Chapter 6 - Plan

After getting a general understanding of the Trier National Library, Fulen sat at an empty table on the seventh floor, pondering his upcoming study plan. This familiar feeling almost transported Fulen back to his university days, when he was keen on reading domestic and foreign novels collected by the school library instead of studying there. Thus, his roommates often found it strange why Fulen, who loved going to the library, had such mediocre grades.

Fulen, who scoffed at himself for thinking about these things, shifted his thoughts back to the current problem, which specific books he needed to read.

Books helpful for acting the Trickmaster were undoubtedly those on magic. Unfortunately, only a negligible number of such books remained on the sixth floor, mostly discussing the superb techniques of Magicians and the intricacies of magic performances.

It was a pity that no Magician would write a book that would expose and offend all their peers. Therefore, even the most famous magic books only introduced a few innocuous methods for performing tricks, but these methods were quite inhumane, either requiring long periods of arduous practice or praising the increased difficulty of the magic. As for other magic tricks, they were even more obscure, saying nothing of substance.

"Hmm, I can read a small portion and take notes on magic tricks that can be achieved using Trickmaster. After advancing, these can serve as a stepping stone to join a Circus. Oh, and I need to watch Circus performances from time to time, focusing on the Magician's acts. Add it to the plan." Fulen couldn't help but tap the table, and after drawing disapproving glances from those around him, he changed to tapping his own forehead.

"Acting the Astrologer requires a foundation of mysticism, which can be divided into three parts, one is the collection of books at home, a large portion of my father's collection being divination, especially crystal divination and astrological divination, with some other divination methods also included; another part is on the second floor of the Trier National Library, the astrological section of theology, the majesty of the Gods is like the Stars in the sky, high above and beyond reach, their grace like the sea, their might like a prison; the last part is on the third floor, the astronomical observation section of natural science, some being ancient stargazing charts without telescopes, showing stellar changes caused by seasonal and annual variations, and some being more concrete galaxy maps from modern times after the invention of telescopes. The former is macroscopic, the latter microscopic, each having its uses." Fulen pondered the next roleplaying section in his mind, but he couldn't guarantee complete accuracy, as his father had never left specific methods for roleplaying. Most people's roleplaying relied on grinding through time; a roleplayer would eventually digest their role.

"The next Sequence after Astrologer is Scribe. The acting guideline for Scribe is to record various Beyonder abilities and local customs and scenery. The most useful books for a Scribe are undoubtedly found in the travelogue section on the fifth floor. As the most appealing type of realistic writing, travelogues occupy a significant proportion of the literature section in various libraries. As for Beyonder abilities, recording them is one aspect, while recognizing and defining them is another. This, for me, is actually a relatively easy part."

Thinking of this, Fulen couldn't help but stop his tapping fingers, instead clasping his hands together and closing his eyes slightly, summarizing: "In short, what I need are books on magic from the sixth floor, astrological books from the theology section on the second floor, the astronomical part of natural science from the third floor, the travelogue section of literature from the fifth floor, and my own mystical books at home. Oh, and I also need to go to a Circus to experience magic performances firsthand."

"It's decided. Time is tight, so I need to act now. The more I procrastinate, the less I achieve." Fulen then recalled how he sometimes wished to study in the library, but ultimately, due to his laziness and lack of interest, he devoted very little time to studying. Although, reading novels in the library was indeed much more enjoyable than studying.

Out of curiosity for travelogues, Fulen couldn't help but decide to read books from the travelogue section first. These were the closest real-life reports to novels, and many travelogues were even more interesting than novels because they were real, and reality was the best novel. Sometimes, events that happened in reality were even stranger than what novelists wrote.

Even within the literary subdivision of travelogues, the Trier National Library did quite well, with very clear classifications: there were travelogues of Intis, Loen, Feysac, Faynapotter, the ocean, and even the South Continent. Of course, some could entirely be classified as novels, as the places the Authors described were completely beyond the reach of ordinary people.

"Trier Travelogue" by Isais Bell, nationality Loen. Fulen couldn't help but feel curious, took out the book, opened the cover, and briefly looked at the Author's introduction and table of contents. This book seemed quite readable because the Author had written it entirely in the form of a novel.

Isais Bell was the most famous bestselling Author in Loen in recent years. People of this era preferred travelogue-type articles, and what was even rarer was that Isais Bell was a follower of the Evernight Goddess and also a woman. This was even more surprising in Intis, where the Eternal Blazing Sun was more dominant. However, among travelogue readers in Intis, Isais unexpectedly enjoyed high popularity.

"...In the 'City of Sunlight,' everything is so bright, which is unimaginable in Backlund, where gloom is the main theme. Of course, I don't dislike gloomy weather; overly strong sunlight will eventually harm oneself and others..."

"...If one wants to write a travelogue that is closer to reality, the best situation is to become a local, to experience people's joys and sorrows. Fortunately, my friends happen to live in Trier. As followers of the God of Steam, their family's interactions are more comfortable than those of the followers of Blazing Sun. Of course, the invisible sense of disdain in the words of the Blazing Sun followers is why I somewhat dislike them. But it cannot be denied that when chatting with unfamiliar ladies, the followers of Blazing Sun are still very gentlemanly..."

Fulen was immersed in the joy of reading, unconsciously forgetting the time. After finishing this travelogue, which seemed somewhat thin compared to online novels of millions of words, Fulen couldn't help but let out a comfortable sigh. After stretching, he finally noticed that the surroundings were already bathed in the unique orange-yellow glow of candles.

After putting the book back on the shelf, Fulen lingered in the aftertaste of the travelogue. He thought about his understanding of Trier and realized there was a reason why Isais Bell's travelogue was so popular.

After leaving the Trier National Library, Fulen slowly and enjoyably made his way home, treading on the path interwoven with crimson moonlight and the dim glow of the setting sun.
