knight is a knight who formed a contract with a spirtit to used the spirit power to aid him in power, Julian had made a contract with a very strong spirit, so I afraid that Kaelen kid would have a hard ti...." As Felica almost finished her sentance.
"Winner, Kaelen Valiant!!"
'It seems Julian is not that strong right' the fight was so quick that it was wrapped up in one conversation, I wasn't able to watch the fight, but Julian must not be that strong' Lulious thought as seeing Julian unable to stand up anymore and Felica looked dumbfounded.
Soon Lucious fight came, he was surprised when Julian seemed almost unharmed.
"I thought you were dead." Lucious teased Julian
"This will be quick." Lucious leaped at Julian.
"I only loss, because that man was a monster." Julian countered Lucious and kicked him flying to the wall. His body was almost unmovable after that. 'How is that guy so strong?' Lucious trying to leap back at him but Julian just blocked it and kicked Lucious to the wall again.
"Why? Why are you so weak?" Julian questioned Lucious, but that wasn't even a joke or mock, that was a genuine question, and Julian was questioning in anger.
"Why is someone as weak as you here, and you even dare to mock me for losing to that monster, i won't even use my spirit for a trash like you" Julian came flying at Lucious, he wasn't able to block it, Julian slashed a critical slash toward Lucious chest, making him unable to fight, even Florian have to intervene for any further damage.
Seraphina from the crowd was worried about Lucious, her worried was right, Lucious isn't strong enough to fight against well trained knight. He was simply lacking swordsmanship.
At a motel near there, Seraphina was trying to encourage Lucious, as Lucious just loss without even able to hit back once, it was embarassing. But he tried to encourage himself, Felica also said that Julian is strong.
But after a month, Lucious have loss every single fight, he couldn't fight back, they were all too fast, all too powerful, Lucious was helplessly against all of them, his last fight was against Kaelen Valiant, a man who had one every single one of his fight, no loss, not even one injury. What Julian said is true, he is a monster, Lucious wanted to run away, he doen't want to fight anymore, to be embarassed anymore, his dream have been shattered anyway, he is too weak, and no way could he get into the academy anymore, his dream of becoming a knight is over. He was in front of the gate for the final battle, but his feet was trembling, he was scared, terrified, the pain of being beaten, the embarassment of being a laughing stock, it was right in front of him, he wanted to run away, but there was no way back. 'This will be my last fight anyway, why not give all i got' Lucious took out his necklace, and threw it to his locker, he picked up his sword, ready for his last battle.
As Lucious walked into the arena, Kaelen suddenly had goosebumbs. Like it was instinct, Kaelen stand into a fighting stance before the judge even call start. Kaelen is the eldest son of one of the most influencial family in aethelgard for demonic beast hunting, and the feelings that Kaelen is having when Lucious walk to the arena, was the same as Kaelen standing infront of a powerful demonic beast. Kaelen let out a smile, from a very young age, he was the prodigy of prodigy, no knights his age could ever entertain him, he always practice with demonic beast. He was even invited to the academy, but he refused it because he wanted to fight other student just to find who could entertain him, but no one give him any feelings, just boredom, until now, Kaelen was trembling. This is the feelings he had always craved for.
"Lucious Fable against Kaelen Valiant, Beginnnn!!!"
Kaelen leaped at Lucious with lightning speed, faster than anyone who fough with Lucious before, But this time, Lucious actually saw it, he reacted to it, blocking Kaelen attacks. Both were surprised and baffled. Kaelen laughed and continuously attacked at Lucious, but he block every attack, his speed and strength, especially reaction time was so much faster than before. But not only blocking, Lucious had found a weak spot, he countered attack, it was just a swing, the normal swing that Lucious had practiced thousands of time in the cabin. But this time, the speed of it was faster than Kaelen could react and even what Lucious intended, he tried to dodge it but was sliced in the chest.
Although coughing up blood, Kaelen adrenaline was so high right now there were no pain.
"You should be proud, Lucious, My family permit me of ever using this swordsmanship against any regular human, but you, you are no regular human are you" Kaelen said it as he was prepare for something. 'Did he know already? That fast' Lucious was buried in thought after Kaelen said that, He was afraid the secrets is already out, Kaelen knew everything now, everything is over. But as Lucious is thinking, Kaelen leaped to Lucious, this time even faster than before.
" The only two human I have used Valiant swordsmanship are you and that b*tch zephyr, be proud Lucious" he sliced directly to Lucious as he said it, suddenly, Lucious felt all his demonic energy had been blown away.
Valiant was a family famous for hunting demonic, therefore they have created a swordsmanship dedicated to supress demonic energy, though Kaelen doesn't know Lucious is a demon vessel yet, Kaelen instinct was to used it in order to win. And Lucious was lucked out because of that, crowd that were mages were start to notice different energy from Lucious, and the judge was about to stop the match to investigate, but thanks to Kaelen, the demonic energy in Lucious was blown away. And there was no further question, everyone thought it was just a misunderstanding.
But even though the demonic energy was being sliced away simultaneously, Lucious physical enhancement still remains, he was fighting on par with Kaelen, which even excites Kaelen even more. Lucious was able to have a second hit onto Kaelen, kicking him flying to the wall, both were heavily injured now, and Kaelen decides to end this.
"Valiant swordsmanship, First form, Death cycle" As was preparing for it. An old man voice from the VIP sit suddenly stand up and scream. "WHAT ARE YOU DOING KAELEN, STOP THIS IMEDIATELY"
But Kaelen continue, and then he flew at Lucious, creating a motion of a spin, the next second, Kaelen was behind Lucious, Lucious was slice straight in the chest, fainting imediately, losing the ability to fight.
"Winner, Kaelen Valiant, 103 wins - 0 losses, congrats on being the top first year of the Royal Academy" But as the judge scream out.
"I want his boy in the academy too." pointing at Lucious.
"But, sir Kaelen, Lucious had a record of 57 losses, no wins, the first in the entrance exam academy records." the judge exclaimed.
"I want to talk to with sir Florian"
"Im sorry, but there is an urgent in the palace that sir Florian have to attend to, and I will judge the final 100 students sir."
"This child, was the only one, who not only hit me, but injured me, no one in this competition has even scratched me, are you saying he is not worth it in this academy?"
"No sir but..."
"He will get in this academy, under the name of Valiant, I'm sure I still got the invitation to the academy right, I will pass it for him."
"The rules can't work like that sir"
"Then if that boy isn't in this academy, then I refuse to be in the academy either."
"I'm sure you can make an exception for the Valiant family right, after all, we are important for this country." Kaelen father had jumped down the podium to assist his son.
"Yes... I think we can find a way, sir Magnus Valiant." the judge was afraid of the huge man in front of him.
"Hahahah, I think so too, well, lets treat that boy over there shall we."
Magnus was a terrifying man, who know nothing but slayed demons, but he really loved Kaelen, as he doesn't have a mother, so Magnus decides to let Kaelen do what he wants, so if Kaelen wants that kid to join the academy, he will make it happen.
