Something woke her out a deep sleep. A sleep that feels like a eternity but not a sound woke her, not a even a light. Perhaps only the faint suspicion that something is wrong.
She opened her eyes slowly, and immediately felt a headache, she looked around, but she sees nothing only stars and that she is floating.
The rest Darkness...
The darkness... that consumed her felt like the deepest part of space, she is surrounded by nothing only stars. Stars that she can't reach.
She has the feeling that she can't do anything to stop floating. The Vicinity around her felt cool, but at times she wasn't sure it was truly there, this coldness. As if it only formed when she touched it.
A breath ? From where ?
Was it hers?
It sounded foreign, too soft, too... hesitant.
She raised her hand. Or thought she did.
She didn't see it. She only felt the weight of movement disconnected, almost borrowed.
Her heartbeat.
Once, Twice.
Then nothing. No more heartbeat.
Then again, Her heartbeat is Irregular.
As if her heart hadn't yet decided whether it wanted to function.
Something was wrong.
With this place or with her. Perhaps with both.
She doesn't even remembered her name, everything else felt submerged.
Formless.
A soft, vibrating sound broke the silence.
It was not loud, Barely real. Barely audible.
Yet it crawled across her skin like a cold whisper.
It felt a crack opened.
No light more like a pale, breathless shimmer that appeared for a single moment as the darkness twitched.
She recoiled, instinctively.
Something was there... Or someone.
The darkness ahead began to take shape.
Slowly and carefully.
Like a shadow slowly appearing, it submerged slowly
Initially a silhouette.
Slim, Upright, Motionless.
It had no eyes.
But she felt it is looking at her.
A tremor ran through the air, through the darkness itself. As if it were listening.
Expectant.
She tried to speak to it, but words stuck in her throat.
Her voice felt forgotten.
Her thoughts formed a whisper:
>>"Who are you...? Where am I...? Who am I...?"<<
And then so quiet she couldn't tell if she heard it or imagined it:
>>"You should not ask."<<
A shiver swept through her. How did he know what she was thinking? Did her thought become that whisper that could be heard?
The silhouette dissolved after the answer, not like mist. More like an error the world corrected
a shape that had never been meant to appear.
She remained still, she fells heavier. She took time to understand what was happening, what she saw and what happens. She takes a deep breath. Once, twice and then again.
The Vicinity around her trembled heavy, just briefly to see in the darkness darkness through the stars. Sharply. Like a distant echo of a collapse and yet nothing here could collapse, because nothing existed there is nothing that could collapse.
Then she heard something she couldn't place:
A scream ? A soft scream, strangled, strangely familiar or was it inside her head?
She closed her eyes, though the darkness didn't grow darker. Suddenly. She feel something. A pull? She doesn't know where it comes from or how, but she keeps hearing this scream and doesn't understand where it's coming from.
It allowed itself to be pulled, and out of nothing a kind of soil emerged. She let herself be pulled along, and out of nowhere a kind of floor appeared. The pull slowly pulled her there until she was standing on it. Relieved to finally be standing on something but it feels weirdly, she looks around, unaware of what is happening. The 'ground' beneath her feet didn't feel normal, more like energy? Void? She couldn't quite describe it, but for the time being she was relieved to finally be standing.
One by one the stars disappeared until there was only darkness, her breath suddenly caught in her throat and she couldn't breathe. She fell to her knees, fighting for air. One by one the stars disappeared until there was only darkness. Her breath suddenly caught in her throat and she feels weak she became weaker as if her body were giving up. She fell to her knees, fighting for concussions, just before she thought she was going to faint. She could breathe again and saw stairs in front of her.
She thought to herself: >>"What's happening to me? Where am I? What's going on here...? What is this place!? Why am I here?"<< She took a deep breath, somewhat recovered from what had happened, she is agitated, and walked slowly towards the stairs.
The stairs led upwards, and as she walked, a path formed at the bottom. She followed it a melancholic melody slowly becomes audible, and images appeared beside her. She heard voices and things being said, they echo like memories in a rememberance.
She sees many unfamiliar faces, yet she has the feeling of knowing them. As if she's seen them before, but not when or where. She continues along the path and on this path she sees a Man, she feels like she knows him but can't remember. She pauses for a moment, memorizing his features. She tries to remember, but the only thing she thinks about when she looked at him is a wind barrier and a tower that is what she connects with him.
She continues walking, following the path, the memory fading behind her and the next one forming along the way. The person from before has apparently died. She continues walking, following the path, the memory fading behind her, and the next one forming along the way. It is the same person, but this time the person is now deceased and replaced with a feminine man.
She felt like she should be feeling something, but she felt empty. Where emotions should have been, there was nothing, a slight touch of guilt and melancholy came over her. The memory fades and stairs reappear, she followed them again and the next memories appeared. Again. She followed and led herself be lead.
A memory fraction of a tall man, in a hooded robe, he is holding a rather large cube in his hand. The next memory shows him holding a woman's hand, the memory shows her death and the men looks terrified and sad.
The next memory shows a beautiful woman, in a Kimono with a little umbrella and a hold fox. She found the fox cute in her memory, and she looked at it closely, committing its appearance to memory. She was completely enchanted by the cuteness of this little creature, she saw the small flower on her forehead, that one tail and the sweet little creature even had earrings. She continued along the path but stayed with the little fox until the memory disappeared, and then continued on.
She continued along the path but stayed with the little fox until the memory disappeared, and then continued on her way, the path led her to the next memory. The woman died in the arms of another woman who looked extremely similar to her, as if they were almost the same person. She looked at them both closely and realized they were twins, and she saw that Something broke inside the crying person, and it wasn't just very heart.
Once again the memory fades and she is led on by pain, once again a staircase that takes her further upwards.Someone else died and was replaced, they were all familiar faces, yet somehow so foreign. She began to question whether these were her memories returning, but only in fragments.
She held her head and continued walking. She saw a elegant lady, elegantly and majestically dressed. In the next memory she saw that she died and became one with water, fills the waters.
She continues to follow the memory and saw a woman, in a tight suit. She has eyes in shape from the sun and cute a strand of hair sticking up from the head, that was cute again... but... Who is she? I saw flames radiating from her body faintly like sun-kissed when her flames the iron from her Claymore embraced.
Suddenly another pull and she fell as the platform dissolved beneath her, she fell into the depths. She saw a girl with a pointed mask and X shapes material from the mask over her closed eyes and she doesn't wear shoes, the memory simply passed her by, and she fell into something like water. Suddenly the view shifted and it was as if the water was on top and everything else was below, as if their world had been turned upside down.
Her last memory was of a weeping woman who had lost her husband, he had been taken away from her. The last thing she saw was her fighting to get him back, A distant voice spoke: >>"You need to wake up, wake up"<< Suddenly she fell, she fell and saw the ground getting closer and closer and but when she hit the ground, she felt no pain.
She only feels that the air around her is thick.
There was no darkness. No light.
Something else something broken. A Void.
A faint crack echoed through the void.
Not a sound... more like a feeling.
She felt pressure behind her eyes.
Something inside her split.
The path beneath her flickered like shattered glass.
For a moment, she saw a battlefield.
Burned earth. She heard screams swallowed by flames.
A giant shadow tearing through a city she almost recognized a city buried beneath ages of dust.
She gasped and stumbled back, clutching her head.
The memorys shattered again.
Fragments hung in the air like pieces of a broken mirror, each reflecting a different moment:
The first piece shows Archons clashing in blinding bursts of elemental force.
A splinter floated close past her a battlefield but different from the previous one.
Mountains of smoke. Screams torn apart by elemental forces.
A young goddess ran through rubble, her gaze filled with fear. >>"We were not ready..."<<
Then the shard broke before the scene could end.
Another splinter rotated in front of her a city drowned under crimson light.
Gold. Metal. Broken masks.
A city of perfect angles and cold light, yet the sky above was twisted.
Someone heard her name.
Or did she just think it?
The city crumbled like paper.
The next splinter was warm a figure with frost-blue eyes standing alone against an army.
Jands that held hers, voices who laughed.
A promise she no longer understood.
>>"We will find each other again, no matter what happens..."<<
The heat suddenly turned to cold as the splinter shattered.
The last splinter cathedral collapsing into an abyssal maw.
Her breath trembled: "What... what is the meaning of this, why did I see this...? What is all this...?" She looked at all the moments, wondering why she saw them, why they happened.
The shards pulsed.
Something whispered from the cracks:
"This is Fracture..."
The word was not spoken it vibrated through the fragments, through her bones.
One shard drifted toward her, reflecting her own face... only it wasn't her. She doesn't believe it's her.
Her eyes glowed with a pale, unnatural light.
Veins darkened like ink spreading under the skin.
She flinched at the sight.
No that wasn't her.
Couldn't be her.
She averts her gaze and looked at the battlefield vision but the battlefield-vision surged again.
A giant figure, crowned in frost, falling to her knees.
Snow turned to blood.
A hand reaching out desperate, trembling.
The Crying Woman again, from before.
She wanted to take her hand, touch her hand.
But the shard cracked again and dissolved.
She stumbled back as the ground rippled under her feet.
She felt the fracture inside herself deepen a tear in something that should not tear.
Abyss-blue light crawled up her arm for a second.
It is Cold and Hungry then it suddenly faded.
She collapsed to her knees, gasping.
>>"What's... happening to me...?"<<
Her voice was barely a whisper.
From the darkness, the same presence as before breathed:
>>" You - You are remembering and...<< It laughs lightly >>"you are breaking."<<
