Chapter 73 - lucky luke

"Nia isn't old enough yet," Herb comforted her softly. "Before your twelfth birthday, Hogwarts will have an owl send Nia her acceptance letter, and then you can go to the magic school."

"Do I look like an idiot to you?" Nia pouted in dissatisfaction. "I know I don't have any magical talent, and Albert has known that for a long time."

"How could that be?" Herb said softly.

"Of course I would," Nia said, recounting what happened during her summer vacation.

The Ministry of Magic wrote the reason for dismissal in Truman's letter: using the Levitation Charm in front of a Muggle in the Muggle community.

"At the time, there were only the three of us in the park. Truman was a wizard, Albert was a wizard, and the Muggle in the letter naturally referred to me." As soon as she finished speaking, Nia burst into tears.

Daisy sighed softly. She actually knew about this; Albert had mentioned the possibility to her before he went to Hogwarts.

However, Nia discovered it herself.

Daisy hugged her daughter, gently patted her back, and softly comforted her, "It's okay, Nia, it's okay to cry!"

"Nia, you have to understand, wizards have their fun, but Muggles have their fun too. For example, there's no television in the wizarding world, no cartoons or movies like you, and you didn't even have many friends before you went to school," Luke said calmly. "It's actually quite good not to stay in the wizarding world, at least that's what Grandpa thinks."

"But…" Nia's voice choked with emotion, "But I want to go to Hogwarts."

Tom seemed to sense that Nia was in a bad mood, so he jumped into Nia's arms and rubbed his head against her clothes.

"Although it's a bit of a shame that I couldn't go to Hogwarts, I don't regret being a Muggle. The Muggle world is just as wonderful." Luke patted Nia's hair and said, "Alright, stop crying. Have a piece of chocolate. You're practically crying your eyes out."

"Nia, don't you want to see what gift Albert bought for you?" Herb picked up the animal voice-changing candy and shook it to his ear.

"Can't Nia experience the fun of the magical world now?" Daisy comforted her. "Why don't you give it a try? Albert mentioned in his letter that eating this candy can make you make the sounds of other animals."

"If Nia won't eat it, then I'll eat it." Herb opened the box, threw the candy into his mouth, chewed it, and then let out a lion's roar.

"Meow!"

Startled, Tom jumped off Nia and crawled under the sofa, refusing to come out.

After a moment of deathly silence, everyone in the living room turned to look at Herber, who had let out another roar.

Herb quickly covered his mouth with his hand and awkwardly pointed to the box of animal voice-changing candies.

"I want some too." The girl's attention was immediately diverted by the animal voice-changing candy, and she reached out to Herber.

"Nia, Albert said these things can't be shared with others," Daisy warned. "The magical world seems to need to be strictly kept secret, and ordinary people shouldn't know about its existence."

"I understand!" Nia took out a handkerchief to wipe the tears from her cheeks, ate an animal voice-changing candy, and her face immediately turned bright red, with hot air coming out of her ears.

"Won't we know then?" Herb asked, puzzled.

Daisy said, "Muggle families born to Muggle wizards are allowed to know about the magical world, but they are required to keep it strictly secret."

"How did you know it was written in Albert's letter?"

"Not that one, it's this one." Daisy handed another folded letter to her husband; this letter was addressed to them and Nia.

Herb looked up at Luke and said, "Dad, you should look for it too. Albert should have written you a letter as well."

"The letter is here." Sansa took a piece of parchment from the bottom of the box, opened it, looked at it, and then handed it to Luke.

"What did Albert write in his letter?" Nia asked.

"He told you to take good care of Tom, to feed him in moderation each day, and not to let the cat get too fat. Also, make sure you make some friends at school, so no one bullies you." Herb closed the letter, looked up and noticed Luke's unusual expression, and asked softly, "Dad, what's wrong?"

"It's nothing!" Luke sighed softly.

Sansa read the contents of the letter. At the end of the letter, it mentioned a man named Filch, who worked as a caretaker at Hogwarts and was a Squib.

Luke could easily tell from the letter that Mr. Filch was not happy at Hogwarts.

How can someone who likes to go against students all day, likes to cause trouble for students, and is often angered by naughty students, possibly be happy?

Filch could only keep company with his own cat, could only clean up stains with a mop, and lived all day in an environment with a group of mischievous little wizards, watching others use magic while he could not use it himself.

Luke couldn't think of any reason why Filch could be happy.

For a magic school like Hogwarts, Filch was dispensable; any wizard who knew magic could certainly do better than him.

Luke didn't sympathize with Filch, because it was Filch's choice, and Filch was undoubtedly lucky because the headmaster of Hogwarts took him in; otherwise, a Squib ignored by the wizarding world would have had almost no chance of finding any work.

No wizard would hire a useless person.

To this day, Luke still believes that since he is a Squib, there is nothing wrong with living obediently in the Muggle world, learning some Muggle skills, and becoming a qualified Muggle.

Why stay in the wizarding world and be a Squib that everyone hates?

Although Luke knew that what those people did might be right, he never forgave them and completely severed ties with them.

Compared to Filch, Luke felt much luckier; he had his own family, a daughter-in-law, and two adorable grandchildren.

They live a happy and fulfilling life.

Looking at the photo of six people and a cat, Luke smiled faintly.

"Grandpa Luke, what are you laughing at?" Nia asked curiously.

"Grandpa feels very lucky, doesn't he?" Luke folded the letter and said with a smile, "Here, let me blow you some bubbles."

In the box, Albert also put a box of Bubble Gum for the old man.

"Albert didn't prepare one for me."

"This was actually prepared for Nia." Luke smiled broadly, though he understood why Albert had sent him the Super Bubble Gum.

Luke handed Nia the Super Bubble Gum, then tore one open for himself, popped it into his mouth, chewed it slowly, and blew a string of bluebell-colored bubbles from his mouth like he was blowing bubbles. The bubbles floated in the hall, and didn't pop even when they hit objects.

Nia also blew bubbles, her face full of smiles. She seemed to have forgotten that she had just been sad about not being able to go to Hogwarts.
