Chapter 1 - Chapter 1; behind the camera

Yael was sitting in a dark room, the computer lighting up his face. His brown eyes, brown messy, curly hair. The people in his Gitch stream were sending too many messages at once. The room was silent and the game was intense. His fingers are moving in swift--precised movements.

"Chat, we ain't losing this extract." He mumbled to the mic near his mouth. On his screen, his character--call sign 'Wraith_19'--crouched in the rain, behind the tall green grass, in the middle of the ruined--lashed fictional city. "The Amazonite is in sector D-7, which means every other player, bot and ghoul is heading there." The chat scroll was wild. He glances at it, he reads few of them;

Shadow_flare "Yael is COLD tonight"

Llreal_42 "He's so locked in right now"

CanaryCode "Whoa, see the deadline timer??"

Yael, hadn't paid attention to the timer at all. He looked at the time, it was in red color--beeping. He only had five minutes to fight all those ghouls, players and easy bots. "We won't fight what we can avoid." He says quickly, his character running towards the D-6 gate, to the underground--unstable subway. He avoids the slow ghouls and bots. "Our mission is to get the Gem, and destroy the guardian." Yael whispers.

His fingers danced on his keyboard--a quick swap from a dagger to a EMP grenade. He aims at the crowd of players in D-7 gate who were fighting and killing each other.--and throws it at them giving him the chance to kill the guardian. "The first deadline.." Yael says as he swaps to a high-caliber rifle, it's a black circle of vengeance. "Is my bullet in his skull."

He fired.

The shot wasn't just a hit, it was straight up a punctuation mark. His character--wraith-ran and grabbed the Amazonite Gem.

HEADSHOT. AMAZONITE SUCCESFULLY SECURE. MISSION ACCOMPLISHED.

The victory screen erupted in bright light. Yael leaned back, running a hand through his brown messy hair. His character goes from level 133 to 134. "Alright, Ya'll I will play this game tomorrow too, same time, same place." He says in his usual calm tone. He was about to sign off, to let his dark empty apartment swallow him--until a new platinum -tier subscriber notification popped up with a distinct, soft chime he'd never seen before.

thorno_PaX "Yo, Ever thought what if it became real?"

Yael leaned in, before leaning back and chuckling. "Hah! You're funny..Also change that name of yours." He winks and shuts off his stream. He stands up and opens the lights revealing, the empty room that was only filled with his mattress on the ground and his messy table on the side, full of take out food. Yael had no energy, to do anything. So he shut his lights and sat on the bed. He lazily grabs his phone and sees 2 missed calls from 'mom' and few emails that were advertisement and one from his manager. He opens his phone and goes through the email first.

'Hello, Yael. I'd like to inform you about the tax. You need to pay me due this month. Don't forget.'

Yael sighs and sits up straight. He only had two weeks before the month ended. He goes to his messages and texts his mom.

'Mom, i'm sorry i couldn't answer the phone. I was busy streaming, is there something you want?'

Yael and his mom weren't too close but he did still care about his mom. After few minutes of no answer, he shuts his phone and lies down on the old mattress. He goes under the blanket and curls up shutting his eyes. The sleep took over quickly.
